AIMPLB, J-K Waqf Board express condolences to families of victims of Air India plane crash
New Delhi [India] June 14 (ANI): The All India Muslim Personal Law Board (AIMPLB) on Friday expressed its condolences to the bereaved families over the loss of lives in the crash of Air India Boeing 787 Dreamliner flight from Ahmedabad to London, which had 242 passengers and crew members on board.
In the press statement, AIMPLB president Maulana Khalid Saifullah Rahmani expressed profound grief over the unfortunate crash.
'We share in your sorrow and pray that the Almighty grants you patience and strength in this time of immense grief,' he said.
He also demanded a thorough investigation into the crash.
'We demand a thorough investigation into the causes of this crash, and that those found responsible for any negligence be held accountable,' the MPLB president said.
Jammu and Kashmir Waqf Board Chairperson Dr. Darakhshan Andrabi expressed her shock over the incident.
'I lack words for the incident. Even the thought of such an incident is horrifying... So many passengers, including ex-CM (Vijay Rupani), lost their lives... May the departed souls rest in peace and their families get the strength to bear the immense loss,' she said.
On Thursday, the Air India's Boeing Dreamliner plane, bound for London's Gatwick, crashed shortly after it took off from the Ahmedabad International Airport. Only one out of the 242 people on board the aircraft survived the crash.
There were 169 Indian nationals, 53 British nationals, seven Portuguese nationals, and one Canadian national on board the crashed plane, airline authorities said. (ANI)

Rishikesh (Uttarakhand) [India], June 14 (ANI): Parmarth Niketan Ashram President Swami Chidanand Saraswati performed special prayers and aarti on the banks of the Ganga in Rishikesh to pay tribute to the victims of the tragic AI-171 plane crash in Ahmedabad, which claimed 241 lives. Calling the incident 'shocking and disturbing,' Swami Chidanand said the entire environment was engulfed in grief as thousands joined in the collective prayer for the departed souls and the speedy recovery of the sole survivor. He also paid tribute to former Gujarat Chief Minister Vijay Rupani, who died in the crash, describing him as a 'very dear person.' Speaking to ANI on Friday, Swami Chidanand Saraswati said, 'The accident is shocking and disturbing. The whole environment is sad... Today, thousands of people performed aarti on the sacred bank of the Ganga in Parmarth Niketan for the souls of those who left us. We also prayed that injured people recover quickly and return to their homes... Former Gujarat CM Vijay Rupani was a very dear person, who passed away in the accident... PM Modi says that India is his family... Whenever there is a moment of sorrow, he is always there... He went there and spoke to the survivor and expressed grief to the bereaved family members...' The deadly accident has shaken the country and led to condolences and prayers pouring in from several states. In Uttarakhand's Haridwar, hundreds of people gathered on the banks of the Ganga River to offer prayers for the deceased. Locals and priests performed rituals and lit lamps as a mark of respect for those who lost their lives in the horrific crash. In Tamil Nadu, members of the Rameswaram People's Protection Council paid heartfelt homage to the victims at Agni Theertham beach in Pamban. Flowers were floated into the sea, and silence was observed to remember the passengers and crew who died in the crash. According to Air Traffic Control (ATC), the aircraft departed from Ahmedabad at 1339 IST (0809 UTC) from runway 23. It made a Mayday call to ATC, but thereafter, the aircraft did not respond to the calls. One Nation One Election will open new avenues, speed up country's development: Kalraj Mishra
New Delhi [India] June 14, (ANI): Endorsing the One Nation One Election (ONOE) initiative, senior BJP leader and former Rajasthan Governor Kalraj Mishra has said it will not only reduce election-related expenses but also speed up the country's development by opening new avenues. Addressing an event at the Constitution Club in the national capital on Friday evening, Mishra said Lok Sabha and assembly polls were done simultaneously without any hiccup till 1967, since the first polls in independent India in 1952, as everyone was in support of simultaneous polls, be it the then ruling Congress or Communist parties. 'Everyone supported it, beyond political affiliations, be it then Prime Minister Pandit Jawahar Lal Nehru or, Communist leaders...,' the former union minister said. He said the trend was 'broken' due to many reasons. 'It was broken as some new states were formed, and their assembly elections were held... then ruling Congress dismissed the opposition ruled state governments by misusing Article 356; general elections were preponed in 1972... term of Lok Sabha was also increased by an year to 6 years during Emergency...,' said Mishra said, who was the Governor of Rajasthan from 2019 to 2024. Simultaneous polls across the country will significantly reduce poll expenditure and manpower. This is not about any political party, ONOE is 'essential for the country's development,' he stressed. Mishra said it is fully 'according to the Constitution' and said the opposition parties should be asked which schedule of the Constitution forbids the ONOE. The senior leader recalled that even in 1983, the Election Commission felt the need to rethink on the simultaneous polls and said it was essential for the country. He said NITI Aayog in 2016, and other government commissions have also endorsed the ONOE. The 129th Constitutional Amendment Bill for simultaneous national and assembly polls was tabled in the Lok Sabha in December last. It was later referred to the Joint Parliamentary Committee. The Modi government had formed a High-level Committee on simultaneous Elections, under the chairmanship of former President Ram Nath Kovind, who submitted over 18,000-page report to President Droupadi Murmu in March last year. Earlier, the former governor condoled the loss of lives in the deadly crash of London-bound Air India plane in Ahmedabad on Thursday. He also remembered the former Gujarat Chief Minister Vijay Rupani who also died in the deadly crash. The Boeing 787-8 aircraft was carrying 242 passengers and crew members, including 169 Indian nationals, 53 British nationals, seven Portuguese nationals, and one Canadian national. (ANI)
