Saudi Arabia To Teach AI In Schools

Gulf Insider15-04-2025
Saudi Arabia has launched a new high school course titled 'Introduction to Artificial Intelligence' as part of its efforts to localise AI education and build a digitally skilled generation.
The initiative was announced by the Saudi Data and Artificial Intelligence Authority (SDAIA) in partnership with the Ministry of Education during the Human Capability Initiative 2025 conference, a high-level forum that brought together more than 300 global leaders, policymakers, and experts across academia, the private sector, and non-profit organisations.
The course, targeting 12th-grade students in the general track, is being introduced as an elective and is designed to align with global technological trends while offering students foundational knowledge in AI and its real-world applications. More than 50,000 students across the Kingdom are expected to benefit from the first phase of the programme.
Delivered through a custom-built digital platform, the course offers an interactive learning experience that blends multimedia content, teacher supervision, and project-based assessments throughout the academic year. SDAIA said the platform reflects a modern teaching model that places equal emphasis on theoretical understanding and practical engagement.
'This initiative represents a key step toward empowering the next generation with the tools and skills they need to thrive in the data-driven economies of the future,' SDAIA said in a statement.
The curriculum also falls within Saudi Arabia's vision to become a regional and global leader in data and AI, reinforcing the Kingdom's shift toward knowledge-based and innovation-led growth. The course is one of several projects led by SDAIA to boost national capabilities, improve data infrastructure, and cultivate AI talent across various sectors.

Saudi Arabia Shuts 267 Digital Platforms To Boost Unified Government Services

Saudi Arabia's Digital Government Authority (DGA) has announced the closure and integration of 267 digital platforms across various government sectors as part of ongoing efforts to enhance user experience and increase digital efficiency. The move reflects a broader commitment to improving the quality of government digital services and ensuring platform integration in line with Saudi Arabia's strategic digital transformation goals. According to a statement from the DGA, the closures come under a regulatory framework that includes new governance standards, the adoption of shared technical resources such as the National Single Sign-On system, e-payment gateways, and the Government Integration Channel. All platforms are also required to adhere to the unified design code known as the 'Platform Code,' enabling streamlined and effective digital services. The initiative is part of the 'Inclusive Government' program launched in 2022, which has reduced the number of government digital platforms from 817 to 550 as of the end of H1 2025. The program aims to optimize government resource usage and deliver more efficient and user-centered digital services, supporting the Kingdom's broader digital transformation and improving public satisfaction. The DGA emphasized the importance of collaboration among government entities in developing and managing domains and digital platforms. Central to the strategy is the national app 'Tawakkalna,' operated by the Saudi Data and Artificial Intelligence Authority (SDAIA), which is being positioned as the primary gateway for accessing unified government services. The authority reaffirmed its commitment to building an integrated digital ecosystem that enhances the performance of digital platforms and elevates the Kingdom's position in global digital government indicators.

Charity-Led Forum Empowers Bahrain's Youth Futures

TDT | Manama A new community-driven career forum is set to provide Bahraini students with sharper guidance on their academic and professional futures, as the Horizons Initiative prepares to host its first major event this September. Organised in partnership with Isa Town Charity Society and the Bahrain Society for Sickle Cell Disease Patients Care, the initiative aims to build an early bridge between students, their families, and the evolving demands of the labour market. The forum aligns with Bahrain's Vision 2030 and the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals, offering a platform for students to make informed career decisions. Forum ambitions The announcement was made at an introductory meeting held at Al Ayam newspaper hall, attended by MP Jalila Alawi Al Sayed Hasan, Ibrahim Ali Abdul Rahman Al Burshid, Assistant Undersecretary for Education at the Ministry of Education, and other education and training specialists. During the session, officials presented the forum's core objectives, describing it as a pivotal opportunity to empower students by helping them explore academic and career pathways both within Bahrain and abroad. They explained that the forum is intended to complement existing guidance programmes run by the Ministry of Education and align with Tamkeen's broader efforts to develop national talent. Beyond financial aid Speakers stressed that charitable work should go beyond financial support, calling for early and sustained engagement with students and their families to help them make informed decisions about their professional futures. Without such guidance, they warned, students risk choosing paths that may not reflect actual labour market needs. The upcoming forum will include lectures, one-on-one counselling, interactive workshops, and conversations with industry experts. A key focus will be introducing participants to future-facing specialisations that reflect shifts in the global job landscape.

Saudi Arabia To Introduce AI Curriculum Across All Public Schools Starting 2025

Saudi Arabia will roll out a comprehensive artificial intelligence (AI) curriculum across all levels of public education beginning in the 2025–2026 academic year. The initiative, led by the National Curriculum Center in partnership with the Ministry of Education, the Ministry of Communications and Information Technology, and the Saudi Data and Artificial Intelligence Authority (SDAIA), represents a major step in embedding AI literacy into the Kingdom's educational framework. The curriculum, which aligns with the goals of the Human Capability Development Program under Vision 2030, is designed to empower students from early education through higher learning with essential digital competencies and AI fluency. It aims to nurture a generation capable of driving innovation and positioning Saudi Arabia as a leader in emerging technologies. Students will be introduced to age-appropriate AI concepts through interactive and practical learning modules, ensuring continuity and progression throughout the educational journey, from primary school to vocational and university tracks, and into lifelong learning. AI learning outcomes will be formally incorporated into the national student performance assessment system. The new curriculum will instil core technical skills while fostering critical thinking and ethical understanding of AI. The announcement follows the successful pilot of an 'Introduction to Artificial Intelligence' course for third-year secondary students in the general track, unveiled earlier this year at the Human Capability Initiative conference. Developed collaboratively by SDAIA, the National Curriculum Centre, and the Ministry of Education, the pilot laid the groundwork for national implementation.
