Katie Boulter says online abuse shows dark side of sports betting
Tennis star Katie Boulter has revealed that she and her family have received death threats and other abusive messages online.
Boulter shared examples of some of the toxic messages, included a message saying 'hope you get cancer' and another telling her to buy 'candles and a coffin for your entire family'.
She believes much of the abuse comes from sports gamblers who have lost money and is concerned about the potential impact on younger players.
The message Boulter received relating to her family came during her French Open first-round victory over Carole Monnet on 29 May.
Boulter worries that the frequency and severity of the abuse is increasing, saying that 'I don't think there's anything off the cards now'.

Cole Palmer urged to take initiative ‘from first minute' by Chelsea's Enzo Maresca
Chelsea manager Enzo Maresca has challenged Cole Palmer to take the initiative in more games after their winning start at the Club World Cup. Palmer appeared critical of the side's approach in their victory in the UEFA Conference League final last month, saying he got 'sick of getting the ball and going backwards and sideways'. It was at that point he took control of the game against Real Betis in Wroclaw, creating two goals as the Blues came from behind to win 4-1. Palmer was again influential as Chelsea began their challenge at FIFA's global summer tournament with a 2-0 win over LAFC in Atlanta on Monday. 'I had a short conversation with Cole and I said to him that I really like the way he was today,' Maresca told reporters. 'He took responsibility, showed initiative on the ball. 'He was trying to receive the ball, go one-v-one against players, and this is the Cole we expect. 'After the Conference League final, he said he was bored when receiving the ball, so he decided to do something different. 'The day after that interview, I said to him that he could do it from the first minute and why did he wait so long? Why not do the same after one minute? 'Today he was exactly doing that, and we are happy when he does that. I've said many times Cole is our best player, a top player, and hopefully he can continue to do the right things.' Goals from Pedro Neto and Enzo Fernandez got Maresca's side off to a victorious start in Group D in front of a sparse crowd of 22,137 at the 71,000-capacity Mercedes-Benz Stadium. Their next outing is against Brazilian side Flamengo in Philadelphia on Friday.

Jack Draper vs Jenson Brooksby: Score and latest Queen's updates
Latest updates Uche Amako (live updates) 17 June 2025 2:05pm 2:05PM Draper 2-3 Brooksby* A few too many errors from Draper. He's just pushing it at the moment when a little more patience is required. Brooksby comes through another service game untroubled. 2:03PM Draper* 2-2 Brooksby After two months grinding on the clay and needing to hit extra balls to finish points, Draper will be pleased to be on the grass again and see his shots fly away from opponents. His power is one of the big reasons why he is a major contender for Wimbledon and he holds here to 15 comfortably. 1:57PM Draper 1-2 Brooksby* The reason for Brooksby's strange looking serve is the multitude of injuries he has had on his wrist and shoulder over the years. So fair play for finding something that works for him. Draper is yet to get to grips with it and Brooksby holds to love to take the lead. 1:55PM Draper* 1-1 Brooksby Draper's forehand is fine fettle so far. He drills a forehand down the line that's too hot for the advancing Brooksby, 15-15. Andy Murray Arena is not completely full. Plenty of empty seats at this stage of the match. First double fault for Draper takes the game to deuce. But he holds with another powerful forehand down the line. 1:50PM First set: Jack Draper 0-1 Jenson Brooksby* (*denotes server) The American has the honour of serving first and we get a glimpse of his very unique service motion. He starts with the racket resting on the back of his neck and releases once the ball is tossed into the air. It is the type of service action that you'd see at the park or local club. But it is clearly working for him as he holds to 15. 1:46PM Here we go! It's not Wimbledon so players can play in whatever colour they want and Draper comes out in a red and burgundy number. The warm up has started and play should start very soon. 1:24PM Draper back on the grass Hello and welcome to coverage from Queen's Club as Jack Draper gets his campaign under way. The Briton arrives at Queen's as the second seed at an ATP 500 tournament for the first time and will undoubtedly be a leading contender to challenge for the title. 'I look back on my clay court season as a whole and as someone who hasn't done that well on the clay I thought I embraced the surface very well and I improved a lot on it,' Draper reflected in his press conference ahead of the HSBC Championships. 'I got home, had a couple of days off then got on the grass. I was happy to get on a faster surface to be honest. In tennis you have to have a short term memory, you have to understand why you lost certain matches. 'I take it in my stride and obviously feel good coming into these next few tournaments.' With Wimbledon less than two weeks away, Draper will want to have a strong week in west Kensington to boost his preparation. 'I think there's no secret I'd love to do amazingly well this week but Wimbledon would be a priority for me. I think it's always an interesting one, that first match or tournament on the grass, there's a lot of players who maybe aren't amazingly prepared. 'We've just come from a surface where we're grinding out points, having to win the point seven times on the trot to get one point. So, coming onto a fast surface, the margins are small but I'm feeling good and I'm ready to compete as hard as possible. 'It's a home tournament for me as well, so that's an added motivation for me to do well here as well.'
