Anderson confident wins will come for Lancashire
It has been a terrible start to the Championship for Lancashire this season in Division Two following relegation, with the Red Rose picking up no wins from eight games as they sit sixth.Captain Keaton Jennings resigned last month before head coach Dale Benkenstein was sacked a fortnight later.Steven Croft is the interim head coach while Australia batter Marcus Harris has been appointed as the red-ball skipper.But with Harris back home on paternity leave, Anderson has taken over for the games with Kent and Derbyshire.The tally of 639-9 dec was Lancashire's highest for 10 years with three players scoring centuries - Luke Wells, Josh Bohannon and Ashton Turner - and they had Kent on the ropes at 116-7 for their second innings only for a stand of 182 between Joey Evison and Grant Stewart to effectively save the game."The way we applied ourselves this week felt different to the rest of the season," said Anderson."We had a lot of positive energy in the field and then the way we applied ourselves with the bat - we dug in when needed and when the opportunity was there to put the pressure on the opposition, we did that."
'More pressure when decisions are yours'
The game in Blackpool was Anderson's first go at leading a side despite his vast experience of 188 Tests and more than 20 years of first-class cricket.And he admits that certain things took him by surprise."Day one, the concentration levels weren't quite there when I was bowling," he said."I was thinking about other stuff rather than where I was bowling the ball, so it took a little while to get used to that."For me, it was something very different. Even when I've played and not been captain, I've always thought about the game and tried to help captains out on the field."But obviously when the decisions are yours, you feel under that little bit more pressure."But I got used to it as the game went on and thoroughly enjoyed it."

Broadhead is Wrexham's ninth signing since they were promoted from League One last season – their third successive automatic Dragons have broken their transfer record on numerous occasions since Hollywood stars Ryan Reynolds and Rob McElhenney took control of the club in acknowledged the backing of the club's owners in preparing a squad to compete in the Championship this season."I think it's key - there's a lot of spending power in the division," Parkinson said."I think from day one we've moved so quickly and we've always had to work hard as a club to fast track the quality level for the first team as we've always played catch-up."But we've come to this division very quickly and it's important that we bought in Championship standard players to help us on this journey and also assist the existing players who've done so well over the last few years."

Pep Guardiola would like to keep Tottenham target Savinho for ‘many years'
Pep Guardiola insisted he wants to keep Savinho at Manchester City for 'many years' to come amid speculation linking the Brazil forward with Tottenham, but reiterated he would not stop players who wanted to leave exiting the club. The PA news agency understand Spurs opened talks with City over a deal for Savinho earlier this week as they seek a replacement for the departed Son Heung-min and the injured James Maddison. Savinho made 48 appearances for City in his debut campaign after joining last summer, scoring three goals and adding 13 assists from a wide position, and although he has been criticised for a lack of end product Guardiola sounded keen to keep the 21-year-old. 'I don't know,' Guardiola said when asked if Savinho would stay. 'Tottenham in that case or any other club who wants a player should call the club. 'I am only concerned right now that Savinho will be with us for the rest of the season and hopefully many, many years because at 21 years old, with the potential he has, he plays a lot of minutes. He has to improve in the final decisions but he is an extraordinary player. 'Otherwise he would not have played more than 3,000 minutes last season. 'But in the end the desire of the players is above everything. Then they have to find an agreement with the club. If they don't make an agreement, the player will be here because the club spent money on that player.' Guardiola said neither Savinho nor Ederson, the Brazil goalkeeper strongly linked with a move to Turkey, had told him they want to leave City. 'If they want to leave, they will come to me,' he said. 'If they want to leave, they will knock on my door.'Guardiola said Savinho will miss Saturday's Premier League opener away to Wolves with an injury sustained in last week's pre-season friendly away to Palermo, with the problem expected to keep him out for a 'few weeks'. 'I wish him all the best at a traditional club like Everton and hopefully he can play, play, and play,' he said. Mikel Arteta has insisted Arsenal will strike gold if they 'keep digging' as they start their push to win a first Premier League title since 2004 with a trip to Manchester United on Sunday. In May, Arsenal became the first club to finish as runners-up in three successive Premier League campaigns but have spent almost £200m on players this summer. Viktor Gyökeres is expected to lead the line against United and the midfielder Martín Zubimendi is also likely to make his debut. Arteta's side face a tricky run, with a trip to the champions Liverpool in their third match, before they face Manchester City at home on 21 September. But the Arsenal manager insisted they could draw on their previous experience to get over the line. 'You keep digging, digging, digging and you have to be digging because one day the gold is going to be there,' he said. 'That's all the time. When I've been taught, when I've been educated, that's it. For three seasons we've had more points than any other team in this league, which is incredible. That's how you have all the consistency. Now we have to do it in a season to have one more point or the same amount of points and more goals different than any other team. That's the objective.' City have actually accumulated four more points than Arsenal's 247 over the past three seasons. Those clubs have spent similar gross amounts this summer but Liverpool have outstripped them and could add to their squad. Arteta confirmed Arsenal were also looking to bring in more players amid interest in Crystal Palace's Eberechi Eze but believes they are capable of competing regardless. 'I think we have great versatility, very different qualities in relation to the opposition as well,' he said. 'We can manipulate that and have some great cohesion within those units so we are very happy with that.' The form of Martin Ødegaard will be crucial after he endured a testing season that yielded only three goals and eight assists in the league. Arteta said that despite suggestions from Tony Adams – who led Arsenal to the Double in 2002 – that Declan Rice should take over the captaincy, the Norwegian was the almost unanimous choice of a vote conducted this week by his staff and the rest of the players. 'My opinion is clear and it's not just my opinion, it's all the staff and especially the players,' he said. 'I asked them to vote for the captain and I got the result yesterday and by a mile away, by a big, big 100 miles, everybody chose the same person, which is Martin Ødegaard. Which is the most clear sign that you can have. It's how they feel about who has to be their captain to defend, improve and win the matches that we want to win. So I think there's no question about that.'
