Saoirse Ronan and her husband Jack Lowden are expecting a baby, the Irish Independent has revealed.
A source close to the couple confirmed the news, with both Saoirse and Jack said to be "thrilled" at the upcoming arrival.
The pair were married in a private ceremony in Edinburgh last summer, with just a handful of close friends present.
Ronan, who is a four-time Oscar nominee, met Lowden in 2018 during the filming of Mary Queen of Scots in which she played Mary and Lowden played Darnley, Mary's second husband.
He has previously described working with Ronan as 'remarkable'.
"The woman is a force of nature, on- and off-screen, and utterly fearless and a brilliant leader as well,' he said.
Ronan gave her reaction to Lowden's comments in an interview with Harper's Bazaar, saying: 'When a person you respect as much as I do him says that, it means more than anyone else's opinion.'
Speaking to British Vogue last year, the 31-year-old said she has 'always wanted' to marry and have children alongside her career.
"I became successful when I was quite young. So it meant that, actually, by the time I found my partner, I'm now at the stage where if it happened, I would like to have a kid,' she said.

The couple share a €2.8m home in Islington, north London, with their terrier, Fran.
In 2020, Ronan was reported to have purchased a two-bedroom waterfront cottage in Ballydehob in west Cork.
The couple produced the 2024 adaptation of The Outrun, which Ronan starred in, describing her husband as 'a lot calmer' than she is as a collaborator.
"He's my voice of reason. But as a duo, we've both been on film sets our whole lives, so we have an appreciation of what we're asking actors to do. We always want them to feel safe,' she told USA Today.
On whether the pair would appear on screens together again, she said: "Jack didn't want to for a long time, but I've now convinced him that's a great idea. I'd really like to do something together on stage.'
The Co Carlow star launched her movie career at a young age and she was just 13 when she picked up her first Oscar nomination in 2008 for Atonement.
Subsequent best actress nominations came for her roles in Brooklyn (2015), Lady Bird (2017) and Little Women (2019).
Her first media appearance was at the age of 10, when she appeared on the late Gerry Ryan's radio show in a bid to win a trip to Florida for her family.
She won the contest with her impression of the Gingerbread Man from Shrek.

Back with a new EP and set to tour Ireland, the Picture This frontman tells Magazine+ that he understands his own band's appeal to fans because he's a 'superfan' himself. 'For us it's always just naturally been about the fans, I think because we're such big fans of music ourselves,' Ryan says. 'I love being a fan of things, I'm a huge Man United fan, I'm a huge Oasis fan, I'm super passionate about Leonard Cohen… people like that get me so excited.' 'I'm sorted for a ticket for Oasis in Croke Park and it will be a huge moment for me because I've never seen them live. Picture This lead singer Ryan Hennessy on stage at Belsonic I've been interviewing Picture This since the start of their career and have seen them navigate the often shark-infested waters of the music business… and live to tell the tale. Nearly 10 years down the line, frontman Hennessy, Jimmy Rainsford (drums), Owen Cardiff (guitar) and Cliff Dean (bass) are enjoying the self-assurance that comes with experience. 'We're leading an extraordinary life, but we're ordinary people and I used to be afraid of saying that. I think it was maybe an ego thing,' Ryan says. 'I didn't want people to think I was ordinary. I wanted people to think I was extraordinary, but the older I get and the more mature I get I realise that I'm just as ordinary as anybody else. 'I'm just very lucky that I lead an extraordinary life and very, very grateful that that's the case. But I like being grounded and on earth with the boys and not being away with the fairies.' Rainsford acknowledges how their wealth of experience has shaped the band. 'It's true that we're very experienced now, we know what we're doing, we have great trust in our team and our fans and we've never been happier creating music than we are today,' Jimmy says. Picture This 'We're always trying to up the stakes a little bit because that's what the fans expect. That's what I would expect from my favourite band anyway. 'I want to be challenged as a fan. I want to be told what to listen to and like and I want to be inspired.' Picture This have weathered many a storm throughout their career. 'Oh we have!' Jimmy says. 'We've had some big storms, the biggest one being the coronavirus. It was just a terrible time and our career was hanging in the balance. 'But in a way I feel kind of thankful for that happening because it really made us stop and realise what we have and how lucky we are. I probably subconsciously still think about that. 'To weather those storms and come back stronger was really important because this is all we do. We don't have any other hobbies.' Picture This will play all over Ireland this summer, coming to a town and city near you. 'It's that old-school approach,' Ryan says. 'We're from Kildare so we know how it feels to forgotten about or overlooked or passed through while people are on the way to Dublin. 'So instead of people travelling to see us, we're coming to see them in their home area.' Releasing today, their new EP, Let The Light In, which includes Let's Try Love and A Thousand Times, is a set of stripped down songs with their unique storytelling. 'It was just the four of us hanging out and playing songs together and they just ended up coming out in that more acoustic stripped style,' Jimmy reveals. Kneecap scoops Spirit of the Festival honour at the Celtic Media Awards
Kneecap have won the top prize at this year's Celtic Media Awards. The Belfast rappers were awarded the Spirit of the Festival for their film in Cornwall. The Spirit of the Festival is a three-day celebration of film, television, radio and digital media, which promotes languages and cultures of the Celtic nations and regions. Directed by Rich Peppiatt, Kneecap is set in west Belfast in 2019 and tells the story of how the group, consisting of Mo Chara, Móglaí Bap and DJ Próvaí, formed and went on to "change the sound of Irish music forever". It also stars Oscar-nominated actor Michael Fassbender, Simone Kirby, Jessica Reynolds and Fionnuala Flaherty. TG4 is the broadcast partner for Kneecap, and the channel's Commissioning Editor, Proinsias Ní Ghráinne, said that this honour follows "a year and a half of incredible success for Kneecap" since the film had its world premiere at the Sundance Film Festival in January 2024, where it won the coveted Audience Award. "Kneecap has brought the Irish language to the most important stages of the world as a powerful creative channel that speaks to indigenous cultures, music lovers and anyone who appreciates good storytelling," Ní Ghráinne said. "TG4's commitment to support this wave of excellence in both scripted and non-scripted content is unwavering. It comes after Kneecap member Liam Og O hAnnaidh who performs as Mo Chara, was charged by Metropolitan Police with a terror offence after he allegedly displayed a Hezbollah flag at a gig last November.
