Sultan Ibrahim's official birthday marked by elegant tea reception with PM, royals, and distinguished guests
KUALA LUMPUR, June 4 — His Majesty Sultan Ibrahim and Her Majesty Raja Zarith Sofiah, King and Queen of Malaysia, today graced a Royal Tea Reception at Istana Negara in conjunction with his official birthday celebration. The event, hosted at the Main Banquet Hall, was attended by the royal couple's children, Tunku Temenggong Johor Tunku Idris Iskandar, Tunku Panglima Johor Tunku Abdul Rahman, Tunku Putera Johor Tunku Abu Bakar, as well as Tunku Tun Aminah Maimunah Iskandariah and her husband, Datuk Dennis Muhammad Abdullah. The event, which started at 3pm, was attended by Prime Minister Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim and his wife, Datuk Seri Dr Wan Azizah Wan Ismail, along with around 1,200 guests, including Cabinet ministers, Members of Parliament, foreign envoys, and heads of government departments. Also in attendance were Communications Minister Datuk Fahmi Fadzil and his wife Datin Azrina Puteri Mohamed Mahyuddin, as well as the ministry's secretary-general Datuk Mohamad Fauzi Md Isa and his wife Datin Nik Noralhuda Nik Mohamed. Distinguished guests included Orang Asli community leaders, outstanding educators, national Olympic and Paralympic athletes, retired police and military personnel, national artists as well as students set to pursue higher education at leading institutions, including Harvard University. A video presentation of the recent Federal Awards and Honours Ceremony, held on Monday at Istana Negara, was screened during the event, accompanied by an orchestral performance by the Kuala Lumpur City Hall (DBKL) orchestra. Earlier, upon Their Majesties' arrival at the banquet hall, the national anthem Negaraku was played, followed by a prayer recital. The reception concluded with a symbolic cake-cutting ceremony featuring a replica of the Istana Negara arch, officiated by His Majesty. Following the event, Sultan Ibrahim and Raja Zarith Sofiah took time to greet and mingle with guests, posing for photographs and exchanging well wishes. — Bernama

Agong warns leaders against politicising sensitive issues, says united rakyat is the greatest gift for him

His Majesty stated that the existence of more political parties or factions within parties would lead to a widened rift among the people, resulting in escalating enmity among them. 'Use your wisdom before making any decisions. There is no greater gift to me than a united rakyat. 'I have mentioned before that there is a virus that will strike our nation. Now, this virus has begun to spread and cannot be cured. I often speak of this so that we do not easily forget,' His Majesty said. Sultan Ibrahim was speaking during the Royal Address at the Investiture Ceremony for the year 2025 in conjunction with the King's official birthday celebration at Istana Negara. Her Majesty Raja Zarith Sofiah, the Queen of Malaysia, was also in attendance. In birthday message, King reminds civil servants loyalty means trust and integrity — not blind worship
KUALA LUMPUR, June 2 — His Majesty, Sultan Ibrahim, the King of Malaysia, today expressed his appreciation of the Madani Government and its civil servants, who have worked hard to manage the country's economy and development. Sultan Ibrahim said the success of the recent Asean Summit was proof of the country's leadership's ability to strengthen regional and international cooperation. 'Although there are those who underestimate Malaysia's capabilities, with hard work and a spirit of cooperation, especially by civil servants, all challenges and obstacles have been successfully overcome,' said His Majesty. Sultan Ibrahim was speaking during the Royal Address at the Investiture Ceremony for the year 2025 in conjunction with the King's official birthday celebration at Istana Negara. Also present was Her Majesty, Raja Zarith Sofiah, the Queen of Malaysia. Present at the ceremony were Prime Minister Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim and his wife, Datuk Seri Dr Wan Azizah Wan Ismail, Communications Minister Datuk Fahmi Fadzil and Cabinet Ministers. Sultan Ibrahim also reminded civil servants to provide excellent service and practise the second principle of the Rukun Negara, which is 'Loyalty to the King and the Country'. The King stressed that civil servants must be free from the influence of political parties, be neutral and always prioritise the interests of the country and the people. 'Government officials must ensure that every decision made is in accordance with the conditions and regulations set, not according to the dictates of politicians. 'Every expenditure must also be closely controlled, and cannot be used as desired, by ministers or members of Parliament, to fish for votes, to the point of causing the government's debt to increase,' said the King. Sultan Ibrahim also called on all enforcement agencies to carry out their duties with full integrity so that the people do not lose trust and continue to respect the uniform they wear. — Bernama

Not for sale: Sultan Ibrahim stresses titles like Datuk and Tan Sri must be earned, not bought
KUALA LUMPUR, June 2 — His Majesty, Sultan Ibrahim, the King of Malaysia, stressed that federal awards of orders, stars and medals are not for sale or lobbying, but are only given to individuals who are truly deserving and have rendered service to the government and the country. Sultan Ibrahim said that although the government has outlined the conditions for consideration, he will still re-evaluate each proposed candidate. 'In my view, only individuals who have served and rendered service to the government for a long time, or who have brought glory to the country, should be accepted. Indeed, not many pass the conditions every year. Although there are parties who lobby, I will not entertain them. 'The ranks of Datuk and Tan Sri are not for sale. If you have a lot of money, do charity, help the poor and needy,' said His Majesty.
