'Compact' portable charger gets 30% price slash as it delivers 'all-day power'

Daily Record17-05-2025
If your someone who needs to keep their phone powered on the go, this might be for you
Unless it is a brand new phone, many people can't go a full day without their device quickly losing battery. Even if it is constantly on power saving mode, it won't take long before users see their battery life becoming smaller and smaller.
As a result, power banks have become a saving grace for people who are out of the house all day or going on holiday. However, at times, these small gadgets can become a nuisance as they require excessive cables and some won't squeeze into a handbag.
If this is a common issue for shoppers, Anker may have a solution. The Anker Nano Power Bank usually retails for £29.99, but shoppers can now grab it for £8 less at £21.99 in a cheeky sale. But this special code is said to only last until the end of the week.
Available in five colours - Ice Lake Blue, Black Stone, Shell White, Sprout Green and Lotus Pink - shoppers can choose the compact power bank that matches their phone. On top of this, the charger is so small that shoppers have been able to fit it into their jeans pocket or micro bag on a night out, reports the Mirror.
Boasting two high-speed charging ports, the gadget can deliver an impressive output of 22.5W. However, when comparing the charging capabilities in two phones - iPhone 15 Pro Max and the Samsung Galaxy Z Flip 2 - it was found that the charger used up half of its power to give battery to the latter, whereas only a quarter for the iPhone.
However, the user did say that this may be because the Samsung phone was older so may have needed more juice to get it charged after years of use.
Weighing only 98.5g, you can choose to simply plug this small device into the bottom of your phone with the built-in USB-C port or through an additional USB-C cable. This small gadget is also compatible with a variety of devices, including iPhone 15 Series, Samsung S22 and S23 Series, Samsung Note20, Note20 Ultra, Huawei Mate and more.
Alternatively, Amazon is selling a similar product at a lower price of £16.50. The iWALK 3350mAh Portable Charger currently has over 13,200 global ratings from shoppers, which has resulted in a 4.2 star rating. Weighing 72g, this device won't take up any extra room while on the move.

Product Description
For those who are happy with a more traditional power bank, Argos has reduced the price of the Belkin 10000mAh Portable Power Bank. Now slightly lower at £17.99 (RRP £19.99), this charger is said to provide 40 extra hours of battery life to your phone and it can charge three devices at once.
However, shoppers who are interested in the Anker Nano Power Bank will need to turn to Amazon for reviews as the Anker website currently doesn't have any. With over 9,000 ratings resulting in 4.3 stars, many shoppers have conveyed how essential this portable charger has become to their daily life.
One happy shopper wrote: "Brilliant! Very compact and great for a day bag or pocket if you're walking about. I used to take the 10k bricks around but this is so much lighter and a very fast charge."
Another customer also added: "Great little device, neat and small for handbag or pocket. Holds as good as a complete charge and I like how it has two ways to connect, one standard with lead the second it just plugs into you phone at its charging point so no need for cable."
However, some shoppers did note some issues with the mini device. One shopper said: "I love the compact size of it, and the indicator lights, so you know how much charge is remaining. The flip up design of the USB-C connector is handy and keeps it all flat when not in use.
"Unfortunately, it makes your phone feel very bottom heavy and can sometimes dislodge from the charging port and start and stop charging randomly."
Another reviewer noted: "Loved my anker stuff in the past but not sure about the quality of this and a usb plug i bought from them recently. They both get quite warm when in use (for the powerbank when charging and in use) never had that with my previous powerbanks.
"Also not even enough juice to fully charge my Samsung mobile. But it is light and compact and having the built in usb c saves carrying a cable around."
Tech deal of the week
Looking to bag a pair of wireless headphones, but don't want to pay out for Apple's AirPods?
Then look no further than Amazon, as the online giant has a selection of budget-friendly options that are said to deliver on quality. One such pair are the Donerton Wireless Earbuds.
Priced at just £18.99, these earbuds use 2025 Bluetooth 5.4 to seamlessly connect to any device, while the 13mm speakers deliver "crystal clear" and "vivid" sound quality that is said to be on par with pricier brands.
Using ENC noise cancellation technology and featuring four built-in microphones, they are ideal for taking phone calls when out and about, alongside listening to music, podcasts and audiobooks without interruption.
The ergonomic design is suitable for everyone, with three silicone shaped tips available to provide a secure and long-lasting fit. As they are IP7 waterproof, they are prevented from any damage caused by sweat and raindrops.
Meanwhile, the wireless charging case displays the remaining power of each earbud using dual LED technology and can provide up to 40-hours of playback, with a single fast 1.5-hour charge offering up to eight hours alone.
Averaging a 4.4 rating on Amazon based on over 18,000 reviews, they have been compared to Apple and Samsung by tech fans who have praised them as "far superior" and "brilliant."
One such review read: "These EarPods are brilliant ! The sound is great & everything you would expect from apple but so much cheaper. I've had apple EarPods from apple, these are on par. Highly recommended."
Purchase the Donerton Wireless Earbuds on Amazon for £18.99 here.
Despite this, a third five-star reviewer also wrote: "Excellent charger. Today everything is on our phones, cards, tickets, etc. This is perfect if you are travelling or having long days and you need your phone to be charged.
"If your phone is almost out of battery, I would say this charger brings it back to at least 80%, if not more. Plus once you plug it in, it actually holds by itself, you don't have to hold phone and charger at the same time. Will be buying more from this brand."

