875th show of Mukhyamantri to be staged on May 17

Kalagangotri, a 54-year-old Kannada amateur theatre group, will stage its popular play Mukhyamantri on May 17 at 7.30 p.m. at Ravindra Kalakshetra. Popular actor and politician Chandru, who plays the role of a chief minister in the play, has since come to be known as 'Mukhyamantri' Chandru.
Directed by B.V. Rajaram, the performance will mark the 875th show of Mukhyamantri. The play follows a determined protagonist who is intent on retaining his position as chief minister, despite efforts by his party president to unseat him.
The Kannada drama is based on a novel of the same name by Chanakya Sen. Originally written in Hindi, it was later translated into Kannada by renowned theatre and film actor T.S. Lohitashwa.
Tickets are priced at ₹150.
