Radio presenter James Whale has delivered an emotional on-air message to his wife and listeners following his terminal cancer diagnosis.
The 74-year-old, who has been living with stage four kidney cancer for the past five years, announced in May that he had stopped his treatment and was 'at the end of his cancer journey'.
Speaking on TalkTV on Saturday (14 June), the broadcaster said: 'I'm going to miss my wife like absolute mad, and my listeners who have been with me over the past lifetime.'
"If you've got to be terminally ill and check out, I'm quite glad it's now,' he added.
Whale, who has been a fixture of British radio and TV for five decades, said earlier this month that he'll be 'exceptionally lucky' if he 'makes it to Christmas'.

The royals and other members of the garter - which is the oldest chivalric order in the UK dating back 700 years and based on the Knights of the Round Table - walk from Windsor Castle to the ceremony. Afterwards, they will catch carriages back up the hill for private meetings. Hundreds of revellers are camping up in the castle grounds for the event. Other members of the Order include the likes of Tony Blair, King Juan Carlos I of Spain, and former MI5 chief Baroness Manningham-Butler.

TYSON FURY was still wearing his Primark suit a day after Soccer Aid - as the boxing legend headed off to a business meeting. The former heavyweight world champion shared England managerial duties with Wayne Rooney against the star-studded World XI. 3 Irish retailer Primark have been partnered with Soccer Aid since 2021 and this year designed stylish grey suits for England and beige for World XI. And Fury, 36, loved the outfit so much he was still wearing it a day later posting on Instagram: "Off to a business meeting now. "I've got my England managerial suit on, get up! Might get the job, who knows?" Fury had fans in stitches when he accidentally swore twice live on ITV when geeing up his England squad. He roared: "Seventy-five thousand sell-out. Unicef a great cause. Let's not forget these Three Lions on the floor. "Let them know how good we are. We are England. We are f***ing Spartans." Alex Scott said: "We apologise for the swearing." Fury then swore AGAIN in the middle of the first half - prompting another apology from ITV - with Scott promising to "have a word with him afterwards". Fury watched on as England blew a 3-0 lead to lose 5-4 - with former Manchester United star-turned-City legend Carlos Tevez scoring FOUR. But the boxing great - who retired in January - said on his morning run: "We didn't get the result they wanted but everybody played well and played hard.
