King attends investiture ceremony to present federal awards

KUALA LUMPUR: His Majesty Sultan Ibrahim, King of Malaysia has attended the Investiture ceremony at Istana Negara on Monday (June 2) to present federal awards, medals and honours conferred in conjunction with his official birthday.
It is the second investiture ceremony by His Majesty after being installed as the 17th King of Malaysia on July 20 last year.
On arrival, His Majesty, accompanied by Her Majesty Raja Zarith Sofiah, Queen of Malaysia, was greeted by Prime Minister Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim and his wife Datuk Seri Dr Wan Azizah Wan Ismail.
Their Majesties were then escorted to the Royal Dais to receive the salute by the guard of honour mounted by members of the 1st Battalion of the Royal Malay Regiment led by Major Khairul Fakhzan Zainol Abidin and comprising three officers and 103 other ranks, at Dataran Istana Negara.
At the same time, the Negaraku was played by the regiment's band and His Majesty's Personal Flag was hoisted followed by a 21-gun salute by the 41st Battery of the Royal Artillery Regiment.
His Majesty then inspected the guard of honour and upon completion of the inspection, His Majesty once again received the Royal Salute before the national anthem was played.
Their Majesties were then escorted by Anwar and his wife to the Balairung Seri for the investiture ceremony.
A total of 116 recipients received federal awards, medals and honours. – Bernama

Bernama had earlier reported that Tan began her work as a sign language interpreter out of love for her hearing-impaired younger sibling. She learned sign language to help her sibling and also served as a teacher for 17 years for the hearing impaired. Since 1994, Tan has been the first sign language interpreter at the Federal Court of Malaysia, while her involvement in broadcasting began around 1985, through the program Selamat Pagi Malaysia on RTM, and later also became a sign language interpreter for RTM news broadcasts and official communication videos.

KUALA LUMPUR: Two leaders from the Orang Asli community have spoken of their pride and gratitude after being invited to a Royal Tea Reception at Istana Negara, hosted in honour of the official birthday of His Majesty Sultan Ibrahim, King of Malaysia. Mat Ajin Waya, the Tok Batin of Kampung Orang Asli Sungai Melut in Sepang, Selangor, said it was the first time in his nearly 30 years of service that he had stepped inside the national palace. 'This is the first I've visited Istana Negara. I even had the chance to shake hands and take a photo with the King. I feel truly honoured and proud to represent the Orang Asli community,' the 60-year-old village head told Bernama. Also attending was Marin Munggai, 53, chairperson of Kampung Orang Asli Bukit Bangkong in Sungai Pelek, Selangor, who described the event as one of the most meaningful moments of his life. The two were among around 1,200 guests at the reception, held in the palace's main banquet hall. Other attendees included Prime Minister Anwar Ibrahim and his wife Wan Azizah Wan Ismail, Cabinet ministers, Members of Parliament, foreign envoys and heads of government departments. Outstanding educators, national Olympic and Paralympic athletes, retired police and military personnel, national artists as well as students set to pursue higher education at leading institutions, including Harvard University, were also present.

The event, hosted at the Main Banquet Hall, was attended by the royal couple's children, Tunku Temenggong Johor Tunku Idris Iskandar, Tunku Panglima Johor Tunku Abdul Rahman, Tunku Putera Johor Tunku Abu Bakar, as well as Tunku Tun Aminah Maimunah Iskandariah and her husband, Datuk Dennis Muhammad Abdullah. The event, which started at 3pm, was attended by Prime Minister Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim and his wife, Datuk Seri Dr Wan Azizah Wan Ismail, along with around 1,200 guests, including Cabinet ministers, Members of Parliament, foreign envoys, and heads of government departments.
