Kooks urge ‘peace and love and sun cream' at TRNSMT festival
Frontman Luke Pritchard told the PA news agency The Kooks had 'got their mojo' back with their latest album Never/Know.
He said he was honoured to be invited back to the festival again and again since playing it at its debut in 2017.
Asked how he would describe the festival in Glasgow, the singer said it was 'warm, electric and quite intense'.
'We are so excited,' he said.
'We've been looking forward to this for ages. We have played TRNSMT so many times, and so we feel very honoured, lucky – it's like coming home, so I feel good.
'And we've got a new album to play. It's positive record – soul, rock and roll.
'Took it back to the roots of the band with a bit of modern energy.
'It seems to have gone down very well, especially with our fans.'

Hugh Harris, the band's lead guitarist, added, 'We love it. We are just honoured to still be doing this 20 years later', having played TRNSMT's predecessor T in the Park in the 2000s, which he described with a smile as 'chaos'.
But what is different this time, according to Mr Pritchard, is 'we've got our mojo back'.
'You know, you go through ups and downs so it's a good time to come back.
'But you're right, every few years we seem to be here and we don't ask too many questions about that – we'd play here every year if they wanted us to.'
The band said one of their favourite memories in Scotland was playing the classic Glasgow venue King Tut's Wah Wah Hut, before going to the Blue Lagoon chip shop.
Mr Pritchard said: 'After the gig we always used to get deep-fried haggis. It was amazing.'
Asked for advice for festival-goers attending TRNSMT in the sweltering heat, Mr Pritchard said: 'Just peace and love, you know, and stop crying. Peace and Love and sun cream.'
Mr Harris added: 'Make sure you slip that slop on each other's backs, that bit in the middle that gets no attention. Don't forget that bit. Electrolytes.'
The guitarist added that now more than ever, events like TRNSMT were needed: 'There's a frisson to it.
'It's people coming together – that's what festivals are for.
'People having a good time and being as one, feeling as one in quite an isolated time at the minute.
'So we need spaces like this for people.'

How Hull's Craven Park is being transformed for Coldplay

Mats Hummels' ex-wife complains their son, 7, 'wasn't invited' to his farewell match - while he celebrated with stunning model girlfriend 10 years his junior
Mats Hummels ex-wife has claimed the couple's seven-year-old son was unaware of his father's farewell match for Borussia Dortmund. Hummels, who left Dortmund at the end of the 2023-24 season, returned to the club for a farewell match on Sunday. A total of 80,000 fans were present at the Signal Iduna Park for a friendly between Dortmund and Juventus. Hummels captained the Bundesliga side for the opening 18 minutes of the match, which officially marked his retirement from professional football. The 36-year-old was cheered on by the crowd and his model girlfriend Nicola Cavanis, 26. The former defender, who made 508 appearances in all competitions for Dortmund, however was not joined by his son Ludwig at the match. His ex-wife Cathy shared a photo of their son on social media on the morning of the match, which featured a newspaper featuring Hummels and the headline 'Mats gut'. She wrote: 'Someone stole my cap and read about Dad's farewell in the newspaper. So he knows what it was like'. In a follow-up message later in the day, Cathy confirmed that she had been unaware of Hummel's farewell match and claimed she had only discovered it when reading the newspaper. Instead, Cathy confirmed that she was on holiday with Ludwig at Lake Chiemsee in Bavaria. 'To clarify: We are not intentionally missing Mats Hummels' final game. I put my son an extra newspaper so he can read everything,' she wrote. 'The reason we are NOT there is simply gone: We were NOT invited or knew about it. We are now enjoying our wonderful vacation with the family again. 'Goodbye Aussenrist 15. Congratulations on your remarkable career.' Hummels reportedly declined to comment when contacted by BILD for a response to his ex-wife's claim. Cathy had previously claimed in an interview with the Germany newspaper that she was 'raising my son more or less on my own'. Hummels had split with his ex-wife in 2022 following seven years of marriage. A year later Hummels went public with his new girlfriend Cavanis, who has earned fame by modelling for the likes of Nivea, Puma, Victoria's Secret, MCM, New Yorker and Tchibo. Hummels had represented Dortmund in two spells, with the defender initially playing for the club between 2009 and 2016, before moving to Bayern Munich. He returned for a second spell between 2019 and 2024, with the latter ending after an alleged bust-up with then manager Edin Terzic after the Champions League final last year. Hummels then had a season in Serie A with Roma, before the veteran defender opted to retire this summer. He claimed five Bundesliga titles during his career, two with Dortmund and three with Bayern, along with three German Cups and five Super Cups.

Dudley Zoo thanks public after escaped barn owl found
A barn owl that escaped from Dudley Zoo has been who flew from the castle courtyard last week during a birds of prey display, was found in Silver Jubilee Park in Coseley on Sunday. The zoo posted thanked the public for their help after thousands of people shared the story of Echo's departure online. It said the team retrieved her from the park following a positive sighting from a member of the public. Barn owls have a distinctive heart-shaped white face, white chest and a mottled grey and golden back and zoo wrote: "A huge thank you to the thousands of you who shared her story over the last few days and kept your eyes peeled for our lovely owl - we couldn't have done it without your help."
