Priyamani about body image and weight struggle
It's not often that an actor manages to carve a space for themselves across industries, languages, and styles—but Priyamani has done just that. From winning hearts in the South with powerhouse performances in films like Paruthiveeran, Thirakkatha, and Chaarulatha, to holding her own alongside Bollywood heavyweights like Shah Rukh Khan in Jawan and Manoj Bajpayee in The Family Man, the National Award-winning actress has shown that talent speaks louder than borders. With her recent role in Article 370, she's once again proved her versatility and staying power. While Priyamani's onscreen journey has been seamless, transitioning between industries came with its own set of surprises. In a candid moment, the actress opened up about the behind-the-scenes contrast between South Indian cinema and Bollywood. 'The working style is mostly the same—barring the language, the director, the producer, and your co-stars. But one thing that really stood out to me was punctuality,' she revealed.According to Priyamani, South film sets are sticklers for time. 'If the call time is 8:00 AM, we start rolling at 8:00. Everyone is on set by 6:30 or 6:45, hair and makeup is done, and we're ready to go. You don't waste time—it's all very disciplined.'Bollywood, on the other hand, took some adjusting to. 'Here, if the call time says 8:00, that's when people start arriving on location. Initially, it was a shock to me. I'd be ready by 6:30, only to be told, 'Madam, people get here at 8:00. No need to come so early.''Despite the cultural shift, Priyamani took the change in stride. 'I had to learn the hard way, but now I'm used to both. Even now, if the call time is 8:00 AM, I'll reach by 7:30 or 7:45.'In the same interview, Priyamani opened up about her experience with body image in the spotlight. While she never felt pressured to look a certain way, there was a time when she gained significant weight—around 64–65 kilos—due to an internal health issue. Though it wasn't visible on screen then, she realized it later and began a weight loss journey after consulting several doctors. Fortunately, people around her were accepting of her appearance. However, after losing a lot of weight, some—including her family—felt she looked too thin. Still, she felt happy seeing herself on screen and adjusted things in her own way.

‘Shah Rukh Khan and I hit it off immediately': Netflix CEO Ted Sarandos on his equation with the Bollywood star

Netflix co-CEO Ted Sarandos opened up about his friendship with Bollywood star Shah Rukh Khan. In an interview with Nikhil Kamath, Ted talked about how Shah Rukh was one of the first celebrities he met as soon as he came to India before the release of the OTT platform's first Indian series, Sacred Games, in 2018. (Also Read: Ed Sheeran drops new song Sapphire with desi beats, Arijit Singh vocals. All Shah Rukh Khan fans care about is his cameo) Ted was asked to name an Indian celebrity who's his 'favourite' and he said that he shares a good equation with Shah Rukh. He recollected, 'Early in coming to India, I met Shah Rukh Khan right away. He hosted a very nice dinner for me, and we hit it off immediately. I've come back since, with my wife, and we've had nice times together. We visited each other in Los Angeles when his son was in school. So, having dinner with Shah Rukh Khan in India is much different than having dinner with him in Los Angeles.' Shah Rukh's son Aryan Khan's The Ba***ds of Bollywood will soon drop on Netflix. In the same interview, Ted mentioned that he was also bowled over by Sanjay Leela Bhansali and his 2024 show Heeramandi, which he says felt like a 'dare'. He said, 'Doing Heeramandi was probably one of the most creatively interesting projects I've ever worked on in India. He (Sanjay Leela Bhansali) came in with his very big vision, almost like it was a dare. I dare you to make this, it's so big. And remember, he's a cinema legend. So, the idea that he was gonna make a TV show is almost unheard of. I think he came for us to say no. And when we said yes, it was a complicated production.' Shah Rukh was last seen in the 2023 films Pathaan, Jawan and Dunki. He is now shooting for King, with director Siddharth Anand, his daughter Suhana Khan, and Abhishek Bachchan as his co-stars.

Deepika Padukone joins Allu Arjun-Atlee's ‘AA22xA6' in a fierce warrior avatar

Deepika Padukone has officially boarded Atlee's upcoming sci-fi action spectacle, tentatively titled AA22xA6, which stars Allu Arjun in the lead. The announcement was made by Sun Pictures with an electrifying promo video that unveiled Deepika's character in a never-seen-before avatar, sparking major excitement among fans. This marks Deepika's first collaboration with Allu Arjun and her second with director Atlee, following their recent teaming in Jawan. The promo showcases Deepika as a formidable warrior set in a fantasy-sci-fi universe. Clad in a futuristic battle suit and wielding a sword, she's seen riding a CGI-rendered horse, with motion capture sensors suggesting heavy VFX integration. Her look hints at a physically demanding and action-heavy role, adding a new dimension to her filmography. Director Atlee is reportedly experimenting with elaborate character designs and visuals, using blue-mat set technology to craft the film's distinct aesthetic. The ambitious project is being mounted as a pan-India blockbuster, combining large-scale action with science fiction. It also marks Sun Pictures' debut collaboration with a Telugu superstar, highlighting the film's expansive vision. Deepika's casting comes on the heels of her recent exit from Sandeep Reddy Vanga's Spirit, which had sparked speculation. While some reports cited her high remuneration demands, others linked it to her desire for lighter schedules after embracing motherhood. Regardless, her entry into AA22xA6 has shifted attention, reinforcing her star power in the pan-India space, especially following her role in Kalki 2898 AD.
