Hanamkonda: MLA, Mayor lay foundation stone for devpt works worth Rs1 cr
Hanamkonda: MLA Naini Rajender Reddy along with city Mayor Gundu Sudharani laid the foundation stone for internal road and box drain construction works worth Rs 1 crore in the 30th division of Warangal West constituency, at Kakatiya Zoo Park on Thursday.
Speaking on the occasion, MLA Naini said that special attention was given to allocating funds so that visitors to the zoo park do not face any inconvenience. He instructed the concerned officials to complete the works by the rainy season and make them accessible to the public. Local public representatives, party leaders, and officials participated in the program.

Record 57% MNREGS funds spent on agri activities in UP
Lucknow: The utilisation of Mahatma Gandhi National Rural Employment Guarantee Scheme (MNREGS) funds on agriculture and allied activities reached an all-time high of more than 57% in Uttar Pradesh, in what is seen as yet another indicator of the Yogi Adityanath govt's ever-sharpening focus on the farming sector to boost the state economy. The UP govt spent 57.41% of the total over Rs 4,400 crore released by the Centre to UP under the flagship scheme on agriculture and allied activities in the first quarter of the 2025-26 fiscal, according to the latest data from the rural development department. This was 13 percentage points more than in 2024-25 when 44.36% of the total MNREGS funds were spent on agriculture and allied activities in the state. Even during the pandemic, when economic activities came to a grinding halt and scores of people migrated back to their villages, only 33.76% of the MNREGS funds were spent on agriculture. MNREGS is a demand-driven scheme, meaning funds are released to states based on the agreed-upon labour budget. Officials in the rural development department said that the activities primarily carried out under MNREGS included land development, construction of irrigation canals, water harvesting structures, construction of farm ponds, plantation activities, and fencing. Unlike temporary wage work, agriculture-related MNREGS projects will help create long-term infrastructure (like irrigation systems, ponds, bunds, etc.) that directly benefit farming productivity. Spending on agriculture, analysts said, also leads to multiplier benefits—improved irrigation, better yields, and more income for farmers, which in turn stimulates local rural economies. Activities like the construction of ponds may primarily help small and marginal farmers in storing water during dry months.

Rs 264 cr allocated for school infrastructure development: Tripura CM

Apart from this, infrastructure will be developed in about 30 more schools. An allocation of about Rs 264 crore has been made for this. This year, about 345 schools have achieved 100 per cent results in secondary education. The total pass rate is 86.53%. 39 schools have achieved 100% results in higher secondary education. The pass rate is 79.29%,' he added. "We doubt their intention to fulfil this promise regarding caste census": Sachin Pilot
New Delhi [India], June 17 (ANI): Congress leader Sachin Pilot on Tuesday questioned the intention of the BJP-led Union government over the caste census, accusing them of delaying the exercise earlier by citing COVID as an excuse. On caste census, Congress leader Sachin Pilot told reporters, 'BJP and PM Modi had earlier said that the demand for a caste census is being raised by 'Urban Naxals', and they even mentioned in parliament in writing that they do not want to conduct it. After pressure from the opposition, they suddenly accepted our demand. But the notification now says the census will be conducted in 2027. He also questioned the budget allocation to start the exercise in 2027. 'Earlier, they delayed it using COVID as an excuse, and even now, we doubt their intention to fulfil this promise. Around Rs 8,000-10,000 crore is usually spent on the census, but this government has allocated only Rs 570 crore in the budget' He stated that the caste census ensures that the government schemes' benefits reach every beneficiary. 'The caste census is not just to know a person's caste -- it is to ensure that government schemes are reaching the people, to check whether they are benefiting from them, and to understand the employment rate...' The notification to conduct the Census was published in the official Gazette on Monday, following a high-level meeting held in Delhi, where the Home Minister reviewed the plan along with the Union Home Secretary, Registrar General and Census Commissioner of India (RG&CCI), and other senior officials. The Population Census 2027 will begin with a reference date of March 1, 2027, for most parts of the country. The reference date for snow-bound and non-synchronous areas such as Ladakh, Jammu and Kashmir, Himachal Pradesh, and Uttarakhand will be October 1, 2026. (ANI)