Data center owners urge US Treasury to keep renewable energy subsidy rules

Aug 15 (Reuters) - The Data Center Coalition, which represents data center owners including Google, Amazon (AMZN.O), opens new tab and Microsoft (MSFT.O), opens new tab, called on U.S. Treasury Secretary Scott Bessent to uphold existing rules for wind and solar energy subsidies, saying they have enabled the industry to grow quickly and stay ahead of competition from China. Tougher rules on how projects can qualify for federal clean energy tax credits could slow development of new electricity generation at a time of surging power demand driven by artificial intelligence and the digital economy. "Any regulatory friction that slows down deployment of new generation today directly impacts our ability to meet AI-era electricity demands tomorrow," the coalition wrote in its letter to Bessent. The letter is dated August 4 but was seen by Reuters on Friday. President Donald Trump issued an executive order in July directing Treasury to tighten clean energy tax credit rules, including redefining what it means for a project to have started construction. The industry has relied on the existing rules for the last decade, and advisory firm Clean Energy Associates projected this week that the United States could lose about 60 gigawatts of planned solar capacity through 2030 if stricter "beginning of construction" rules are implemented. Between 2017 and 2023, the U.S. data center industry contributed $3.5 trillion to the nation's gross domestic product and directly employed over 600,000 workers, according to the DCC. The Treasury Department is expected to issue updated guidelines as soon as August 18.

Ezviz RS20 Max review – powerful robot vacuum with detachable mops

The Ezviz RS20 Max is an impressive high-end robot vacuum with some very clever features | Ezviz This article contains affiliate links. We may earn a small commission on items purchased through this article, but that does not affect our editorial judgement. The Ezviz RS20 Max sets itself apart with detachable mops, powerful suction, and a built-in camera that doubles as home security. Sign up to our daily newsletter Sign up Thank you for signing up! Learn More Sorry, there seem to be some issues. Please try again later. Submitting... In the impressive world of flagship robot vacuums, innovation has been a bit slow recently. Most premium devices now have a wet mopping function, with spinning mop heads that can be washed at the base. LiDar is a common feature, anti-tangle technology usually shows up in some form and, of course, they empty and fill their own waste containers. It leaves you with a tricky decision to make if you do want to invest in the best robot vacuums in the market, and the huge discounts offered by some brands make it all the more testing. I've spent several weeks testing the Ezviz RS20 Max, and it's priced currently at £499 (if you can catch a deal on Amazon) and that makes it a contender in the battle for the high-spec household robots. It's a big unit. Not only is the robot itself a fair size, but the base station is a monster - it has two water tanks; one for dirty and one for clean, and then a large waste bin. The main reason for its size, though, is its clever mop-washing and drying system. Sure, the likes of Eufy fit a mop-washing station into a smaller base, but the Ezviz RS20 Max has a trick up its sleeve. Unlike pretty much any other robot vacuum on the market, the RS20 Max can shed its two mop heads, and leave them in the base. It has the ability to self-detach its two mop heads whenever it detects carpet | Ezviz This means there's no soggy fabric being dragged behind it. That's never a problem on hard surfaces because they're always lifted away, but it's always been an issue for people with a mix of carpet and hard floors. You'll know what I mean if you've ever seen soggy patches on the edge of a rug. It's such a simple idea, but brilliantly executed by Ezviz, and it's one of two key innovations in the RS20 Max. Another clever feature that's rarely seen is access to the on-board camera. Through the accompanying app, you can send the robot out on its travels and watch where it's going in real time. The use case for this is impressive. It effectively turns your robot into a home security system. Paranoid about an intruder? Just send your little sentry out on duty. Need to keep an eye on a pet or family member? Just monitor them on the app. This would be little more than a mere gimmick if the vacuuming and mopping functions were lacklustre, but thankfully, they're not. It's a sizeable device, but quite low-profile In fact, with 13,000Pa of suction, the RS20 Max is one of the more powerful robot vacuums out there. And its CutFree brush system had no issues with my labradoodle's fur offerings. The mopping function is perhaps less impressive, but I've yet to find a robot mopping system that properly wows me. And the fact that the robot will dash off and drop off its tools at the base station automatically if it detects a carpet is such a clever bit of tech. It's also one of the most impressive mop washing systems I've tested too. Perhaps because they can be detached, they're washed and dried incredibly effectively, and surprisingly quickly. The obstacle avoidance system is very clever, and its LiDar system maps your house very well, but its low profile can cause issues on thick rugs. Mine has got stuck a few times. Battery life is decent, and it's not too noisy, even while it's on the base station having a quick charge up and refresh. It can sometimes get stuck on rugs, but usually it sorts itself out | Ezviz So in just about every measurable way, the Ezviz RS20 Max is as impressive as a £500 robot vacuum needs to be. It does a great job of mopping, it has powerful suction, the app is great, it's easy to set up, and it's easy to live with. The detachable wash pads will only be of use to someone who has a share of carpet and hard floors, or perhaps hard floors and some rugs, and it'll be up to you to decide how useful the camera surveillance system is. If you do happen to be lucky enough to be looking around for a top-spec robot vacuum, you'll know how tricky the decision is. And, I'm sorry to say, Ezviz has just made it a little bit harder.

