Indoor sports complex to be completed soon
Rajamahendravaram: A state-of-the-art multi-sports indoor complex will soon be made available to the public, informed Municipal Commissioner Ketan Garg.
On Tuesday, he inspected the ongoing works at the complex located in Narayanapuram, which were initiated in connection with the Godavari Pushkaralu development works. Accompanied by engineering officials, the Commissioner reviewed the progress of the works and examined the sports equipment being installed.
Speaking to the media, Ketan Garg said that the indoor sports complex is being constructed at a cost of approximately Rs 4.30 crore and will be equipped with all modern facilities. The complex will include facilities for shooting, snooker (billiards), table tennis, chess, carroms, and also a gym with the latest fitness equipment.
He stated that the new multi-sports complex will significantly help in grooming talented sportspersons in the city and contribute to creating a sports-friendly atmosphere in Rajamahendravaram. He instructed the officials to complete the remaining work within five days.
SE Koteshwara Rao, EE Rita, and other staff members accompanied the Commissioner during the inspection.

Reflecting on how the journey of setting up the academy started, Lovlina said, 'After the 2024 Olympic, I got some time and I had a plot which I bought in 2021. So I thought I could build it like an academy with whatever finance I had in a very basic way, providing them a basic infrastructure where students can train at a basic level... We named it as Lovlina Boxing Academy. I installed a quality boxing ring with some bags, and along with that, we are providing a gym for all the students and for the general public.' Describing her and her academy's vision, she further added, 'My vision is to empower youth and give a platform at the grassroots level where they can fulfill their dream and get as many resources as possible. My dream is to produce quality boxers who can compete at national as well as international level by 2028. I want to help young talents to grow and become strong in sports. "Will issue notice to KSCA, RCB and Police Commissioner": Bengaluru stampede investigating officer Jagadeesha
Bengaluru (Karnataka) [India], June 5 (ANI): G Jagadeesha, the Bengaluru Urban Deputy Commissioner and the investigating officer of the Bengaluru stampede incident, on Thursday said that he will issue a notice to the Karnataka Cricket Board, Royal Challengers Bengaluru management, and others. Jagadeesha inspected the incident site near the Chinnaswamy Stadium, along with his officials, today. Speaking to the media, he said, 'I will issue notice to KSCA (Karnataka State Cricket Association), RCB, Event Manager, Police Commissioner...I will issue a notice to RCB management.' Meanwhile, following the horrific incident during their IPL winning celebrations, the Royal Challengers Bengaluru (RCB) has come forward with a compassionate gesture to honour those affected. Deeply moved by the turn of events, RCB released an official statement expressing profound grief and pledged immediate financial assistance to the families of the deceased. 'The unfortunate incident in Bengaluru yesterday caused a lot of anguish and pain for the RCB family. As a mark of respect and a gesture of solidarity, RCB has announced a financial support of Rs 10 lakh to each of the eleven families of the deceased. In addition, a fund called RCB Cares is also being created to support fans injured in this tragic incident,' the statement read. Acknowledging the injuries sustained by other fans during the incident, the franchise has also set up a dedicated relief initiative named 'RCB Cares', aimed at extending medical and financial aid to those hurt. 'Our fans have always been the heartbeat of RCB. We remain united in grief,' the franchise said. The incident occurred on Wednesday during the Royal Challengers Bengaluru's IPL winning celebrations near the iconic M Chinnaswamy Stadium, when thousands of fans gathered to catch a glimpse of their favourite players. Karnataka Chief Minister Siddaramaiah stated at a press conference that 11 people died in the incident while 33 others were injured. Earlier today, the Karnataka High Court notified the state government about the stampede and again listed the matter for hearing on June 10. The High Court took suo motu cognisance of the incident and asked for a further status report. 'We have expressed ourselves to the Advocate General, and he has filed a status report, which is taken on record. Registry is directed to register this suo-motu cognisance as a suo-moto WP. Gautam Gambhir on Bengaluru stampede: Never believed we needed roadshows to celebrate
India head coach Gautam Gambhir expressed deep sorrow over the tragic stampede in Bengaluru that claimed 11 lives during the RCB's celebrations, saying he was never a believer in holding roadshows for victory events since such gatherings can put lives at the event being ticketed and organised by the Karnataka State Cricket Association (KSCA), nearly 2.5 lakh fans thronged the stadium premises, leading to chaos and a fatal stampede. The deceased included young men and women aged between 13 and 35. Six deaths were reported at Bowring Hospital, four at Vydehi Hospital, and one at Manipal the media, Gambhir reiterated his long-held view that such open-road celebrations are unnecessary. "Lives are more important and I will continue to say that even in the future. In the future, we should be a little bit more aware of having these road shows. We can probably be little bit aware of not having these road shows. We can have these (celebrations) inside closed doors or in a stadium. It's very tragic. My heart goes out to the families and the loved ones of the victims. I hope, in future, nothing like this happens. We shouldn't have done that. You can't, at any point, lose 11 people. For me, the road show should not have happened," Gambhir said while addressing the pre-departure press conference in Mumbai. Calling for a rethink of how teams celebrate with fans, Gambhir urged organisers to exercise greater caution. "Can't say whether the fan base has increased or all that. All I can say is we need to be responsible citizens. We need to responsible in every aspect, whether being a franchise or everything. Every life matters. If you not ready to hold a roadshow, you shouldn't have done that. As simple as it can get," he know fans get excited, fanbases get excited, but nothing compared to what happened yesterday. I can't sit here and say who is responsible. Winning is important. Celebrating is important. But, what's more important is the lives of common people. If you are not prepared, if you can't handle the crowd, then might as well, we don't do these roadshows," Gambhir on Thursday, RCB had announced "financial support of INR 10 lakh to each of the eleven families of the deceased" and setting up of an RCB Cares fund in aid of the "fans injured in this tragic incident." The Karnataka State Cricket Association (KSCA) also stated it would give Rs 5 lakh to each of the families of the people who died in the stampede around the Chinnaswamy secretary Devajit Saikia, speaking to India Today, said the BCCI was not responsible for the event but acknowledged that there were lapses in its organisation.
