Alejandro Garnacho transfer preference emerges as Chelsea swap deal proposed

Manchester United want to sell Alejandro Garnacho in the summer transfer window to raise funds for a rebuild and a potential swap move to Chelsea could work for all parties Alejandro Garnacho is keen on a move to Chelsea this summer, opening the door to a potential eye-catching swap deal with Christopher Nkunku. Manchester United are keen to sell Garnacho in the summer transfer window and Chelsea appear to be the most likely destination. Garnacho knows he is not in Ruben Amorim's plans for the 2025/26 campaign, despite returning 11 goals and 10 assists in 58 games last season. United will listen to offers for any of their players this summer and the 20-year-old winger could be their most valuable asset as Amorim plots a rebuild. ‌ He attracted interest from Chelsea and Napoli in the January transfer window and the direction of travel was made obvious by the events last month. Garnacho reacted furiously to being left on the bench for the Europa League final and was left out of the squad for United's 2-0 win over Aston Villa on the final day of the season. ‌ It emerged on Monday that Chelsea and United were considering a swap deal involving Garnacho and Nkunku. No direct talks have yet been held, but with both clubs keen to offload the attackers it could be a fruitful avenue. The Athletic reports that Garnacho would be open to joining Chelsea because he wants to stay in the Premier League and would favour a move to London this summer. The Blues are closing in on the signing of Borussia Dortmund winger Jamie Gittens in a deal which could impact a move for Garnacho. Chelsea have already signed Liam Delap from Ipswich for £30m and decided against signing Jadon Sancho permanently from United. As well as Nkunku, there are doubts surrounding the future of Noni Madueke, who is of interest to Arsenal, while Mykhailo Mudryk remains unavailable amid a doping probe. Despite all the speculation, Chelsea boss Enzo Maresca says Nkunku is focused on playing for the team at the Club World Cup. "Christo is with us,' he said, before suggesting he could feature in their final Club World Cup group stage game against ES Tunis. HAVE YOUR SAY! What do you make of the potential swap deal? Comment below. ‌ 'He's our player. He's doing very well in the last four, five days. For sure, tomorrow we are going to do rotation. We'll see if there is any chance for the ones that are not playing a lot." Garnacho caused a stir over the weekend by posting a photo of himself wearing an Aston Villa shirt with Marcus Rashford 's name on the back. He appeared to be simply showing support for his friend, who finds himself in a similar situation, looking for a move away from United this summer. Rishabh Pant reprimanded for umpire dissent during England Test

Rishabh Pant has been reprimanded for dissent towards the umpires during India 's first Test against England at Headingley. On the third day of the Test, during the 61st over of England's first innings, on-field umpires Paul Reiffel and Chris Gaffaney checked the shape of the ball with a ball gauge and opted not to change it. Frustrated at this decision, Pant threw the ball on the ground in front of the umpires and this was deemed to be dissent. That breached Article 2.8 of the ICC Code of Conduct, which relates to 'showing dissent at an umpire's decision during an international match' and the Indian wicketkeeper has now been handed an official reprimand , with one demerit point added to his previously unblemished disciplinary record. 'India's Rishabh Pant has been handed an official reprimand for breaching Level 1 of the ICC Code of Conduct during the third day of the first Test against England in Headingley on Sunday,' explained the ICC's official media release. 'Pant admitted the offence and accepted the sanction proposed by Richie Richardson of the Emirates ICC Elite Panel of Match Referees, so there was no need for a formal hearing 'On-field umpires Paul Reiffel and Chris Gaffaney, third umpire Sharfuddoula Ibne Shahid and fourth umpire Mike Burns levelled the charge. Level 1 breaches carry a minimum penalty of an official reprimand, a maximum penalty of 50 per cent of a player's match fee, and one or two demerit points.' Pant has performed brilliantly in the first Test, showing all of his maverick magic to make a century in each of India's innings – 134 in the first and 118 second time round. In typically spectacular fashion, he celebrated the former by doing an acrobatic front flip. That has helped set up a fascinating final day where England require 350 more runs to win, with 10 wickets still in hand. The demerit point Pant has received for his reprimand will stay on his disciplinary record for a period of 24 months, when it will be expunged. If a player reaches four or more demerit points within a 24-month period, they are converted into suspension points and a player is banned. Two suspension points equate to a ban from one Test or two ODIs or two T20Is, whatever comes first for the player.

Kevin De Bruyne held 'talks' with shock Premier League side before joining Napoli on free transfer as Man City legend looks to prove doubters wrong after being refused new deal

Kevin De Bruyne held talks with one of Manchester City 's bitterest Premier League rivals before joining Napoli on a free, a bombshell report has claimed. The Belgian was confirmed as a Napoli star and hailed as 'King Kev' earlier this month as City showed him the door following a decade of impeccable service. De Bruyne, who also considered the prospect of joining Chicago Fire, seemed wistful to be leaving the Etihad but is determined to make a point. The Athletic reports that the 33-year-old opted for Napoli partly so he could prove City wrong for letting him go by showing he can compete at the top level. Napoli recently lifted their second Serie A title in three seasons and Antonio Conte 's side could face City in the Champions League this coming season. However, De Bruyne also had a 'brief conversation' with Liverpool in a revelation that will shock many fans. He was actually a Reds supporter growing up. While in the academy at Genk, he revealed: 'My favourite club is Liverpool and my favourite player is Michael Owen, and I would love to play there one day.' In 2019, he told the Match of the Day magazine: 'I was a Liverpool fan. My family that live in England were all Liverpool supporters so I was, too. 'I loved Michael Owen because I was really small like him and quick, too. I compared myself to him at the time. I liked [Zinedine] Zidane and Ronaldinho too – those really skilful players.' Even considering this, it would have been a jaw-dropping move had De Bruyne actually joined his side's recent rivals. Liverpool and City have shared the last eight Premier League titles (two vs six), and the one to miss out has been runner-up in three of those seasons. The last players to switch between the two clubs were James Milner and Raheem Sterling in 2015-16, with the former joining Liverpool and the latter going to City.
