A passenger plane carrying nearly 50 people crashed in a remote area of Russia's far eastern Amur region on Thursday, killing all on board, authorities said.
The plane, a Soviet-made twin-propeller Antonov-24, went down in remote, thickly forested terrain, leaving a column of smoke pouring from the crash site and no signs of survivors, according to state media and videos published by investigators.

Trump shortens Russia ceasefire deadline, cites disappointment in Putin

US President Donald Trump announced Monday that he plans to shorten the deadline given to Russia to agree to a ceasefire in Ukraine, from fifty days down to just ten to twelve days, citing frustration over ongoing Russian attacks on Ukrainian cities. Speaking to reporters during a meeting with UK Prime Minister Keir Starmer in Scotland, Trump said, 'I was generous in giving him 50 days on July 14 before imposing secondary sanctions on Moscow, but we're not seeing meaningful progress, and I'm deeply disappointed in President Putin. So I'm cutting the fifty-day period I gave him to a new window of about 10 or 12 days starting today.' When asked about the status of ceasefire talks between Russia and Ukraine, Trump said: 'We thought we had it settled many times, and then President Putin comes out and starts launching missiles on a city, like Kyiv, killing many people in nursing homes or wherever, with bodies scattered across the streets. This is not the right way.' Trump added, 'We'll see what happens. I'm very disappointed in President Putin. I'm reducing the 50-day deadline I gave him, but frankly, I think I already know what the outcome will be.'

UN watchdog to visit Iran as Tehran enforces new inspection restrictions

Iran will host a visit from the United Nations' nuclear watchdog within the next two weeks, Foreign Ministry spokesperson Esmaeil Baghaei announced Monday. The announcement follows remarks by IAEA Director General Rafael Grossi, who recently said Tehran is ready to resume technical discussions with the agency. Baghaei stated that Iran will present a new framework for cooperation with the International Atomic Energy Agency, based on a recently enacted law passed by parliament. Under the law, any future inspections of Iran's nuclear sites by the IAEA must be approved by the country's Supreme National Security Council. The move comes amid heightened tensions following last month's "Israeli" and US airstrikes aimed at crippling Iran's nuclear program. The IAEA has repeatedly insisted it must be allowed to resume inspections, expressing concern over Iran's stockpile of roughly 400 kilograms of highly enriched uranium. Iran maintains its nuclear program is entirely peaceful and continues to deny any ambition to develop nuclear weapons. Baghaei emphasized that Iran, as a signatory of the Nuclear Non-Proliferation Treaty, has the right to enrich uranium. He also reiterated Iran's position that it may resume indirect talks with the United States if it serves the country's national interest. However, he confirmed that no new round of negotiations is currently planned. Five rounds of indirect talks hosted by Oman were suspended following the recent 12-day conflict between Iran and "Israel". Tensions with the IAEA intensified after Grossi stated there was no evidence of a systematic Iranian effort to build a nuclear weapon. Iran has since accused the agency of being slow to respond and politically biased, claiming it provided justification for "Israeli" attacks. 'The agency betrayed the non-proliferation system and became a partner in the unjust war against Iran,' Baghaei said, referring to recent IAEA reports that Tehran claims were used as a pretext for military aggression.

Trump says Gaza ceasefire is 'possible'

Ammon News - US President Donald Trump said on Monday that a ceasefire between Israel and Hamas in Gaza was "possible." Trump stated he had talked to Israeli officials and told them they may need to do things a different way. He made the comments to reporters at his Turnberry golf resort in Scotland where he was meeting UK Prime Minister Keir Starmer. Trump also expressed his frustration with Russian President Vladimir Putin. "I'm disappointed in President Putin," he said. He added that he would be reducing a 50-day deadline he gave Russia over its war with Ukraine. On July 14, Trump said he would impose tariffs and sanctions on Russia if Moscow would not make a ceasefire agreement within 50 days. "I'm going to reduce that 50 days that I gave him to a lesser number," he said. He did not give a new deadline.