Shoppers left 'pleasantly surprised' by budget Android phone as it drops to £89

One shopper said that they 'love everything about this phone'. When it comes to smartphones, the two most notable mentions are generally iPhone and Samsung. Both dominating the tech sphere with their differing operating systems, these brands regularly release new flagship devices with latest tech and AI features. However, these popular smartphones also typically come with price tags that cost shoppers hundreds of pounds, if not thousands if you want to buy the 'pro' editions outright. While these brands are widely popular, there are some more budget friendly devices on the market that can still cater to your basic needs, while also possessing new AI programs. One such smartphone that left shoppers 'pleasantly surprised' belongs to the Android family. While it was only released on June 6 of this year, Amazon has cut down the price of the HONOR X6c from £129.99 to a surprisingly affordable £89.99. Featuring Android 15, the Honor X6c is primed with all of the latest software and security updates, while also comes with 128GB of storage so shoppers can save thousands of their favourite memories that have been taken on the 50MP AI ultra-clear camera. Boasting a 6.61-inch 120hz display, this phone features eye comfort technology to make sure users enjoy a comfortable visual experience all day long, no matter if it is day or night. Shoppers have also praised the device for its long battery life which will let you scroll, stream and play for hours on end. Honor X6c Product Description Additionally, for those who enjoy using AI features in their day to day life, all tech lovers need to do is press the AI button to unlock a variety of smart features and instant information. On the flip side, for those worried about damaging the phone, it is equipped with five-star drop resistance as well as a dust and water resistance of IP63. For those looking for a more popular device, Amazon has also slashed £250 off the Google Pixel 9. Normally retailing for £799 for the 128GB model, shoppers can now grab it in either obsidian, peony, porcelain or wintergreen for only £549. Alternatively, for those who would rather an Apple device and are happy with a slightly older model, Argos is selling the iPhone 14 5G for £449. This phone features a 6.1-inch super retina XDR display, a 12MP TrueDepth dual-camera system and is powered by the super-speedy A15 bionic chip. Back to the Honor X6c, it currently boasts a 4.3 star rating from over 1,000 Amazon shoppers. Many reviewers praised the device for its multitasking skills and its long battery life. One satisfied shopper wrote: "Great phone, works extremely well. This is like an iPhone dupe but better, has lots of interesting features and is easy to use." With another five-star reviewer adding: "I didn't need an all dancing mobile but was pleasantly surprised by how much this item offers. "Apart from making/receiving calls, I get my emails and can search the internet anytime. Plus a very good camera. Everything I need and priced so comparatively low." However, some shoppers did grumble about the display, as one person said: "The screen attracts finger print too easy." Tech deal of the week Shoppers looking for a set of budget earbuds are in luck as Amazon has a set that shoppers say work 'as well as Apple Airpods.' The Jxrev Wireless Earbuds usually retail for £24.99, but shoppers can now snap them up for £18.99 in a limited time deal. Providing up to eight hours of playtime from a single charge, these earbuds will let users listen to their favourite tunes, audiobooks and podcasts uninterrupted for hours on end. When used with the charging case, this boosts up to 40 hours. For those worried about losing battery in the middle of the day, the charging case also comes with an LED display so users know exactly how much battery is remaining. On top of this, shoppers will get clear calls as the earbuds come with environmental noise cancellation which will cancel out or suppress background noise to make users sound clearer. Many shoppers have raved over these earbuds, which currently have a 4.3 star rating. One happy shopper said: "These fit brilliantly and once you know what taps to do and when; they are excellent quality, value, usability and size. Great delivery speed too. "They fit my tiny ear canals brilliantly with no discomfort or problem using them. Easy to set up Bluetooth. They were 100 per cent charged which was greatly appreciated." To buy the Jxrev Wireless Earbuds, click HERE. While another shopper agreed: "Love everything about this phone. Its got brilliant battery power. My only complaint is the screen gets very greasy all the time, no matter how much you take care. It is impossible to keep free from streaks which distorts the viewing." Despite this, a top reviewer went on to write: "I brought this phone as a stand in while I sent mine away for repair. Looks, feels good and has many features expected of dearer major rival brands. Linked easily & well with car and Fitbit, my banking app etc. "Nice clear screen and the camera takes crisp images. Multi tasks well, quick and responsive. Good battery life even with many apps loaded and working in the background. "Good sized memory for all those apps we have but don't need. Has its own app store but also have access to Google Play and all there apps. Sturdy build and easy to get a cover for if wanted." Amazon has slashed 31 per cent off the Honor X6c as part of a limited time deal. Join the Daily Record WhatsApp community!
