Celebration marks RMC annual awards function
Rajamahendravaram: The Rajamahendravaram Municipal Corporation (RMC) hosted its inaugural RMC annual awards ceremony on Thursday night with grandeur at the BVR Sri Convention Hall on Gadalammanagar Road. Municipal Commissioner Ketan Garg presided over the event, while District Collector P Prasanthi, Joint Collector S ChinnaRamudu, and SP D Narasinha Kishore graced the occasion as chief guests. The celebration featured vibrant cultural programmes, including music and dance performances by municipal officials and staff, creating a festive atmosphere. The cultural displays, especially the dance performances by employees, were the highlight of the evening. Speaking on the occasion, Collector Prasanthi said that such events offer a welcome break and refreshments for officials and staff who work under constant pressure. She noted that the awards not only boost morale but also instill a sense of responsibility. She urged everyone to maintain the same level of dedication and continue working wholeheartedly for public welfare. Commending Commissioner Ketan Garg, she appreciated the initiative for combining vision-driven governance with uplifting programmes for staff well-being. Commissioner Ketan Garg stated that the objective of the event was to recognise the dedication and excellence of officials and staff who have excelled in their duties. He explained the corporation's achievements over the past year in areas such as revenue generation and the Swachh Andhra initiative, attributing this success to the collective efforts of all departments. Expressing confidence in continued teamwork, he expressed hope that RMC would soon become the top municipal body in the state. Outstanding performers from the Revenue, Engineering, Health, and City Planning departments were honoured with certificates and cash awards. Staff from various ward secretariats across the city were also recognised for their contributions. Among the dignitaries present were RDO Krishna Naik, Regional Director of Municipal Administration Naga Narasimha Rao, APEPDCL SE Tilak, Additional Commissioner PV Ramalingeswara Rao, Deputy Commissioner S Venkata Ramana, Secretary G Shailaja Valli, SE (Engineering) MCH Koteshwar Rao, EE Madarsha Ali, City Planner G Kotayya, MHO Dr Vinuthna, Manager MD Abdul Malik, Revenue Officer Ch Srinivasa Rao and others participated.

Indoor sports complex to be completed soon
Rajamahendravaram: A state-of-the-art multi-sports indoor complex will soon be made available to the public, informed Municipal Commissioner Ketan Garg. On Tuesday, he inspected the ongoing works at the complex located in Narayanapuram, which were initiated in connection with the Godavari Pushkaralu development works. Accompanied by engineering officials, the Commissioner reviewed the progress of the works and examined the sports equipment being installed. Speaking to the media, Ketan Garg said that the indoor sports complex is being constructed at a cost of approximately Rs 4.30 crore and will be equipped with all modern facilities. The complex will include facilities for shooting, snooker (billiards), table tennis, chess, carroms, and also a gym with the latest fitness equipment. He stated that the new multi-sports complex will significantly help in grooming talented sportspersons in the city and contribute to creating a sports-friendly atmosphere in Rajamahendravaram. He instructed the officials to complete the remaining work within five days. SE Koteshwara Rao, EE Rita, and other staff members accompanied the Commissioner during the inspection.

PGRS: Grievances registered online
Rajamahendravaram: Commissioner of Rajamahendravaram Municipal Corporation Ketan Garg said that every grievance received through the Public Grievance Redressal System (PGRS) is significant and must be resolved promptly and sincerely. He directed the officials to ensure the immediate resolution of all complaints received during the public grievance redressal session held at the Municipal Corporation office on Monday. A total of 29 grievances were registered, including four related to revenue, one to sanitation, two to public health, five to town planning, eight to engineering, eight toward secretariats, and one to MEPMA. The Commissioner instructed the heads of the respective departments (HODs) to take proactive measures to resolve the grievances by Saturday. He emphasised that in certain cases, senior officials might need to conduct field inspections to understand the issues better and provide clear and accurate responses to the complainants. Commissioner Ketan Garg also announced that every grievance submitted would be registered online, and complainants would receive a receipt specifying the timeline for resolution. Following the session, the Commissioner reviewed the status of pending grievances and conducted a teleconference with ward secretariat secretaries to understand the reasons behind unresolved complaints. He made it clear that no application should remain pending at any level.

Rajahmundry all set for transformation
Rajamahendravaram: The cityscape of Rajamahendravaram is poised for a significant transformation through its association with the River Cities Alliance (RCA) programme, according to Commissioner Ketan Garg. Following an invitation and directives from the Commissioner, a team from the National Institute of Urban Affairs (NIUA) conducted an inspection of the city on Thursday. Commissioner Garg explained that the RCA is an ambitious programme aimed at developing cities situated along riverbanks. He stated that this initiative is jointly undertaken by the National Mission for Clean Ganga (NMCG) and the NIUA. Launched on November 25, 2021, by the then Union Minister of Jal Shakti, the programme has so far garnered membership from 146 cities. For the development of these cities, the NMCG and NIUA have jointly formulated the Urban River Management Plan (URMP). This plan provides comprehensive strategies necessary for sustainably managing the riverine environment within the cities. Commissioner Garg highlighted that the cities like Kanpur, Ayodhya, Bareilly, Moradabad, and Chhatrapati Sambhajinagar are already successfully implementing the URMP framework with technical assistance from NMCG and NIUA. Over the course of two days, the NIUA team, accompanied by officials from municipal administration, revenue, forest, tourism, RUDA (Urban Development Authority), and PHED (Public Health Engineering Department), toured the city. The team inspected more than 15 key river-related sites. Following the site visits, a multi-stakeholder meeting was held with officials from all relevant departments. The NIUA team recognised Rajamahendravaram as a suitable location for developing the riverine environment, according to the Commissioner. He expressed confidence that in the coming days, Rajamahendravaram will become even more beautiful and an exemplary city through the implementation of the URMP.

Godavari riverfront development plan works commence in Rajamahendravaram City
The Rajamahendravaram Municipal Corporation (RMC) kick-started works of the ₹8 crore Godavari Riverfront Development Plan along the banks of river Godavari, in preparation for the Godavari Pushkarams in 2027 with a bhumi puja ceremony. As part of the river-front development, 22 parks with supporting infrastructure will be developed along the banks of the river Godavari. Additionally, East Godavari Collector P. Prasanthi, announced that the Centre has granted ₹100 crore for the Akhanda Godavari project and works would begin soon. Of this ₹97 crore would be spent on the beautification and development of infrastructure facilities within the Rajamahendravaram city. RMC Commissioner Ketan Garg said that works worth ₹128 crore related to the Godavari Pushkarams-2027 are currently underway in the city. Attending the bhumi puja for the river-front development works were Rajamahendravaram MLA Adireddi Srinivas, Rajanagaram MLA B. Balarama Krishna, Rajamahendravaram Urban Development Authority Chairman Boddu Venkataramana Chowdary and other public representatives.
