Ex-Arsenal playmaker Tomáš Rosický out of hospital after unspecified heart problem
PRAGUE (AP) — Former Arsenal midfielder Tomáš Rosický was hospitalized in an intensive care unit last week for an unspecified heart-related problem.
Sparta Prague said Rosický, its 44-year-old sport director, was hospitalized last Tuesday and released at the end of last week. No surgery was needed and he was recovering at home. The club said it delayed the announcement of the issue due to its seriousness.
'The good news is that I'm expected to make a full recovery, though I'm currently unable to carry out the demanding responsibilities of a sporting director,' Rosický said in a statement.
Tomáš Sivok, the former Czech Republic international and current manager of Sparta's men team, has taken over as the interim sport director.
Rosický was called the 'Little Mozart' for his playmaking qualities, and retired from playing soccer in 2017.
He started his pro career at Sparta, won the Bundesliga with Borussia Dortmund, and spent 10 oft-injured years with the Gunners, winning the FA Cup in 2014 and 2015.

Saudi Arabia's World Cup hopes hinge on a near-impossible task against Australia
A Saudi squad that has scored six goals through nine qualifying games needs to beat Australia by a five-goal margin to earn a direct spot at the 2026 World Cup. Head coach Herve Renard knows it's an extremely unlikely outcome for his Saudi team, but he's urging his players to go all in Tuesday in the last game of the third round of Asian qualifying for next year's global tournament. 'The door is closed but we have to try to qualify even if it is through the window,' Renard said after his team's 2-0 win over Bahrain last week kept Saudi. 'Everything must go very well for us if we are to qualify; we have to score goals.' Anything less than a five-goal deficit means Australia — in second spot in Group C — qualifies for a seventh World Cup. The last time the Socceroos lost by such a margin was in successive 6-0 defeats against Brazil and France in 2013. The Australians have scored 14 goals and conceded six through nine qualifiers. After successive World Cup qualifications through the playoffs, Australia is close to securing a direct route but coach Tony Popovic is taking nothing for granted. Narváez's three-run homer leads Red Sox past Yankees 11-7
NEW YORK (AP) — Carlos Narváez put Boston ahead with a three-run homer against his former team in the sixth inning, and the Red Sox overcame two home runs by Aaron Judge in an 11-7 victory over the New York Yankees on Sunday night. GIANTS 4, BRAVES 3 SAN FRANCISCO (AP) — Mike Yastrzemski drove in three runs as San Francisco extended its winning streak to five games with a victory over Atlanta. The Giants swept the three-game series and sent the Braves to their seventh straight loss. Atlanta has lost 14 of its last 17 games and fell to 27-37, a season-low 10 games under .500. San Francisco trailed 3-1 in the fourth when Yastrzemski sparked a three-run inning for the Giants. He tied the game with a two-out, two-run double down the right field line and scored on an error by the Braves' Ozzie Albies, who couldn't handle a ground ball by Tyler Fitzgerald to second. His strikeouts were the most by a Mariners pitcher since James Paxton had 16 in May 2018, and he matched Miami's Max Meyer for the most strikeouts in a major league game this season.
