Egloff Abandons Everest Race; Andrews Continues & Nears South Col
Karl Egloff of Ecuador, climbing without supplementary oxygen, turned around shortly before Camp 3. According to his home team, he is okay and descending to Base Camp.
"Conditions were not suitable for a no-O2 ascent," Egloff's wife told ExplorersWeb. "He followed his instinct and experience to go down when necessary."
She explained that Egloff had a bad feeling and decided to listen to it and retreat. He informed his team in Base Camp that he had already passed Camp 2 on the way down. Egloff is continuing all the way back to Base Camp. He wants to avoid being in the Khumbu Icefall during the warm day, when it is more unstable.
The Ecuadorian had hoped to set a Fastest Known Time on Everest from Base Camp to the summit and back to Base Camp.
Tyler Andrews of the U.S. abruptly changed his plans shortly before starting, but the conservative decision may have given him a chance to come away with a partial success.
Like Egloff, he had originally planned to do without bottled oxygen, but today, he decided otherwise. Andrews started using oxygen at Camp 2 and is carrying on, despite high winds.
There is no recent news from Andrews, as his tracker's signal froze when the climber was nearly at 7,500m, midway between Camp 3 and Camp 4.
Tyler Andrews' progress can be tracked here. Egloff's tracker is here.

Lowcountry doctor believes Lindsey Graham is ‘beatable' in SC Senate race
CHARLESTON, S.C. (WSAV) – A Lowcountry doctor said the time to stay on the sidelines is over. Now she is making a second run at a South Carolina political office. Dr. Annie Andrews has officially announced her candidacy for South Carolina Senate. She will run as a Democrat for the seat currently held by Lindsey Graham. Andrews, a Charleston Pediatrician, made an unsuccessful run for the SC District 1 Congressional seat in 2022. Since that race she has stayed active, gaining a strong presence as an advocate on social media. Because of the state of the nation it was time to get off the web and into the race. 'Everything that I've seen happen since the inauguration in 2020 helps me understand how necessary it is for voices like mine to step up and to take on these fights,' Andrews said. 'As a physician, I'm watching this coordinated attack on our nation's health care system and our nation's public health infrastructure. With the elevation of a conspiracy theorist to the secretary of the Department of Health and Human Services, we're seeing this coordinated attack gutting our nation's Medicaid program, which is the largest insurer for children in South Carolina.' A dedicated pediatrician and public health expert, Andrews talks about her career career on the frontlines-treating kids with gunshot wounds, kids whose families can't afford insulin or even their next meal, and kids in mental health crises with nowhere to turn. She called what's going on in Washington 'corruption and BS', hurting real families, and that our kids are paying the price. 'It is infuriating because I know that Lindsey Graham doesn't really actually care about the Medicaid program or the SNAP program,' Andrews said. 'But he's willing to cut them for the sole purpose of delivering tax cuts to billionaires because he's a corrupt career politician who has lost his way and lost touch with the people of South Carolina.' It is the people of South Carolina that Andrews wants to hear from and serve if elected. 'He (Graham) boldly said into a microphone not that long ago that he doesn't need a town hall because he's in Washington, D.C. to do what Donald Trump tells him to do.' Andrews said. 'Well, that's not the job of a U.S. Senator. You know, I believe in the kids and families in South Carolina. I believe in South Carolina. And I'm not afraid to stand up to people like Lindsey Graham who are willing to sell them out.' That 'sell out' starts with the latest Trump budget proposal. 'This bill that he is so eager to vote yes on will kick 1.1 million South Carolinians off of the Medicaid program,' Andrews said. 'Our hospitals cannot sustain a budget impact like that. This will impact every single person in the state, whether you are on the Medicaid program or not. And it is cruel and devastating. And I can't sit on the sidelines while our elected senator is willing to go along with this plan.' While Andrews knows it's a tall task to take out Graham, an incumbent who has been in office since 2002, recent elections in the state, and the reaction of the people she has spoken to, give her hope. 'South Carolina, House District 50. That's a district that Kamala carried by five points and the Democrat won it by 42 points,' Andrews details. 'That's a 37-point swing, which tells you that everything is in play. And we cannot count out Democrats just because we're in a red state. Republicans and Democrats alike are fed up with the chaos from this administration because of career corrupt politicians like Lindsey Graham. I wouldn't be in this race if I didn't think it was winnable. He's as vulnerable as he ever has been because he says he's as corrupt as he ever has, he ever has been, and someone needs to run against him, and I am prepared to do that. And I will bring home a victory in November 2026 if people give this campaign a chance.' Andrews is one of four Democratic candidates announced so far. Graham has two challengers who have already signed on to run against him in the Republican primary. Dr. Annie Andrews for Senate Copyright 2025 Nexstar Media, Inc. All rights reserved. Erin Andrews, Charissa Thompson's Message to Taylor Swift Catches Attention
Erin Andrews, Charissa Thompson's Message to Taylor Swift Catches Attention originally appeared on Athlon Sports. Erin Andrews, along with fellow NFL analyst Charissa Thompson, have supported Kansas City Chiefs tight end Travis Kelce's relationship with Taylor Swift since the beginning. "He's such a great guy to cover," Andrews told Athlon Sports. "He's always been super wonderful to me and anybody really in sports broadcasting. He's one of our guys in the league. He makes it so much fun." While both Thompson and Andres are proud Swifties, they've also gotten to know the 14-time Grammy winner since she first started dating Kelce nearly two years ago. Andrews joined the 10-time Pro Bowler and Swift during a getaway to Big Sky, Montana in March, while Swift recently sent Thompson her famous homemade pop tarts for the sportscaster's birthday. While Swift has kept a very low profile this offseason, the "Karma" singer broke her social media silence to announce she finally bought back her masters from albums released between 2006 and 2017. Swift wrote, "All of the music I've ever made… now belongs… to me... Every single era. My entire life's work. Andrews and Thompson strongly reacted to Swift's big news on Thursday's episode of their "Calm Down" podcast. Andrews added a personal message on X, "Love she could do this for herself and the message it sends!! Get 'em @taylorswift." She added on the podcast, "The message that sends out to women, like don't give up. Go after what's yours... She didn't give up. She showed people like, I will get it back... I just think that's so powerful." Thompson said of Swift's reclaiming her music, "That's your heart and soul and blood and that's you're experiences so then for somebody else to just own that... So happy for that she has the back." The sportscaster's message immediately caught fans' attention. One person commented, "You ladies always supporting Taylor and all women doing amazing things... it's beautiful to see!" One X user wrote, "Love to see y'all address the implications that has for all of us who are fighting smaller but no less important battles in our own work/industry. Thanks, queens!" One woman added, "Agreed! I'm so happy for Taylor, and I also love the message this sends to women never to give up."This story was originally reported by Athlon Sports on Jun 5, 2025, where it first appeared.

