Digitisation of ancient scriptures to
Varanasi (Uttar Pradesh) [India], June 27 (ANI): Maharashtra Deputy Chief Minister Eknath Shinde on Friday inaugurated Shastra Sangrahalaya and Research Centre in Uttar Pradesh's Varanasi and stated that the digitisation of ancient scripture that remains part of India's culture would help preserve the country's heritage and would contribute to its betterment.
'This Shastra Sangrahalaya Research Centre is a matter of pride for us. Our Vedas, culture, and ancient scriptures have been digitised here to make our new generation aware of them and to preserve our heritage. This will further contribute to the betterment of the country. Our Prime Minister wants to make India a 'Vishwaguru'. In this, this centre will be of great value to our Vedas and scriptures,' Shinde told reporters here.
He credited several personalities who have pushed for such works, including Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh (RSS) chief Mohan Bhagwat and Sangh member Bhujang Bobade. The Maharashtra Deputy CM announced that a similar centre would be established in Thane district.
'Bhujang Bobade of RSS gave priority to this work. I thank him and also Mohan Bhagwat that this happened under his guidance... In Maharashtra, also, our Vedas and scriptures will be digitised in every district. A big centre will also be opened in Thane,' Shinde said.
Speaking on the recent remarks made by Maharashtra Samajwadi Party (SP) president Abu Azmi, where he compared the Warkari movement to people from the Muslim community offering Namaz on roads, Shinde said, 'Opposing Sanatan is an extremely unfortunate act... I strongly condemn anyone doing this.'
Azmi's remarks sparked a major controversy, after which he issued an apology on Monday, clarifying that his intentions were only to highlight that minorities should not feel that there are separate laws for them in the country.
'My statement was distorted and presented in a malicious manner. If this has hurt the religious sentiments of the Warkari community, I completely retract my words and seek forgiveness. My intention was never to offend anyone's religious sentiments,' Azmi posted on X.
'My only intention was to draw the government's attention to the fact that its double standards should not create a feeling in the minority community that there are separate laws for them in this country - whereas our country's Prime Minister Narendra Modi himself says, 'Together with all, development for all, and trust of all',' he added. RSS-BJP don't want Constitution, but Manusmriti: Rahul Gandhi
New Delhi [India], June 27 (ANI): Congress leader and Lok Sabha Leader of the Opposition (LoP) Rahul Gandhi on Friday came down heavily on the Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh (RSS), saying that it doesn't want the Constitution but the Manusmriti. Intensifying his attack, Gandhi said that RSS intended to violate the rights of the marginalised and the poor while enslaving them. 'The mask of RSS has come off again,' he added. 'RSS-BJP doesn't want the Constitution. They want Manusmriti. They aim to strip the marginalised and the poor of their rights and enslave them again. Snatching a powerful weapon like the Constitution from them is their real agenda,' the Congress leader posed on X. 'The Constitution irks them because it speaks of equality, secularism, and justice,' he added. Gandhi asserted that Congress would resist the dreams of RSS to 'snatch' the constitution from the marginalised and the poor. 'RSS should stop dreaming this dream - we will never let them succeed. Every patriotic Indian will defend the Constitution until their last breath,' he said. His remarks come after RSS general secretary Dattatreya Hosabale suggested reconsidering the inclusion of the terms 'socialist' and 'secular' in the Preamble of the Indian Constitution. Hosabale was addressing a program on the 50th anniversary of the emergency, held at the Dr Ambedkar International Centre, jointly organised by the Indira Gandhi National Centre for the Arts (under the Ministry of Culture) and the Ambedkar International Centre. Speaking at the event, he emphasised that the emergency wasn't just a misuse of power but an attempt to crush civil liberties. Millions were imprisoned, and freedom of the press was suppressed. He said that those who imposed the emergency and trampled the constitution and democracy have never apologised. If they cannot apologise personally, they should do so on behalf of their ancestors. He remarked that during the emergency, terms like 'socialist' and 'secular' were forcibly inserted into the Constitution -- a move that needs to be reconsidered. Meanwhile, Karnataka Chief Minister Siddaramaiah today said that Hosabale's suggestion was not a 'casual remark' but a 'long-standing agenda' to reshape the country's democracy. However, Union Minister Jitendra Singh defended Hosabale, stating that any 'right-thinking person' would endorse such a demand, as these terms were not part of the original Constitution. 'Any right-thinking citizen will endorse it because everyone knows they are not part of the original constitution, which Dr Ambedkar and the rest of the committee wrote. This is not the question of BJP vs is a matter of preserving democratic and constitutional values, and those violating the constitution are actually the biggest violators,' Singh told reporters here. He pointed out that 'secular and socialist' were added after the 42nd amendment to the constitution, which means that it was not Dr Ambedkar who thought of including these terms. (ANI)

New Delhi [India], June 27 (ANI): The first meeting of the Standing Committee of the Municipal Corporation of Delhi (MCD) was held on Friday at the Civic Centre, New Delhi, under the chairpersonship of Satya Sharma, Chairperson, Standing Committee, a press release said. After the meeting, Satya Sharma informed the media that each member of the Standing Committee actively participated in the discussions and raised several important issues concerning citizens' welfare. Along with this, there was a positive discussion regarding the preparations of the MCD for the monsoon, and all the members put forward their suggestions. She said that the MCD Commissioner has assured that this year more work has been done as compared to last year and new pumps have been installed, groups have been created through WhatsApp on which updates will be available continuously and it has been ensured that the helpline numbers work smoothly in all the zones of the corporation. The committee deliberated extensively on various agenda items. She further stated that the concerned officials have been directed to resolve all raised issues at the earliest and to present an Action Taken Report (ATR) in the next meeting of the Standing Committee. Highlighting the outcomes, the Chairperson informed that approximately 25 agenda items were passed during this first meeting, marking a productive and decisive beginning of the Committee's tenure. Along with this, the 10 per cent rebate on property tax has been extended till July 31. The meeting reflects MCD's commitment to transparency, responsiveness, and proactive governance for the benefit of Delhi's citizens. (ANI)

Gandhinagar (Gujarat) [India], June 27 (ANI): Union Home Minister Amit Shah on Friday visited Information and Library Network Centre (INFLIBNET), Gandhinagar and conducted a review meeting for the development of libraries and called the library a primary centre for learning about education, culture, and history. In a post on X, Amit Shah said, The library is a primary centre for learning about education, culture, and history.' 'Today, I visited the Information and Library Network (INFLIBNET) centre located in my Lok Sabha constituency, Gandhinagar, and reviewed the development of libraries. Through INFLIBNET, libraries are being continuously developed by integrating them with cutting-edge technologies, enabling them to also serve as support centres for curious children in the field of R&D. Additionally, the mobile app of 'Sastu Sahitya Vardhak Karyalaya' was launched. This app will prove to be very useful for book lovers in obtaining their favourite books,' he added. Amit Shah also planted a sapling at the premises. Eralier, Amit Shah offered prayers at the over 400-year-old Jagannath Temple in Ahmedabad on the occasion of Rath Yatra.
