Menomonee Falls champagne theft; police seek to ID 2 people suspected
Menomonee Falls police are trying to identify a man and woman who they say stole a case of champagne from a gas station.
The crime happened on Sunday morning, July 6 at the Hometown gas station on Lisbon Road.
The couple left in an SUV with Minnesota license plates that do not belong to the vehicle.
MENOMONEE FALLS, Wis. - Menomonee Falls police are asking for the public's help to identify a man and woman they say stole a case of champagne from a gas station.
What we know
Officials said shortly before 11 a.m. on Sunday, July 6, a woman and man entered the Hometown gas station on Lisbon Road. The man removed a case of champagne valued at $383 while the clerk was distracted, a news release says.
Police say the man and woman left in a silver Jeep with Minnesota registration, NDT655. The registration does not match the vehicle.

Meth-loving squatters allegedly took over Texas home while family was on vacation
A Texas family's home was allegedly overtaken by a pair of alcohol-swilling and meth-loving squatters while they were on vacation. Jerry Vallade, 43, and Dustin Gamblin, 40, were arrested after they allegedly broke into the home and settled in — even wearing the family's clothes, driving their Jeep and cooking their food, according to Fox 26. The couple immediately rushed home, where they found that the suspects had eaten their food, used their shower, drank their booze, and wore their clothing. 'They drank all our alcohol, chopped up some brisket, had hot sauce out,' Connie said. Connie also found a bag of meth inside the console of her Jeep as she was on her way to get a car wash. Cops then found a baggie of the drugs inside the home, the local outlet reported. 3 The homeowner found a baggie of meth in their Jeep that the squatters had left behind. I guess they were going to cook it tonight if we didn't come home,' Joe told the outlet. 'At least they didn't tear the house up,' he said. 'It could've been worse.' The alleged squatters now face charges of drug possession, breaking and entering, and unauthorized use of a vehicle. Texas Gov. Greg Abbott has pushed for stricter anti-squatting laws in the Lone Star State. 'Private property rights are a cornerstone of our values and legal system,' Abbott said in February. 'It is against the law to live or stay on somebody's property without their permission. We need stronger laws to immediately remove and prosecute squatters.' He signed a bill into law making it easier for landlords to boot squatters and introducing new criminal penalties for the interlopers, according to KVUE.

Two men arrested, charged with squatting in Harris County home while owners were on vacation
HOUSTON - Two men are in custody at the Harris County Jail after allegedly breaking into a family's home and living there while the homeowners were away on vacation, deputies said. The incident occurred Aug. 5 at a residence on Thiess Road near FM 1960 and Aldine Westfield. Homeowners Connie and Joe Cases told FOX 26 their son-in-law drove up to the home and spotted one man, later identified as 43-year-old Jerry Vallade, sitting on the front porch. "He told him he knew us, because he'd seen our name," said Connie Cases. "As he's talking to him, our Jeep comes pulling down the road with the other thief driving it." Deputies say 40-year-old Dustin Gamblin was the man driving the Jeep. He got out the vehicle and walked to the nearest gas station before officers arrived. Both men were arrested within the hour. The Cases returned from their trip immediately after getting a call from their son-in-law and discovered the suspects had been staying in their house, helping themselves to food, the shower, clothing, and alcohol. "They drank all our alcohol, chopped up some brisket, had hot sauce out," Cases said. They say the two men also found all of their old cell phones and began charging them. "I'm sure they were going to stay longer — Connie just found some boudin in our freezer. I guess they were going to cook it tonight if we didn't come home," said Joe Case. Both men face felony charges including drug possession, breaking and entering, and unauthorized use of a vehicle. Court documents show Gamblin has a criminal record dating back to 2005. Gamblin faces a $60,000 bond, and Vallade a $35,000 bond. "At least they didn't tear the house up," Joe said. "It could've been worse." Shortly before our interview, Connie Cases found a bag of meth inside of the console in her Jeep while driving it to a local car wash. Deputies found the men in possession of the drugs, and another bag was found inside the home.
