Make-or-Break Year for Joey Porter Jr? | Steelers Morning Rush
Welcome to Steelers Morning Rush, our new daily short-form podcast with Alan Saunders, giving a longer perspective on a single news topic surrounding the Pittsburgh Steelers or the National Football League. Today, it's whether the 2025 season is make or break for cornerback Joey Porter Jr. Porter has had a solid first two seasons as the Steelers' starting cornerback, and there's plenty of reason to be optimistic about the player that he's already become. But there's also nothing physically stopping him from being one of the best cornerbacks in the NFL. With his rookie contract set to expire after the 2026 season, this year will be the last chance for Porter to put down tape that he will get paid on. So is this a make-or-break season for the Penn State product? Alan breaks it down. #steelers #herewego #nfl CONNECT WITH STEELERS NOW: Steelers Now: https://steelersnow.com SN on Twitter: https://twitter.com/pghsteelersnow SN on FB: https://facebook.com/steelersnow SN on Insta: https://www.instagram.com/pghsteelersnow/

Ex-Buffalo Bills Receiver Meeting With AFC Rival

Ex-Buffalo Bills Receiver Meeting With AFC Rival originally appeared on Athlon Sports. The Buffalo Bills have had a lot of question marks at wide receiver over the past few years. The Bills have had more than a few costly departures, from brought in talent such as Stephon Diggs and homegrown talent such as Gabe Davis. Advertisement Davis was drafted in the fourth round of the 2020 NFL Draft by the Bills. In his four seasons in Buffalo, Davis tallied 2,730 yards and 27 touchdowns. The Bills did not extend Davis beyond his rookie deal, leading to him signing with the Jacksonville Jaguars on a three-year, $39 million contract. Davis struggled in Jacksonville's offense, only catching 20 of his 42 targets and posting 239 yards and two touchdowns. Davis' season was cut short by a torn meniscus in his left knee, only playing in 10 games. The Jaguars released Davis after the season, and he is currently looking for a new home: a home, reportedly, also in the AFC. Advertisement ESPN's Adam Schefter reported that Davis is taking a meeting with the Pittsburgh Steelers on Thursday. "Sources: Former Bills and Jaguars WR Gabe Davis is scheduled to travel to Pittsburgh on Wednesday to visit with the Steelers on Thursday." Schefter posted on X. The Steelers are looking to add playmakers and pass catchers, and Davis is as good of a bounce-back candidate as they can get. "Pittsburgh has been seeking additional receiving help and has inquired about, but is not expected to trade for, Miami TE Jonnu Smith." Shefter added. Davis earned the nickname "Big Game Gabe" during his tenure in Buffalo. He had a number of standout performances for the Bills, namely in the playoffs. Advertisement In the Bills' overtime thriller against the Kansas City Chiefs in the 2021 AFC Divisional Round, Davis was the star of the game, despite the loss. Davis tallied 201 yards and four touchdowns on just eight receptions, having one of the greatest playoff performances in Bills' history. His heroics in the divisional game marked just the ninth time a player has recorded 200+ receiving yards in a playoff game, and the first time a receiver has hauled in four touchdowns. Steelers quickly settle any Aaron Rodgers jersey number mystery after signing

Aaron Rodgers has already found his jersey number with the Steelers. Rodgers, 41, is set to wear No. 8 next season with Pittsburgh, the team shared in a social media post. The number previously belonged to Steelers punter Corliss Waitman, who will now switch to No. 3 for the upcoming season, per ESPN's Adam Schefter. Advertisement Rodgers previously wore No. 8 during his two seasons with the Jets after wearing No. 12 for 18 years in Green Bay. Corey Sipkin for the NY POST Rodgers, who initially agreed to sign with the Steelers on Thursday, finalized the contract Saturday, with both parties agreeing on a one-year deal worth $13.65 million, according to multiple reports. Advertisement The contract, which includes $10 million of guaranteed money, also has performance incentives that could potentially raise the amount to $19.5 million. Rodgers' signing ultimately ends a monthslong free agency saga following his departure from the Jets in February. Rodgers played in just 18 games with the Jets across two seasons after the 10-time Pro-Bowler suffered a season-ending Achilles injury during his first game with the team in 2023. Tensions were apparently high between Rodgers and Jets management amid his departure from the team, with new head coach Aaron Glenn not showing 'ample respect' during the pair's final meeting, according to the four-time MVP. Bill Kostroun/New York Post During an appearance on 'The Pat McAfee Show' in April, Rodgers said the conversation between him and Glenn was short, with new head coach 'running out of the room' to get general manager Darren Mougey. 'That was kind of strange,' Rodgers said at the time. 'I think we are going to have this long conversation. I've flown across the country, and 20 seconds in he goes and he leans to the edge of his seat and says, 'So, you want to play football?' And I'm like, 'Yeah, I'm interested.' And he was like, 'We're going in a different direction at quarterback.' 'I was kind of shocked. Not shocked because I didn't think it was a possibility, but shocked because I just flew across the country and you could've told me this over the phone.'
