Emmerdale teases very unexpected romance as flirting ramps up
Manpreet Sharma (Rebecca Sarker) is certainly lonely in Emmerdale.
The character was in a relationship with Charles Anderson (Kevin Mathurin) last year, but they split in the aftermath of Ethan's (Emile John) sudden death.
A few months ago, we learnt that Charles sleeping with Laurel (Charlotte Bellamy) impacted Manpreet's self-confidence.
As a result of wanting to feel validated, she took to sharing private images of herself online, which were eventually discovered by Joe Tate (Ned Porteous), and used in a blackmail plot.
With Manpreet searching for a spark where the world of love and lust is concerned, she grabbed an opportunity tonight when she saw Ross Barton (Michael Parr) all alone.
Ross was playing pool and drinking by himself after being dumped by Steph (Georgia Jay). He wasn't exactly looking for a rebound, but didn't have a problem with Manpreet arriving and trying to flirt.
With time, the two characters enjoying themselves and dropping subtle innuendos.

Fans of Doctor Who have shared their concern that the beloved BBC show is 'running out of ideas' following a new rumour that former Time Lord David Tennant is set to reprise his role on the show. As its two-part series finale concluded last week, The Doctor (Ncuti Gatwa) sparked a shock regeneration while tapping into the heart of the TARDIS to shift reality itself. In doing so, he succeeded in saving Space Baby Poppy, pulling her into a reality where Belinda Chandra (Varada Sethu) had always been her mother. However, this use of his Time Lord energy came at a cost – and, after bidding farewell to Belinda, the Doctor began to regenerate into his Sixteenth form. (Re)enter Billie Piper, whose face replaced Ncuti's in a blast of regeneration energy. 'Oh hello,' grinned the one-time Rose Tyler as the end credits rolled, seemingly taking his place as the Sixteenth Doctor. As speculation blazes on that this new 'Doctor' may not be all she seems, another rumoured return has fans worried that the show is becoming far too reliant on its own past. In a rumour reported by The Sun, Billie's casting is set to facilitate a return from another face from recent history – former Tenth Doctor David. 'There is talk about a possible one-off project to celebrate the 20th anniversary. David and Billie were a hugely popular partnership and he brought in a golden age of Doctor Who,' an insider told the tabloid. 'With the anniversary of the reboot this year, there have been some ideas floated about, with the thought of maybe bringing David and Billie back together for one last hurrah.' If (and it's a big if!) true, this would be the third time David has returned to the role since his exit in 2010. Following a crossover episode with Matt Smith in 2013, David officially regenerated back into himself in 2023, becoming the Fourteenth Doctor for three special episodes. Reacting to this speculative news on X, fans shared their fears for the show's future, with IanOTimelord writing: 'No, no, no. [series showrunner Russell T Davies] needs to go if true. He's run out of ideas. The brand is wounded.' 'The current show runners appear to have run out of ideas then?' said Squarepush33279. 'I wish the good writers made a comeback' joked and_catch_fire. 'Russell needs to move on!' exclaimed CHG3899. With Doctor Who's return date yet to be confirmed by either the BBC or its overlords at Disney, it remains unknown why Billie is back… or who she's really playing. In the end credits to Saturday's episode, both Ncuti and Thirteenth Doctor Jodie Whittaker were given their formal title, while Billie got a more cryptic 'introducing' credit. This has led to speculation that she may not be playing The Doctor at all… which is possibly for the best, if previous statements are anything to go by. 'I don't think the Doctor should be a woman,' she told HELLO! back in 2009. She added: 'Forgive me, I know it's not a feminist thing to say, but it's like saying, 'Let's make James Bond a woman'. It's a man's role.' Thankfully, she changed her tune eight years later, just in time for Jodie to take on the role. 