🚨 BREAKING: Five-star Barcelona down Como in Joan Gamper Trophy win
Blaugrana got off to an expected start when Fermín López became the chief benefactor of the high press, winning possession in Como's defensive third before slotting a pinpoint effort into the bottom corner past Jean Butez 21 minutes into the action.
López would pop up again to find his second goal of the evening in the 35th minute with a long-range effort from outside of the box before Raphinha made it three-nil soon after, thanks to a lovely darting run into the box by Marcus Rashford before he squared across goal for the Brazilian to tap home.
And it would not be a Barça result without a goal from Lamine Yamal either, with the Spanish wonderkid jumping in to make it 4-0 from close range after Raphinha turned provider.
Ferran Torres would come on to replace Rashford at the half, and it didn't take the forward long to link up with Yamal for the youngster to complete a brace of his own just four minutes after the restart.
Cesc Fàbregas' side had chances of their own, but few could hold the result against the Italian minnows, with Barça looking primed for the new campaign.
From then on, Barça coasted to secure an emphatic result ahead of their La Liga curtain raiser on the road at Mallorca, with Como also in action next weekend when they meet Serie B outfit Südtirol in Coppa Italia.

Liverpool See PSG, Tottenham-Linked Attacker as Alexander Isak Alternative
Rodrygo's future at Real Madrid is starting to come under scrutiny after a rollercoaster showing at the Club World Cup, fueling speculation about a potential move to PSG. Transfer expert Fabrizio Romano has shared his thoughts as the summer window heats up. PSG's interest in Rodrygo isn't entirely clear. Josué Cassé from Foot Mercato says the Brazilian forward isn't currently on PSG's radar, which conflicts with Sky Sports Germany's Florian Plettenberg, who also ruled out Tottenham Hotspur as a possible destination. Still, Plettenberg mentioned that Liverpool and PSG are closely watching Rodrygo's situation. PSG is reportedly serious about signing a top young winger, but any deal will likely depend on how the transfer window unfolds in the coming weeks. Will Real Madrid star leave amid PSG links? On Monday, CaughtOffside reported, citing sources, that Liverpool are closely tracking his situation and view him as a prime alternative should their pursuit of Newcastle United striker Alexander Isak fail. Arsenal reportedly eye the winger as a strong fallback option if their attempts to sign Crystal Palace's Eberechi Eze don't materialize. However, any move from the Gunners would likely require them to sell one of their left-wingers this summer. Moreover, Tottenham have entered the race, reportedly identifying Rodrygo as a potential successor to Son Heung-min, who has left the club for MLS. Spurs have already made contact with the player's representatives to gauge his interest. Then there's Manchester City, whose long-standing admiration for Rodrygo reportedly remains intact, with Pep Guardiola keen to revisit a deal the club once tried to secure before his move to Madrid. The idea of a swap involving Rodri has been floated, but City appears hesitant to pursue that option seriously. The CaughtOffside report concludes that Real Madrid are reportedly open to selling Rodrygo if the right offer comes in, with the club valuing him between €90 million and €100 million. The report says the club would likely accept any bid near the higher end.

Barcelona president Joan Laporta makes bullish Ballon d'Or claim
In the next three months, it will be known who has won the 2025 Ballon d'Or – and multiple Barcelona players are in contention. Lamina Yamal, Pedri, Raphinha and Robert Lewandowski have been nominated from Hansi Flick's side, although they will have stiff competition – most notably from a former teammate in Ousmane Dembele. Barcelona won a domestic treble last season, as they took home La Liga, the Copa del Rey and Spanish Super Cup in Flick's debut campaign. However, Paris Saint-Germain's Champions League success means that their players have an advantage in the race to claim the top individual award in men's football. Despite this, Barcelona president Joan Laporta has made it clear that one of his players should only be the winner of the 2025 Ballon d'Or award – and he picked out Lamine Yamal as his favourite. 'The Ballon d'Or has to go to a Barcelona player. Lamine is a great player and he shows it in every game. And what a Ballon d'Or winner does is show it in training. Hopefully Barça will win everything at the gala.' Image via Getty Images How do Barcelona's nominees stack up in Ballon d'Or race? Lamine Yamal is widely considered to be a leading candidate to win his first Ballon d'Or at the tender age of 18, with him and Dembele expected to finish as the top two. Raphinha and Pedri would not be far behind, given their impressive exploits throughout the 2024-25 season. Meanwhile, Lewandowski is likely to be further down the pecking order, despite scoring 42 times in 52 appearances for Barcelona. The Ballon d'Or race is shaping up to be very close, with other PSG stars in Vitinha and Achraf Hakimi also in contention – as is Liverpool's Mohamed Salah. Barcelona have a chance at their first award since Lionel Messi in 2021, but it will not be as straightforward as Laporta hopes.

'It will happen' - Iraola on Zabarnyi to PSG
Bournemouth manager Andoni Iraola spoke to BBC Radio Solent after the club's final pre-season match against Real Sociedad. On Illya Zabarnyi: "You know me, I hate this month. Things are happening. Zaba [Illya Zabarnyi] has not played in our last two games but it is not official so we have to wait. I think it will happen but we have to wait until everything is signed and official". On an attempt to sign Bafode Diakite: "We are trying to sign centre-backs after we lost Dean [Huijsen] and Zabarnyi. I can't talk about players that are not ours. We need two new centre-backs. It will be impossible to replace the ones that have left but the best centre-backs we can find, the club is working on it". On the future of Dango Ouattara: "He is our player, I don't want to lose him, but I haven't wanted to lose any of the players this summer. While the window is open there will be speculation. I don't know what will happen but I hate these things because you have players and you don't know who could be available. We have lost important players but this is something we cannot change. When the market ends, I hope we will be in the best situation [possible]." Listen to full interview on BBC Sounds here.
