Kishan urges CM to implement Ayushman Bharat Scheme in TG
Addressing the media after launching the Telangana's Marketing and Distribution Warehouse of Pradhana Mantri Bharatiya Jan Aushadi Pariyojana (PMBJP) along with the State Governor Jishnu Dev Verma on Sunday, he said, 'Retirees have to spend their entire pension on medical expenses. Even poor and middle class people, if they fall ill, have to spend their entire life's earnings on medical treatment. That is why Prime Minister Narendra Modi is taking many initiatives for the health of the poor and middle class people. He has brought the Ayushman Bharat scheme, which provides free insurance of Rs. 5 lakh per year to every person, and has successfully provided the facility of treatment in any hospital. We are providing free treatment to senior citizens above 70 years of age through the Ayushman Bharat scheme'.
He said the Centre introduced wellness centers christened as Basti Dawakhanas in Telangana. This entire system is run by the central government. The Jan Aushadi Kenderas is meant to provide medicines at very low prices to make them affordable to the people.
Further, Kishan Reddy said that medicines are provided at 50 to 90 percent less than the prices of medicines in general medical shops. In addition, they are providing employment to the unemployed youth for which the Centre is providing huge subsidy to start them. The objective was to set up Jan Aushadhi Kendras on a large scale to provide medicines to the poor at low prices.
The Union Minister said that he was happy to inaugurate the depot for Jan Aushadi Kendras in Telangana. Earlier, 'the then Chief Minister K Chandraskehara Rao did not implement the Ayushman Bharat Scheme. I request Chief Minister A Revanth Reddy to implement the Ayushman Bharat scheme effectively in the state,' he said.

State govt hospitals lack fire safety clearance: MLC
Shivamogga: Govt hospitals lack fire safety clearance in the state, BJP MLC Dhananjay Sarji said. He highlighted the insufficient number of govt hospitals in Karnataka with fire safety clearance during the legislative council session on Monday. He referred to recent fire accidents and called on the govt to relax regulations for older buildings and establish a timeline for obtaining clearance. Sarji questioned health and family welfare minister Dinesh Gundu Rao about the discrepancy in fire safety clearances between govt and private hospitals. According to the National Building Code (NBC), both govt and private hospitals are subject to identical regulations. However, the minister disclosed that only 14 out of 2,878 govt hospitals (0.005%) and 315 out of 5,850 private hospitals (0.05%) have secured fire safety clearance. Pointing out that five district hospitals in the state experienced fire accidents in the past two years, Sarji stressed the importance of ensuring all govt hospitals obtain fire safety clearance. He cited the Shivamogga District McGann Hospital fire accident a few years ago, during which 46 children were safely relocated to Sarji Hospital. Sarji said that under the Ayushman Bharat scheme, the govt has treated 63 lakh patients, many of whom are referred to private hospitals. He identified the lack of fire safety clearance as a significant problem and urged the govt to consider easing the rules, similar to measures taken in Maharashtra and Andhra Pradesh, where specific fire safety laws for hospitals have been implemented. Apollo Hospitals posts 42 pc jump in profit to Rs 433 cr in Q1
New Delhi, Aug 12 (PTI) Apollo Hospitals Enterprise Ltd on Tuesday reported a 42 per cent jump in profit after tax to Rs 433 crore in the June quarter. The healthcare services provider had reported a PAT of Rs 305 crore in the year-ago period, according to a company release. Revenues rose 15 per cent to Rs 5,842 crore in the first quarter of the current fiscal year from Rs 5,086 crore in Q1 FY25, it said. Healthcare services revenue rose 11 per cent to Rs 2,935 crore in the first quarter of FY26 against Rs 2,637 crore in Q1 FY25, the statement said. CM urges youth to stay away from drugs on International Youth Day
Shimla: On the occasion of International Youth Day on Tuesday, chief minister Sukhvinder Singh Sukhu urged the youth of the state to stay away from drugs and actively support efforts to make Himachal drug-free. Tired of too many ads? go ad free now Sukhu appealed to young people to report drug traffickers to the police and assured that the state govt was committed to rehabilitating those trapped in the drug menace. Strict action was being taken against drug mafias, including the confiscation of their properties, he added. "The reforms we are implementing today will benefit the youth in the next five years when they will proudly say they belong to the most prosperous state in the country," he added. The chief minister also flagged off a 'Red Run' and 'Bicycle Run' from his official residence earlier in the morning and honoured the winners. To promote tourism, the state would invest Rs 3,000 crore in the coming years. The govt is offering loans at a 4% interest rate for home-stay construction. Presently, about 8,000 home-stays are operational in the state, and tourism activities have begun along the China border, he added. Educational reforms have elevated Himachal's ranking from 21st to 5th in the country, said Sukhu. He also started the second phase of the 'Car-Bin Distribution' drive, handing bins to 50 taxi drivers in Shimla. Across the state, 6,000 car-bins will be distributed, in addition to the 4,000 distributed earlier in the first phase. HIV Cases On The Rise The chief minister launched an HIV awareness campaign, scheduled to run from Aug 12 to Oct 12. Health minister Colonel Dhani Ram Shandil (retd) expressed concern over the 6,408 HIV cases reported in the state, of which 1,453 are among youth aged 15-30 years. He said the state govt is promoting HIV testing and treatment alongside running awareness programmes to curb the spread of the disease.
