Kesari Veer tells the story of unsung warriors who fought valiantly to protect the Somnath temple from invading forces.
Sooraj Pancholi recently made his comeback with the movie Kesari Veer. Released on May 23, the historical drama pays tribute to Veer Hamirji Gohil, the brave warrior who defended the Somnath Temple against the Tughlaq Empire. However, it has received an underwhelming response and has earned hardly Rs 1 crore at the box office as of now.
Amid all this, Karni Sena has claimed that the film might be getting sidelined. Recently, Karni Sena leader Dr Raj Shekhawat issued a strong statement and addressed film distributors and theatre owners.
'We, the audience and supporters of cinema, would like to ask all film distributors and theatre owners what objection do you have to giving Kesari Veer a prime-time slot? You've allotted it morning shows when viewer footfall is relatively low. Why is this historic film being sidelined in such a manner?" he said.
Urging theatre owners to re-evaluate their scheduling, the Karni Sena leader added, 'There is still time to make a change. We urge you to contribute by giving this important film the visibility it deserves through prime-time shows. Otherwise, we may be compelled to take this issue to a public forum."
He also appealed to the public to support the Sooraj Pancholi starrer by watching it in cinemas and said, 'At the same time, I appeal to the citizens of this country to go to theatres in large numbers and support Kesari Veer. The film is based on the valour of the great warrior Hamir Singh Gohil and those brave souls who sacrificed their lives to protect the sacred Somnath temple. Let us come together to support such films so that filmmakers are encouraged not discouraged to bring our heroic history to life on screen."
Kesari Veer tells the story of unsung warriors who fought valiantly to protect the Somnath temple from invading forces. Besides Sooraj Pancholi, the film also stars Suniel Shetty as the fearless Vegda Ji. Debutant Akanksha Sharma takes on the role of the fierce Rajal, whereas Vivek Oberoi portrays the ruthless antagonist, Zafar.
Directed by Prince Dhiman and produced by Kanubhai Chauhan under the Chauhan Studios banner, Kesari Veer is a Panorama Studios worldwide release.

Thug Life Box Office Collections: Kamal Haasan starrer is Dead on Arrival with a poor first day

Thug Life is a dead-on-arrival at the box office, with the film taking a below par opening and then followed it with poor initial audience reception. The Kamal Hassan starrer grossed a mere Rs. 17 crore approx on its first day at the Indian box office. The film had underwhelming advances, but even they were better than what it has finally ended up with, due to negligible walkup business during the day. Tamil Nadu made up for most of the first day collection with Rs. 13 crore. From advances, it was expected to collect around Rs. 15-16 crore, but it fell significantly short of that. The first day of business in the state is similar to Indian 2. While that film had some numbers outside Tamil Nadu while this has nothing to show for. The film missed out on a Karnataka release due to the controversy surrounding recent remarks made by Kamal Haasan, but even where it was released, it was a non-starter. Thug Life marks the second major disappointment for Kamal Hassan after Indian 2, third considering Indian 3 is already written off. The legendary actor made a comeback to the forefront of the Tamil box office same week three years ago, with a mega blockbuster Vikram. On paper, his follow-up lineup to Vikram looked highly promising, but it has failed spectacularly. Despite the dismal theatrical performance, the producers of Thug Life are insulated from financial loss, as they fetched handsome prices for the non-theatrical rights. The losses will be with those who paid those prices, as they are certainly not going to recover them, and with the exhibition sector, missing action during the peak summer period. The First Day Box Office Collections of Thug Life are as follows:

Festive fervour grips Jama Masjid's Bakra Mandi ahead of Eid-al-Adha

NEW DELHI: With Eid-al-Adha just around the corner, the narrow lanes around Delhi's Jama Masjid are bursting with energy, excitement, and extravagance. At the heart of it all is the famous Bakra Mandi, where goats named after Bollywood superstars like Salman Khan and Shahrukh Khan are commanding prices ranging from Rs 8,000 to a staggering Rs 15 lakh. These prized animals, raised with care and devotion over years, are more than just livestock — they are symbols of pride, patience, and faith. 'It takes three years for goats to grow up... It feels really good. Here, we raise animals and watch them grow. May the Almighty bless humans with the same reward too,' says an assistant at Zaif Quereshi. This year, sellers are celebrating record profits, with earnings soaring to Rs 15 lakh — nearly four times higher than last year's Rs 4 lakh mark — making this one of the most lucrative seasons in recent memory. Bargaining is as normal here as in the Sarojini market, just with bigger numbers. 'One customer tried to bring a Rs 95,000 goat down to Rs 70,000,' said another seller, Asif. 'They ask what we fed it, where it came from, and then quote their own price — but not all deals close.' For many, negotiating is as much a tradition as the sacrifice itself. This time, 'Gangapari' — white in color and in excellent health — is in the spotlight and high in demand. Breeds varying from Totapuri, Jamnagar Bam Doli, Barbari, Malabar, Mewati, etc., are available in the market, brought in from Rajasthan, Uttar Pradesh, Haryana, and farther regions. 'At our farm, we feed them grains, cashews, chana, and more. We raise them with care and love. My favourite is Sultan Pahalwan. We have Salman, Shahrukh, Rahamuddin, and many more,' said Jaif, a 13-year-old caretaker. Members of the Muslim community have begun arriving at livestock mandis to purchase goats for Qurbani, the sacred ritual of sacrifice that forms the heart of the festival. In India, Eid-al-Adha will be observed on June 7 this year. The festival is often referred to as the Festival of Sacrifice.
