Taicca and Gobelins Paris Announce Partnership at Annecy to ‘Nurture Original Stories from Taiwan': ‘Dream Bigger and Reach Further'
Taiwan Creative Content Agency (Taicca) has announced a strategic partnership with animation school Gobelins Paris at Annecy's film-TV market MIFA.
As shared with the audience, the new collaboration aims to 'cultivate animation talents from Taiwan, support the development of original IPs for children and young adults, and strengthen Taiwan's connections with the global animation industry.'

The partners will co-organize the Create Your Own IP International Animation Workshop, a training program designed to help emerging Taiwanese creators and professionals develop original children's animation IPs. The workshop will cover storytelling, visual development, character and world design, as well as pitching strategies.
Cecile Blondel, director of international development at Gobelins Paris, noted that 'Taiwanese creators offer fresh, compelling ideas, though turning them into strong visual stories can be challenging.' The workshop will hopefully 'bridge the gap.'
'We're excited to join forces with one of the world's top animation schools to nurture original stories from Taiwan,' added Taicca's Deputy CEO Alice Chang.
'Through this partnership, we hope to empower our creators with the skills, networks, and confidence to dream bigger and reach further.'
On the same day, Taicca also introduced new projects during its Taiwan Spotlight pitching session at Annecy's MIFA market. That included 'Wacky Tidy Pals,' directed by Redic Hsu and produced by Mixcode, introducing four characters embarking on an adventure – and solving mysteries – when a mysterious natural force disrupts the village.
Liao Tai-Yu's 'Puringau' sees a young girl, Akay, trying to protect the forest. Gifted with ancestral witchcraft, but feared by those she vows to help, she finds herself caught between suspicion and belief. The show about 'forgotten God,' produced by MK Origin Studio, is rooted in the myths of Taiwan's indigenous peoples, it was revealed.
'Blue Runners,' adapted from the award-winning novel and directed by Huang Shih-Ming, follows an ex-athlete and a teenager struggling with depression, who gradually breaks out of isolation through long-distance running. Stepmotion Pictures is on board.
In 'Bliss: Beyond the Edge of Time,' the audience is granted an unflinching look into the future, where 'the cold precision of technology collides with the fragile essence of humanity.' As five distinct stories unfold, creators wonder: In a future when memories can be erased, identities rewritten and fate engineered, what remains truly ours?
Finally, Erik Lee's 'Tag' claims – rather controversially – that life only truly begins after death. As a mother and son reunite in the underworld, they confront a path of redemption through existence. And the titular 'tag'? It's a system of 'spiritual substitution' orchestrated by an enigmatic medium. Go Go Studios produce.

Goodnight Chicken shares life updates from behind bars
12 Jun - Chen Neng-chuan, better known by his online moniker Goodnight Chicken, recently shared his current condition via a letter as he celebrated his second birthday in a Cambodian prison. The Taiwanese content creator, who was sentenced to two years in prison back in February last year, recently wrote that he was safe, and went on to detail about his life in prison. Chen said that during this period, he worked hard to "reform himself" and met many inmates from different backgrounds. Whenever he was asked about his past work, Chen would humorously say that he was an internet celebrity who "breaks into uninhabited houses to livestream, take showers, and pick up red envelopes." He said that when someone asked whether being in a Cambodian jail is work too, he responded, "Of course. Others survived in the wilderness for three months, but I went straight to jail for two years." He also mentioned the harsh environment in Cambodian prisons, where the temperature was as high as 35 to 38 degrees Celsius, causing him to have rashes all over his body. As for his birthday, Chen said that it was as uneventful as usual, but one older inmate gave both him and his fellow inmate and content creator friend Anow a piece of bread each, which made him feel a small moment of happiness behind bars. It was back in February 2024 that Chen alleged that he and Anow were kidnapped while they were supposedly filming at Sihanoukville, an area infamous for being a scam centre. After they were caught to have duped thousands of fans, the Cambodian authorities charged them of "incitement to cause chaos to social security" and sentenced them to two years in prison. Singaporean jailed six months in Taiwan for stalking Golden Melody Award winner Olivia Tsao Ya-wen
TAIPEI, June 12 — A Singaporean woman has been sentenced to six months in jail in Taiwan for stalking and harassing Golden Melody Award-winning singer Olivia Tsao Ya-wen, after her obsession with the star escalated into threats and public confrontation. According to The Straits Times, Cassandra Low, a woman in her 30s, was found guilty by the New Taipei District Court of endangering the personal safety of Tsao, and of offences including stalking, harassment and public insult. The court's verdict, published on June 5, followed months of troubling behaviour that forced the singer and her agent to leave their homes. Low, described in court documents as a long-time fan of Tsao, began contacting the singer via personal emails and messages on Facebook and Instagram from November 2023. However, her behaviour took a dark turn after she was blocked on social media by Tsao. According to the judgment, Low reacted by posting threats and abuse directed at the singer, her family, and her agent. In one Facebook post, she wrote: 'I can be very aggressive. The more stubborn she is... don't blame me for whatever I do to her parents.' In another, she said: 'Blocking me, see how I slowly let her agent die.' The online threats eventually drove both Tsao and her agent to leave their residences in New Taipei City out of fear for their safety. The situation intensified in February when Low followed Tsao to Banqiao high-speed rail station after learning the singer was travelling. She grabbed Tsao's luggage and phone in an attempt to pressure her into restoring contact. In a video recorded by Tsao, Low is seen physically blocking her and demanding a reconciliation until police intervened. The court sentenced Low to six months in prison. She may choose to pay a commuted fine of NT$1,000 (S$43) per day of her sentence, but the court noted that her high salary as a Singaporean — reportedly more than twice that of a typical Taiwanese worker — meant a financial penalty alone would not reflect the severity of her actions. Low will be deported once she serves her sentence or pays the full fine. Tsao, 38, responded to the verdict in a June 11 post on social media, saying: 'This is the most comforting piece of news I have received recently,' and thanked her supporters and legal team for their help. Better known by her Chinese name Tsao Ya-wen, the singer performs primarily in Taiwanese Hokkien and won the Best Female Taiwanese Singer award at the Golden Melody Awards in 2021. She has previously spoken about feeling 'helpless and uncomfortable' when fans crossed personal boundaries, though she did not identify individuals at the time.