People Are Absolutely Fired Up Over This Pediatrician Seeking To Unseat Lindsey Graham In 2026
You've almost certainly heard the name (and of the various misdeeds) of Lindsey Graham if you've been politically conscious at any point since 2003. That's the year he was sworn into the US Senate, representing his home state of South Carolina. He's held the seat ever since. Senator Graham gained more national recognition during President Donald Trump's first campaign, widely and publicly criticizing him before pulling a complete 180 and defending many of his political moves over the last decade. Graham is currently serving his fourth term, but he's up for reelection next year. That's where Dr. Annie Andrews, a South Carolina doctor, comes in. She's running as a Democrat for Lindsey Graham's seat. She previously sought to defeat incumbent Republican Nancy Mace in the 2022 race for South Carolina's District 1 House seat, but was unsuccessful. I could list out her policies, but she does it best in a campaign announcement that's gone viral across platforms. She starts the video by saying she's been a pediatrician in South Carolina for nearly two decades, trusted by parents "to treat their kids for just about anything you can imagine." She then pulls out a series of X-rays of children with different medical conditions, each to highlight a specific point about her views. First is a child with measles pneumonia, "a condition easily prevented by vaccines," she says. "This is a kid with cancer. One of the diseases the NIH doesn't have the funding to study anymore," Dr. Andrews continues, showing more X-rays. "And this is a kid who's been shot. Which, despite being the number one cause of death for children in America, is no longer classified as a public health crisis." Dr. Annie Andrews for Senate / COURIER / TikTok / Via She then says, with an X-ray of a constipated patient, "And this kid, there's really no other way to say this... is quite literally full of shit." Andrews then points to a video of Senator Graham. "And this is an adult who is also completely and unequivocally full of shit." "It's embarrassing, and South Carolina deserves better," Dr. Andrews says. She also slams the current administration, from Elon Musk's cutting Social Security funding to "vaccine-denying brain worm guy" Robert F. Kennedy Jr. gutting healthcare programs. She also mentions Secretary of Education Linda McMahon's mass layoffs and Secretary of Defense Pete Hegseth's war-plans-on-Signal blunder. "And Lindsey Graham voted to confirm every single one of these people," Andrews says, then bangs her head on her dining table next to a wine glass. I feel you, girl. "All while backing Trump's plan to cut taxes for millionaires and billionaires while raising yours. No wonder he won't show his face here in South Carolina," she goes on, cutting to a clip of Graham. "I don't need a town hall to know what to do," he says in it. "Lindsey Graham has been a senator for half of my lifetime — and as it turns out, most senators don't get better with age," Dr. Andrews says. "Will winning this race be easy? No. But you can't win if you don't run. And the one thing we can all agree on is [that] Lindsey Graham doesn't deserve a free pass back to D.C." Because that's what weak men do when they feel threatened by strong women," she continues before offering a look into her very normal life as a busy mom and peek-a-boo-playing pediatrician. "SO radical," she jokes. "I also just happen to be someone who isn't afraid of a fight. And like so many of you, I am worried about what the future holds for our kids and our state," she says, then goes on to name issues like the climate crisis, failing hospitals and schools, and prices driven up by tariffs. "Worrying won't do anything, but stepping up to join me in this fight just might," Dr. Andrews says. "A fight where we put our common sense over culture wars and hope over hate." "Right now, Lindsey Graham is counting on all of us to stay quiet. And that means one thing — it's time to get loud. I'm Dr. Annie Andrews, and I hope you'll join me," she concludes. Courier posted the video on TikTok, where people were absolutely fired up. "YES. DOCTORS IN POLITICS," the top comment reads. Some folks said that Dr. Andrews is bringing the energy that Democrats have been lacking... ...and the youth. "This is how we flip Congress. An impressive and competent candidate who understands the messaging we need to be pushing. Well done," this person wrote. A lot of people were just blown away by her poise and candor. A TON of South Carolina folks were super amped up. "One of the best ads I've seen," someone wrote. You can watch Dr. Andrews's full ad here.
