Keith Stackpole, a former Wisden cricketer of the year, dies at age 84
MELBOURNE, Australia — Ex-Australia test vice-captain Keith Stackpole, one of Wisden's cricketers of the year in 1973, has died, Cricket Australia said Wednesday. He was 84.
Stackpole made his international debut in 1966 and played 43 tests, scoring 2,807 runs and taking 15 wickets with his wrist spin, in an era when batters usually didn't wear helmets or much in the way of protective clothing.

Grisly discovery in bushland
A woman's body was been found in bushland in western Sydney on Sunday after a passer-by made the grisly discovery. Police were called to reserve off Irwin Street at Werrington just after 1pm. The woman has yet to be identified, but is believed to be middle aged. Specialist police are on the scene and her cause of death has yet to be determined. 'The area of the reserve in question is quite isolated, it appears the body has been there for a period of time,' Detective Superintendent Trent King said. Police found other items, including clothing, around the body. Asked how long the body had been there, Supt King said: 'Certainly a period of time, it's very difficult to ascertain at this stage… We're hoping in the next couple of days through post-mortem examination and the (forensic examination of the scene), we will have further information about that. Police are working with the Missing Person's unit in an attempt to identify the woman. Witnesses have been urged to contact Nepean detectives or CrimeStoppers on 1800 333 000.

Lightning stops NRL game between Souths and Bulldogs
Lightning has forced South Sydney and Canterbury from the field at Accor Stadium, in the first time weather has stopped an NRL game in more than a decade. Referee Adam Gee ordered South Sydney and Canterbury off around 4:40pm on Sunday afternoon with the Bulldogs leading 18-0 in the 31st minute. Lightning had struck nearby twice before the stoppage, with the second flash prompting audible gasps from the modest crowd. Soon beforehand, security had ordered patrons in lower seating areas to take cover as rain teemed down. It was the first time since Anzac Day in 2015 that a match had been paused due to weather, with hail forcing St George Illawarra and Sydney Roosters off that day. Before that, the last time weather interrupted a game was in 2009. The Bulldogs dominated the early exchanges of round 15's final game, with Toby Sexton scoring the first try as he fights for his spot in the team's halves.

Housby heroics not enough as Vixens shoot to fourth
The Melbourne Vixens have defied a "lethal" Helen Housby to topple the ladder-leading NSW Swifts and move into Super Netball's top four. Sophie Garbin powered the Vixens' 70-68 win while player-of-the-match Jo Weston dominated defensively to inflict a second-straight defeat on the Swifts.