'I think it would be great [to have a female Doctor] given the spirit of the world at the moment. I think it would be timely,' Billie said. A popular fan theory suggests that Billie/Rose's return to Doctor Who may have something to do with the 2005 episode The Parting of the Ways. In the series finale's climax, Rose unleashed the heart of the TARDIS to save the universe from Dalek extermination. With the energy she had absorbed set to kill Rose, The Doctor (played by Christopher Eccleston) took it into himself – causing his regeneration into David Tennant. Rose and her new Doctor quickly hit it off, sparking a romance between the Time Lord and his companion which was cut short when she became trapped in an alternate reality with only her mum and the Doctor's Meta-Crisis doppelganger for company. Since then, she has returned to the franchise for three spin-off audio adventures, as well as a surprise cameo (but not as Rose!) in 2013's Day of The Doctor crossover. The Rivals star has been pretty emphatic that after the 60th anniversary, he's keen to take a break from the show, and to be honest, I think that's the right attitude. One of the big issues with the series in recent years is its reliance on nostalgia. With that in mind, I fear bringing him back for a third time risks making Doctor Who into the David Tennant show and robbing the series of its identity. As the 11th Doctor once said, 'We all change when you think about it… And that's okay, that's good. You've got to keep moving.' This has led some to wonder whether the events of The Parting of the Ways are still in play, leading to some residual 'Bad Wolf' energy in Ncuti's surprise regeneration. Billie herself has kept quiet on the specifics, instead celebrating her return to the franchise with a post on Instagram. Joe Swash shares 'constant battle' he has with Stacey amid marriage concerns
They revealed on their reality TV series Stacey and Joe: Full House that they've been to marriage counselling to keep their relationship on track, but are still fighting a common parenting battle Loose Women star Stacey Solomon and her husband Joe Swash have given a realistic perspective on their home life, admitting they have a "constant battle" with their kids. Former EastEnders actor Joe, 43, and Stacey, 35, have six children between them. Together, they have Rex, five, Rose, three, and Belle, two. Stacey has two children from previous relationships, Leighton, 12, and Zachary, 17. Joe also has a 17-year-old son, Harry, who he had with his ex Emma Sophocleous. The couple separated when their son was very young, with Joe going to court to see his son. But parenting has taken on new difficulties in recent years, with Stacey and Joe forced to put their feet down when it comes to the relatable issue of screen time. They now call using the phone "a privilege", making sure Rex only has an hour at the weekend to play games if he behaves at school and completes his chores. In a new interview with Huffington Post, Joe explained his and Stacey's "battle" with their son and his weekly reward of screen time. He said: "But even that, me and Stacey begrudgingly let him have that. "It's difficult, it's a constant battle ... And even then, when he's playing the games, we're constantly watching what he's doing, what games he's playing. It's something that concerns us, you know?" Joe explained that he feels it's a balancing act - with their older children, he knows that access to a phone is a big part of their social life. But he still wants to keep tabs on their usage, to make sure they're safe. Although the couple are on the same page when it comes to using the internet, Joe admits there's "no real right or wrong". He added that every parent is "muddling through" and "making mistakes". The couple are always ones to keep it real, and with their new reality show Stacey & Joe: Full House, fans are getting a look into life behind closed doors for the close-knit family. Their series has given a realistic look into the ups and downs of family life, and how they all navigate their busy careers and home. The pair, who tied the knot in 2022, revealed they've turned to marriage therapy to keep their relationship on track. A source recently told OK! that Stacey and Joe may have underplayed how big a step having cameras around for every tricky moment would be. The source said: "They underestimated how difficult it was going to be doing this reality show and having cameras around, and watching it back hasn't been the easiest thing. The pressures of all the kids and work while balancing their relationship has been hard, they won't deny that." The source also claims they are proud of opening up about having couple's therapy on-air. 'They're going to therapy because they love each other and would never want to get to the point where they don't want to be together anymore. Yes, there have been ups and downs and it's been quite a rollercoaster - but they know there's no shame in therapy and both realise it's the best thing for their relationship and to iron out their issues.'

