Inter Milan Captain Once Again Looking At His Best In FIFA Club World Cup Win Vs River Plate
Inter Milan Captain Once Again Looking At His Best In FIFA Club World Cup Win Vs River Plate Inter Milan captain Lautaro Martinez was once again at his best in the Nerazzurri's 2-0 Club World Cup win over River Plate. Today's print edition of Turin-based newspaper Tuttosport, via FCInterNews, argue that the Argentine was a shining light for the Nerazzurri even without a goal. Advertisement Lautaro Martinez did not manage to keep his scoring run at the Club World Cup alive against River Plate. The 27-year-old had found the back of the net in Inter's group stage matches against Monterrey and Urawa Red Diamonds. Therefore, the Argentine will have been hoping he could complete the hattrick of group stage outings with a goal. Particularly against giants of football from his home country like River Plate. Lautaro Martinez At His Best Even Without The Goal Vs River Plate SEATTLE, WASHINGTON – JUNE 21: Lautaro Martinez #10 of FC Internazionale Milano celebrates after scoring his team's first goal during the FIFA Club World Cup 2025 group E match between FC Internazionale Milano and Urawa Red Diamonds at Lumen Field on June 21, 2025 in Seattle, Washington. (Photo by) Lautaro Martinez did not manage to score against River Plate. However, it was not for any lack of trying. The 27-year-old had a number of good chances. Advertisement However, a bit of lucklustre finishing and the efforts of veteran River goalkeeper Franco Armani were enough to keep Martinez at bay. Not that that was a big problem for Inter, however. Francesco Pio Esposito and Alessandro Bastoni scored the decisive goals to deliver the victory to Inter. And Martinez provided everything else the Nerazzurri needed in attack. The Inter captain was clearly up for the physical duel with River Plate centre-backs Lucas Martinez Quarta and Paulo Diaz. Meanwhile, Martinez used his quick feet to create several dangerous situations around the River penalty area. And as is so often the case, the 27-year-old regularly found pockets of space. He showed for the ball and stitched together Inter's attacking play.

Juventus only interested in Jadon Sancho if they fail with first-choice target Francisco Conceição
Ruben Amorim's revolution at Manchester United this summer is going to rely largely on outgoings with the Portuguese head coach desperate to change the culture in and around Old Trafford. Additionally, any sales will help fund the transfer kitty which is under the watchful eye of the Premier League Profit and Sustainability guidelines. Advertisement United have made it clear which players are up for sale in the market but finding suitors for the heavily paid and underperforming crop is proving difficult. Jadon Sancho is one of those United are keen to offload in the coming months after a disastrous spell in Manchester. However, the Englishman's salary demands are such that United will need to strike a cut price deal to get him out of the doors. Interest has been registered by clubs on the continent with Turkish club Fenerbahçe now the front runners to end Sancho's United nightmare. As reported by Italian media, Juventus are also one of those clubs monitoring Sancho's situation but he is not seen as a priority target by the Serie A giants. Advertisement Porto winger Francisco Conceição the number one choice to bolster Igor Tudor's attacking options going into the new campaign. Juve are hoping to get a reduced price on Conceição's €30 million release clause with a view to getting a deal over the line after the Club World Cup. However, Porto are expected to stand firm in their stance of demanding the full amount which will leave the Italians with a decision to make. Sancho is reported as an option for the Old Lady but only if they fail in their attempts to sign Conceição. This should serve as another blow to the inflated ego of Sancho after Chelsea stumped up £5 million to send him back to United despite having a obligation to purchase the winger permanently. However, it seems Sancho is willing to dig his heels in with regards to his salary and won't budge far enough away from the eye watering wage he is earning at United. Advertisement Amorim has instructed INEOS to move the 24-year-old on and the hierarchy at United are also keen to secure a permanent deal for a player who is taking up a sizable chunk of the wage bill. Should the likely parting of ways materialize, Sancho will surely go down as one of the worst signings in United's history and rather sums up the woeful performance in the transfer market by the club over the last decade. Erling Haaland reaches 300 goals faster than Lionel Messi and Cristiano Ronaldo
Erling Haaland scored the 300th goal of his career at the FIFA Club World Cup on Thursday, reaching the mark faster than many of his legendary contemporaries. Haaland achieved the milestone in the 52nd minute of Manchester City's 5-2 thumping over Juventus at Camping World Stadium in Orlando, Florida, with his team's third goal of the match. It wasn't the most convincing of finishes from the Norwegian, bundling the ball home from close range after a cross from Matheus Nunes left him with an open goal. The ball came off his left leg before ricocheting off his trailing right leg and into an empty net. It nevertheless brought up Haaland's 33rd goal of the season for City. Per ESPN, the 24-year-old reached 300 goals in 370 games, faster than Kylian Mbappé (409 games), Lionel Messi (418 games) and Cristiano Ronaldo (554 games) in their illustrious careers. 'All I can say is congratulations, scoring 300 goals at 24 years old, this is quite good, right?' City manager Pep Guardiola said after the game. 'I'm so happy for Erling, for his goal again and being involved in the short spaces. It was really good.' Jeremy Doku, Phil Foden, Savinho and an own goal from Juve defender Pierre Kalulu helped City to the 5-2 victory on Thursday. The game was also a momentous occasion for midfielder Rodri, who made his first start after suffering a torn ACL last September and missing most of the season. The 2024 Ballon d'Or winner played 65 minutes before being substituted. 'He's the best player in the world,' Guardiola said, per the Guardian. 'He was missed, that was clear. I'm happy hopefully he can help us a lot.' The emphatic victory over Juventus means City topped its Club World Cup group with three wins from three games and will face Al-Hilal of Saudi Arabia in the last 16 on Tuesday in Orlando.
