First group of Malaysian pilgrims departs Mecca for home after 48 days of Haj
MECCA, June 14 — The return journey of the first group of Malaysian hajj pilgrims (KT001) involving a total of 277 people from the Abraj Al Janadriyah accommodation building to King Abdulaziz International Airport, Jeddah proceeded smoothly.
All KT001 pilgrims will board flight MH8050 at 5.40 am local time today (June 14) and arrive at Kuala Lumpur International Airport (KLIA), Sepang at 8.10 pm Malaysian time on the same day.
The departure of six buses of pilgrims was officiated by the head of the Hajj Delegation, Mohd Hisham Harun at Abraj Al Janadriyah hotel at 9.50 pm (June 13).
Earlier, this group arrived in Madinah on April 29 and had been in the Holy Land for about 48 days to perform the obligatory umrah before completing the hajj last week.
A total of 31,600 Malaysian pilgrims are expected to return home in stages via King Abdulaziz International Airport, Jeddah and Prince Mohammad bin Abdulaziz International Airport, Madinah on AMAL by Malaysia Airlines and Saudia Airlines.
The last flight of the Malaysian pilgrim group is scheduled to depart Madinah on July 10 at 10.40 am local time and land at KLIA at 12.35 am (July 11). — Bernama

Among the key successes this year, Mohd Na'im noted, was the safe completion of wuquf, the pivotal standing at Arafah, by all Malaysian pilgrims, including 95 ailing pilgrims who were transported in 10 specially arranged buses under the Safari Wuquf programme. Meanwhile, Mustakim said that despite ongoing challenges such as extreme heat and limited tent space in Mina, TH continues to implement improvements aimed at enhancing pilgrims' comfort and safety. These included adding extra toilet facilities and storage space during the critical Masyair phase of the haj. Media to get 50% discount for AirAsia flights across Asean

Communications minister Fahmi Fadzil said the offer is part of a collaboration between the ministry and AirAsia in conjunction with Malaysia's chairmanship of Asean this year. Bookings will be open until Dec 31, 2025, with the travel period set from April to September 2026. The information department will announce the full booking details and mechanism soon. 'Thank you, AirAsia, for this generous initiative. It not only recognises the contributions of our media practitioners but also encourages greater connectivity and engagement within the Asean region,' Fahmi said at the National Journalists Day (Hawana) 2025 Summit at the World Trade Centre Kuala Lumpur today. In a separate announcement, Fahmi said the founding board of the Malaysian Media Council (MMC) had been finalised and comprises 12 members, representing various sectors of the media industry.
