Selena's Killer Reportedly Blames Late Singer For Her Own Death
Selena Quintanilla-Pérez's killer, Yolanda Saldívar, is eligible for parole later this month, and is blaming the Queen of Tejano Music for her own death.
In an interview with The New York Post, a member of Saldívar's family stated, '[Yolanda] knows what she did was wrong and she takes responsibility for it. But she was reacting to the way she was confronted.'
The anonymous person said that Saldívar claimed '[Selena] came at her really aggressively. She was so thrown off with how forceful Selena was being; everything happened so fast. If Selena had confronted her differently, this never would have happened.'
The 64-year-old, who's currently serving a life sentence for the 1995 murder, believes that Selena's death was 'accidental' and also claims that the singer planned to commit suicide prior to the murder.
Saldívar fatally shot Selena on March 31, 1995 in a Corpus Christi hotel room. She believed Saldívar was embezzling money from her. Since her initial conviction, she's tried to appeal her sentence and it was always rejected.
In the documentary Selena and Yolanda: The Secrets Between Them, Saldívar shared, 'I was convicted by public opinion even before my trial started.' Inmates at the Patrick L. O'Daniel Unit in Gatesville, Texas, where she's being held, told The Post that Saldívar is separated from the general population.
Former inmate Yesenia Dominguez explained, 'Everyone was always like, 'Let me have five minutes with that b***h.' Everyone wanted to get justice for Selena. There's a target on her back.'
Saldívar's family is willing to house her if released, adding, 'We have never forsaken her. But I don't know where she's going to get a job. Who will hire her?'
A decision will be rendered by the parole board at the end of the month.

They shouldn't have trouble making bail. Cops cuffed 86 demonstrators at a rowdy anti-ICE rally in Lower Manhattan Tuesday, among them the daughter of a Moroccan actor, a self-proclaimed poet from an upscale college and a coed whose family owns a posh home in the Hamptons, The Post has learned. 'My sense is, the vast majority of the 2,500 people that were there, were there to protest peacefully,' NYPD Commissioner Jessica Tisch said on Fox 5 News. 'There was a smaller group of a few hundred where we did have to make arrests. Some of them were looking for trouble.' The protest in Foley Square against deportation arrests by federal immigration agents began peacefully but grew increasingly violent shortly after 5 p.m., with the mob hurling bottles at cops and throwing traffic cones into traffic, an NYPD spokesperson said. Of the 86 who were charged, 52 were issued summonses for disorderly conduct and other minor charges, while 34 were arrested and charged with more serious crimes, including felony assault. Among those busted was Vega Gullette, a 19-year-old student at Sarah Lawrence College in Yonkers who describes herself as 'a Moroccan-American writer, artist, and lover of junk.' The teen, who was charged with attempted assault in the second-degree and obstructing government administration, is the daughter of Sean Gullette, an actor, screenwriter and director whose credits include the Darren Aronofsky films 'Requiem for a Dream' and 'Pi.' Gullette had a group of friends show up to her court hearing on Wednesday in a show of support, some of whom draped themselves in keffiyehs, which are associated with pro-Palestine political movements. Also among those charged was Rachel Schreiber, 22, of Brooklyn, who is facing resisting arrest, reckless endangerment and attempted assault charges in the melee. She smiled when she saw the large group of friends, some of whom wore masks, who showed up for her hearing in Manhattan criminal court. 'So many,' she said to herself while she walked out of the courtroom. Records show her parents own a $3 million home in Westhampton Beach. 'I'm not giving any reaction,' her mother told The Post Wednesday. 'I'm not ready to talk about this with the press.' Some of the pinched protesters are no strangers to Big Apple demonstrations. Robert Mills, 40, who was charged with reckless endangerment and issued a disorderly conduct citation in Tuesday's scuffle, was charged with obstructing governmental administration in April during an anti-Israeli protest in Brooklyn, the Jewish News Syndicate reported. Tabitha Howell, 40 — who was cited for disorderly conduct — was among those injured when a crazed Queens woman drove into a Manhattan Black Lives matter protest in 2020. 'It's one thing to face physical recovery,' Howell, who said she suffered five bulging discs in her back and a traumatic brain injury in the incident, told The Post at the time. 'It's another to try to process what happened mentally and emotionally.' Meanwhile, Tisch and Mayor Eric Adams gave assurances this week that the city will not devolve in to chaos like Los Angeles, where ICE agents sparked outbreaks of violence that required the National Guard to step in to try to restore peace. Arizona medical examiner reveals how killer dad Shawn Ryan Grell died in notoriously violent prison
A murderous dad serving a life sentence for burning his 2-year-old daughter alive 26 years ago died of lung cancer in his cell at a notoriously violent Arizona prison, an autopsy revealed this week. The body of convicted murderer Shawn Ryan Grell, 50, was discovered by authorities in the Arizona State Prison Complex in Tucson on April 19. Officials did not disclose any details about his death at the time. A report from the medical examiner obtained by The Post on Wednesday revealed Grell died of natural causes. Advertisement Grell's death generated online speculation over whether it was a result of a revenge killing by another inmate, given the horrifying nature of his crime. That speculation came as legislators were calling for sweeping reforms at the Arizona Department of Corrections after three inmates were savagely murdered 15 days before in the same prison complex where Grell died. The three prisoners were killed on April 4 by Ricky Wassenaar, a notorious convict who is serving 16 life sentences for murder and his role in one of the longest prison hostage situations in American history, according to prison officials. 5 Grell was serving a life sentence for killing his 2-year-old daughter over two decades ago. He weighed just 134 pounds and had bad teeth, according to the report. Grell was serving a life sentence for murdering his daughter over 25 years ago. He picked up Kristen Salem from a Mesa day care on Dec. 2, 1999, and took her to McDonald's for lunch, according to court records. 5 The medical examiner's report put to rest online speculation that another inmate killed Grell. He told the tot they were going to see Christmas lights, reported, but instead he drove to Target to buy a plastic gas can and gasoline, according to court documents. He then drove to the desert outside Mesa, laid his sleeping daughter on the ground, doused her in gasoline and lit her on fire, the records said. 'I took the gasoline and I poured it on her,' he told investigators during a videotaped interview. 'I took the match and threw it on her,' he added with no trace of emotion in his voice.
