Gardaí launch probe into ‘mindless, racist violence' after alleged attack in Dublin
The incident took place in at Parkhill Lawns in the Kilnamanagh area of Tallaght at around 6pm on Saturday evening. Gardaí are appealing to people not post or reshare social media content including footage related to the incident. The assault on the Indian man by a group on Saturday has been condemned as 'mindless, racist violence'. The man is believed to have only entered the country a number of weeks ago. The man was taken to Tallaght University Hospital for treatment after the attack on Saturday evening. Fine Gael councillor, Baby Pereppadan for Tallaght South, met with the man on Monday and said he is in 'shock'. He told the Irish Independent: "He couldn't speak much because of the shock he was in, he only arrived in Ireland three weeks ago. He is not taking any visitors at the moment. "I am calling for more Garda presence in the area. Small incidents like these are happening frequently in Tallaght. "People need to understand that many Indian people moving to Ireland are here on work permits, to study and work in the healthcare sector or in IT and so on, providing critical skills.' Sinn Féin TD for Dublin South-West, Seán Crowe, has said that violent and racist attack on Parkhill Road in Tallaght on Saturday must be the last. 'The attack on Parkhill Road, Tallaght on Saturday was vile and utterly unacceptable on so many levels. 'Anyone who thinks this sort of mindless, racist violence makes their community safer is lying and fooling no one. Some residents are increasingly nervous to leave their homes due to this type of behaviour, regardless of whether they are new arrivals to our community or have lived here all their lives. 'I condemn this attack entirely and call on anyone with any information relating to this incident to reach out to the garda authorities. This is not the first such attack in our area, but it has to be the last,' he added. In a statement Gardaí said: "Gardaí in Tallaght were alerted to an incident at Parkhill Road, Tallaght, Dublin 24 on the evening of Saturday 19th July, 2025 at approximately 6pm. 'Gardaí attended the scene and a male, aged in his 40s was taken to Tallaght University Hospital with injuries.'

Indian man assaulted, stripped in Ireland weeks after arrival. Here's what we know
An Indian man was assaulted and partially stripped in the Tallaght area of Dublin on Saturday evening (July 19), just three weeks after arriving in Ireland. According to The Irish Times, the man was targeted by a group of individuals who also accused him - falsely - of acting inappropriately around children. These allegations were reportedly circulated online. Garda sources have confirmed that no evidence supports the claims. The victim sustained several injuries and was found bleeding when emergency services arrived. He was taken to Tallaght University Hospital for treatment. There are speculations that the incident may have been racially motivated. Gardaí have since launched an investigation and are treating it as a possible hate crime Local councillor Baby Pereppadan from Fine Gael, who visited the victim, told the Irish Independent that the man was still in 'shock' and unable to speak much. "He is not taking any visitors," he added, calling for increased police presence in the area. 'Small incidents like these are happening frequently in Tallaght,' he said. Sinn Féin TD for Dublin South-West, Seán Crowe, also condemned the incident, describing it as 'vile and utterly unacceptable'. 'Anyone who thinks this sort of mindless, racist violence makes their community safer is lying and fooling no one,' he told the Irish Independent. Crowe added that such attacks leave both newcomers and long-time residents afraid to go outside. 'This is not the first such attack in our area, but it has to be the last,' he said. Authorities are urging anyone with information to contact Gardaí as investigations continue.

Jeremy Clarkson's girlfriend shares shocking picture of plane crash after miracle escape
Jeremy Clarkson's partner, Lisa Hogan, was travelling to London from Spain in the 90s when she had a near-death experience on a plane Jeremy Clarkson's girlfriend, Lisa Hogan, 'amazingly' survived a plane crash and took to social media to share a terrifying picture of the wreckage from 1996. The 51-year-old model had the horrifying experience 29 years ago when the plane came off the runway at RAF Northolt in London and hit a van on the A40. At the time, she was heading into London for a film role when the accident happened. This week, she took to her social media page to share a picture from the wreckage as she recalled the shocking moment that saw no casualties. The picture showed the Spanish Learjet 25 plane split in half after colliding into the van. She was living in Palma, Spain and working on the comedy Fierce Creatures from Monty Python and Fawlty Towers actor John Cleese. "Amazingly, the pilots, van drivers, and I survived. I took another flight the same day. And landed safely," she captioned the post on Instagram. It comes after former Top Gear star Jeremy discussed the couple's record on airplanes. The duo 'walked away from three crashes over the years'. He said to the Sunday Times: "Whenever Lisa and I board an aeroplane, we are usually pretty confident that it will land safely because between us, we've walked away from three crashes over the years. "Both mine involved broken landing gear and were fairly minor, but hers was a proper shunt. She was the only passenger in a Learjet that careered off the end of the runway at Northolt and on to the A40, where it was hit so hard by a van that it split in two. "It's amazing no one was killed, and if you Google the images, you'll see what I mean." He went on to say that the 'law of averages' suggests they wouldn't be involved in any more crashes. Lisa previously told the Irish Independent she thought "everything was fine for a while" when the plane took off from Palma. Lisa said the captain tried to get her to change seats, but she refused to do so. "I insisted on sitting where I was, which was just as well because that was the area where the van came through when we crashed and I would have been killed instantly,' she told the publication, with her refusal to move seats possibly saving her life. A few hours later, she booked another flight and returned to Spain.