Doctor Who's finale infuriated fans – but the next series will fix everything
Doctor Who is in an odd place both in the fictional universe it inhabits and our mundane reality. Last we saw, the tenacious Time Lord Ncuti Gatwa was burning away to reveal the Doctor's new face, and it looked very familiar. For whatever reason, the Last of the Time Lords appeared to have taken on the form of his old companion Rose Tyler (Billie Piper). Needless to say, this sudden and unexpected transformation has left a lot of fans very curious – and in some cases downright furious – about what's next for the good doctor. Annoyingly, however, the BBC and Russell T Davies have remained tight-lipped on the situation and at the time of writing, there's been no word on the beloved sci-fi series' future or whether Disney is interested in helping finance another run. So what's a Gallifreyan superfan to do then? Well, here at Metro we've gathered our team of dedicated Doctor Who experts – Deputy TB Editor Tom Percival, TV Reporter Asyia Iftikhar, and Senior TV Reporter Rebecca Cooke – and cracked out the crystal ball to predict what's next for the show, both in terms of the story and the thorny world of TV production. It might just be me, but it seems painfully obvious where Doctor Who is going next. Regardless of Disney's involvement, I think we're getting at least one more special, and I don't believe that Billie is playing a true incarnation of the Doctor. Instead, it seems far more plausible that she's the Bad Wolf entity borrowing the Doctor's body. Basically, in this imagined special, we'd learn that Rose's consciousness exists in the Time Vortex as Bad Wolf. When 15 poured his regeneration energy into the time vortex to bring back Poppy, part of that consciousness merged with the Doctor. Sadly, it's not a true regeneration, and this new 'Meta-Crisis Rose Doctor' has a limited time until the body finishes 'cooking' and the true 16th Doc emerges. In that time, though, she has all Rose's memories and all the Doctor's abilities, so she decides to track down her Doctor… aka David Tennant. Over the course of a special, we then get 'Rose Doctor' travelling through the Doctor's timeline, running into some familiar faces (old companions and some returning Doctors perhaps?) before one final tear-jerking run-in with the 10th Doctor giving closure on Davies' tenure and the revived Doctor Who series. Basically it's one big happy ending. What happens next depends on whether the BBC wants more Doctor Who or not. But either way, I think it'll end with the Rose Doctor regenerating into the true 16th Doctor. This will either lead to a third season or, if the BBC decides it's done with Who, the regeneration will be left open-ended for some future writer to pick up a decade or so from now. Whatever happens, though, I think it's time for some fresh blood, and that means two things. Drop Russell T Davies and leave the nostalgia for New Who behind. Change is part of the show's DNA, and the refusal to 'regenerate' has been holding the series back. Disney will pull out of the deal, and the show will fall back into the BBC's hands, returning with a 2026 festive special by which time they will have chosen the 16th Doctor proper. In the Christmas special, much like Susan's cameo was teased and never addressed again in season two, Billie Piper will make a fleeting appearance before the show quickly moves on. I believe she won't even last the full episode, and her cameo will be resolved perhaps even in the first 5 to 10 minutes, as the Doctor's regeneration goes wacky due to Rose's energy being in the Time Vortex after the Bad Wolf incident. Billie will then regenerate into thetrue16th Doctor, who will have their introductory adventure. The show will then return in 2027 for a full season three (ideally returning to, at least, the 10-episode structure provided for Jodie Whittaker's era) with a brand new companion. Belinda Chandra, Ruby Sunday, the 15th Doctor, and whoever Billie is portraying will be firmly left in the past – and, like you, I hope and assume there will be a new showrunner. It's fair to say the Billie Piper reveal has not gone down well. Most see it as the Whoniverse putting the brand on life support, where the memories of the good ol' heyday of the Russell reboot are intravenously administered to keep the dwindling fanbase hopeful that our ailing Tardis might pull through. So, if an idea like, say, bringing back a beloved companion and defying show logic by making her a Time Lord were to backfire, how best to style it out? This season gave fans a lot of things on their wishlist: big budget, stellar Doctor, lovable companion, some cracking episodes (Lux, The Well, etc). But still, it seemed the only fans tuning in were the meta superfans we met when the Doctor battled Mr Ring-a-Ding. Let's go out on a limb here and say that Disney won't back out. That Rose is the Sixteenth Doctor. (All the logical predictions have been taken.) In order to get fans back in and keep Disney sweet, we might have a big shake-up on our hands. Huge. Piper is so bonkers and out-there a person to appear in the regeneration, it could upset the time-space continuum enough to usher in the new normal: a Doctor-of-the-week format. More Trending Hear me out. Perhaps Piper is explained away with some timey-wimey nonsense, and perhaps it turns out the mechanics of Time Lord-dom are broken. He/she/they is regenerating every hour of television, to be precise. Which Doctor Who prediction do you think is right?
