Eskildsen certainly hit her stride this season with an offering that refined ideas she's been working on so they exude an air of confident maturity. The casting was meant to suggest a mother/daughter scenario, but it's the former, a woman with a magnet sense of self-possession, who stole the show. There's an interesting back story to this scenario: the designer's daughter, a student of social science and math, just completed a graduate thesis that measured the percentage of women in leadership positions. 'I was like, 'it's changed, it's not that bad anymore,'' said Eskilden. 'We were just so surprised that actually the numbers aren't great yet.'
Taking matters into her own hands, the designer crafted clothes that play with different ideas of power and comfort. Bold shoulders on a crackled lamb leather jacket suggested strength. Items borrowed from corporate closets were feminized; pinstripes were cut into roomy pants and a powder gray three-piece suit became a four-piece with the addition of a short apron overskirt. Under the jacket, the vest hides its secret—a slit open, lingerie style back. Another wink-wink moment was built into a camel coat with belt loops and a pants pocket effect on the reverse.
The power of seduction was at work when a slip top was layered over a lightweight turtleneck and paired with fil coupe pants. It was also evident in airy blouses that seemed to drift over the skin, and an ivory cable knit sweater with a cut open back with bow ties. A faux fur coat cut in a bathrobe shape communicated a feeling of comfort and interiority of the sort you might experience when sitting alone with your work at your home desk, which sounds like something Virginia Woolf would very much approve of.

The unrelenting anxiety of doing something that could be perceived as 'cringe' leads some Gen Z adults to a chronic state of functional freeze. Sincere effort and ambition have become socially risky behaviors. In Gen Z's calculus, the cost of potential censure is too high. The Psychological Impact This hyper-consciousness breeds extreme social rejection sensitivity and a preference for 'play it safe' and 'stay in your lane' behaviors. The fear of humiliation is matched by the fear of being seen as a 'try hard.' Ironic detachment has become a default setting for Gen Z workers focused on self-preservation. 'If you don't know I tried, I can't be judged if I ultimately fail.' Educators and developmental experts know that fear of failure can inhibit learning and growth in the classroom. The developmental cost of 'cringe culture' in the workplace is stalled careers and stunted professional growth. Workplaces reward visibility, risk-taking, and speaking up. But Gen Z has been conditioned to avoid the appearance of effort and potential failure in front of others. Professors have noted that Gen Z is reluctant to raise their hand to speak in class. This fear of being wrong, being ridiculed, or being labeled as 'cringe' follows young adults into their professional spheres, too. How Cringe Culture Manifests at Work Leaders may observe Gen Z employees and interpret reticence as disengagement, hesitation as lack of initiative, or emotional detachment as immaturity. You're not delulu, the English language just got a little more skibidi after the Cambridge Dictionary added thousands of words over the last 12 months. These include words popularized by social media, celebrities, Gen Z and Gen Alpha. Among the 6,212 new words added are delulu, lewk, skibidi and tradwife — and Gen Alpha, meaning those born between 2010 and 2024. 'Internet culture is changing the English language and the effect is fascinating to observe and capture in the Dictionary,' Colin McIntosh, a program manager at Cambridge Dictionary, said in a statement this week. "We only add words where we think they'll have staying power.' If you're still confused, you're not alone. Here's what some of the newly added words and terms mean, according to Cambridge Dictionary. Broligarchy: It combines the words 'bro' and 'oligarchy' and is defined as "a small group of men, especially men owning or involved in a technology business, who are extremely rich and powerful, and who have or want political influence." The term has been used to describe America's tech leaders, like Jeff Bezos, Elon Musk and Mark Zuckerberg. Delulu: It's a play on the word 'delusional' and means "believing things that are not real or true, usually because you choose to." Inspo: The word popularized on social media is short for 'inspiration.' It's defined as 'something, especially something posted on the internet, that gives you ideas for doing something or that makes you want to do something.' Lewk: It's a playful twist on the word 'look,' and means 'a particular style, fashion, or outfit, especially one that is unusual and impressive.' It's often used on social media or in fashion journalism and was made popular by the reality TV show RuPaul's Drag Race. Mouse jiggler: A rise in remote work culture prompted this phrase, which means 'a device or piece of software used to make it seem as though you are working when you are not.' Skibidi: The slang term has different meanings, like 'cool' or 'bad,' or it can be used with no real meaning at all. The word was coined by the creator of an animated YouTube series called 'Skibidi Toilet,' and the phrase became popular on social media. Tradwife: It's a shortened word for 'traditional wife' and is defined as 'a married woman, especially one who posts on social media, who stays at home doing cooking, cleaning, etc. and has children that she takes care of.'
