Massachusetts man sentenced in healthcare fraud case
BOSTON (WWLP) – A healthcare company executive has been sentenced to prison in a health benefit program fraud case.
In a news release from the Department of Justice in Boston, 42-year-old Miguel Saravia of Hanson pleaded guilty to six counts of healthcare fraud in federal court. Saravia is the CEO of Dana Group Associates and also the former COO of Prime Behavioral Health.

Investigators say that from 2017-2022, Saravia had persons with no billing or medical training enter Current Procedural Terminology codes (CPT) for therapy services that were not provided and to upcode CPT codes used for psychotherapy visits. He submitted, or directed the submission of, false claims for treatment that was not provided or for more complex and expensive treatment than was provided.
Last week, Saravia was sentenced to three and a half months in prison, followed by one year of supervised release, and ordered to pay $561,141.89 in restitution.

Mass. man arrested following deadly crash in November
HAMPTON, N.H. (WWLP) – A New Bedford man has been arrested in connection with driving in the wrong direction on I-95 in New Hampshire and causing a deadly crash in Massachusetts. New Hampshire State Police shared in a news release that 40-year-old Keoma Duarte of New Bedford, Mass. was arrested last Wednesday following an ongoing investigation into reckless driving and a deadly crash in November of 2024. Sidewalks to close Monday for repairs in Pittsfield On November 27, New Hampshire state troopers observed a Tesla driving southbound in the northbound lanes of I-95 in Hampton. Troopers coordinated with members of the Massachusetts State Police as the suspect continued driving into Mass. It was later discovered that Duarte was involved in a two-vehicle crash. The crash resulted in the death of 49-year-old Jeremy Cole of Exeter, New Hampshire. Duarte was also injured during the accident and was brought to a Boston hospital to be treated for serious injuries. New Hampshire troopers investigating the incident determined that Duarte had initially been driving northbound on I-95 before pulling into the NH Liquor & Wine Outlet parking lot. The outlet was closed at the time, and Duarte was seen through surveillance leaving the lot and entering the road in the wrong direction. On May 28, Massachusetts State Police notified New Hampshire troopers that Duarte had been arrested due to his outstanding arrest warrant. On Tuesday, Duarte was brought to New Hampshire and held at the Rockingham County Department of Corrections. Duarte was charged with two felony counts of reckless conduct and one misdemeanor count of disobeying an officer. He was arraigned in Hampton District Court on Wednesday. North Adams man sentenced to prison for assaulting child
PITTSFIELD, Mass. (WWLP) – A North Adams man pleaded guilty to five charges involving assaulting a child in Berkshire Superior Court on Thursday. Springfield man sentenced to life for 2021 Chicopee murder Berkshire District Attorney's Office Chief of Operations Julia Sabourin shared in a news release that in 2022, 37-year-old Jesriel Morales of North Adams allegedly assaulted a six-year-old child. Morales reportedly slammed the child into a window and wall, hit them with a belt, slapped them, and forced them to kneel on dried rice. On Thursday, Morales pleaded guilty to three counts of Aggravated Assault and Battery with a Dangerous Weapon on a Child and two counts of Assault and Battery. He was sentenced to two and a half years in the Berkshire House of Corrections, followed by two years of probation. Morales was also ordered by the judge to have no contact with the victim and to participate in the Fatherhood program. 'I am pleased with the guilty plea,' said Berkshire District Attorney Timothy Shugrue. 'Jesriel Morales preyed on the most innocent member of society. Today, my thoughts are with the very young victim. I hope this conclusion provides them some peace and feeling of safety and security.' Trump Admin Surrenders to Judges and Returns Abrego Garcia
The Maryland father mistakenly deported to El Salvador by the Trump administration is back in the United States. Attorney General Pam Bondi confirmed Kilmar Abrego Garcia had landed on Friday, and he will now face criminal charges for allegedly transporting illegal immigrants. 'He was a smuggler of humans, and women, and children,' she said. Abrego Garcia's return appears to be yet another about-face by Donald Trump after the White House insisted he would not be allowed back into the country. The stunning move is being seen as a way out for the administration after being hauled over the coals by judges for ignoring court orders. The indictment, filed in Nashville, Tennessee, accuses the 29-year-old of a conspiracy to move undocumented immigrants from Texas to other parts of the country. Abrego Garcia, who lived with his wife and children in Maryland, has been accused of being involved in smuggling thousands of foreign citizens from Mexico and Central America. Some were said to be children. The married father was deported to El Salvador's top security CECOT prison in March as part of the Trump administration's crackdown on undocumented immigrants. Democratic Party lawmakers have blasted the deportation after a Department of Justice official admitted Abrego Garcia was removed from the country by mistake. Donald Trump and White House advisers, including Deputy Chief of Staff Stephen Miller and Press Secretary Karoline Leavitt, insisted that the Maryland resident was a member of the violent MS-13 crime gang. His family and lawyers have denied that's the case. Miller claimed that if Abrego Garcia ever returned to America, he would be arrested and kicked out of the country a second time. The federal filing was reportedly entered under seal in Tennessee last month. In a statement to ABC News, Abrego Garcia's attorney, Simon Sandoval-Moshenberg, said they are determined to get a fair trial. 'From the beginning, this case has made one thing painfully clear: The government had the power to bring him back at any time. Instead, they chose to play games with the court and with a man's life,' he said. 'We're not just fighting for Kilmar, we're fighting to ensure due process rights are protected for everyone. Because tomorrow, this could be any one of us, if we let power go unchecked, if we ignore our Constitution.' NBC News reported that a federal grand jury has indicted Abrego Garcia on two counts, conspiracy to unlawfully transport illegal aliens for financial gains and the unlawful transportation of illegal aliens for financial gains. U.S. Attorney General Pam Bondi said if convicted, Abrego Garcia will be sentenced to a U.S. prison. He will serve that sentence and then be removed from the U.S. The administration acknowledged in court papers that a mistake had been made and that a 2019 court order shielding Abrego Garcia from deportation had been violated. He feared persecution from gangs if he returned to El Salvador. But the White House insisted the father's gang affiliations should bar him from the U.S. in spite of the error. Abrego Garcia has been in the country since illegally entering at the age of 13 and has been living in Maryland for 13 years. He has one child with his wife, Vasquez Sura, a U.S. citizen.
