SRH vs KKR Live Score, IPL 2025: Kolkata Knight Riders, Sunrisers Hyderabad aim to finish on a high

Time of India25-05-2025

SRH vs KKR Live Score, IPL 2025: The final fixture of IPL 2024 is back at the business end of IPL 2025 — but this time, the stakes are low. With both Sunrisers Hyderabad (SRH) and Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) out of the playoff race, Sunday's clash at the Arun Jaitley Stadium in Delhi is all about salvaging pride and ending a disappointing campaign on a winning note.
SRH came into this season with high hopes, especially after their explosive batting displays led them to a runners-up finish in 2024. However, their firepower fizzled out in 2025. The batting failed to replicate last year's heroics, and the bowling unit never truly hit its stride. As a result, the "sun" barely rose on their campaign.
Still, Hyderabad carry a bit of momentum into this clash, having crushed Royal Challengers Bengaluru by 42 runs in Lucknow — a win that dented RCB's top-two hopes. Ishan Kishan and Eshan Malinga starred in that victory, and with SRH having more recent match practice than KKR — who last played on May 7 against CSK — that could make a difference.
The Arun Jaitley pitch is expected to be a batting paradise, which suits SRH's power-hitters like Travis Head, Abhishek Sharma, Kishan, Heinrich Klaasen, and Aniket Verma. If they fire, fans could witness a run-fest that leaves KKR chasing shadows.
KKR, meanwhile, have endured a season to forget. After winning their third title in 2024, they entered 2025 as defending champions but never lived up to that billing. A poor home record, inconsistent performances, and an unsettled batting order plagued their campaign. Controversy surrounding their home pitch curator Sujan Mukherjee didn't help either.
Their batting lacked cohesion — frequent changes at the top, a misfiring middle order, and a fragile death-over strategy made it hard for the team to build momentum. The bowling has been average at best, offering little support to turn things around.
Still, KKR can take solace from their earlier win in Delhi and may look to end their forgettable campaign with a final flourish. A win here won't change the table, but it could help restore some pride and give them something to build on for IPL 2026.

‘Thought long and hard…': Nicholas Pooran retires from international cricket at 29

Former West Indies T20I captain Nicholas Pooran made a surprise decision on Tuesday as he announced his retirement from international cricket, aged 29. Pooran, who was recently in action in the IPL 2025 season with the Lucknow Super Giants, mentioned the decision as a 'difficult' one as he shared a note on Instagram. 'To the Cricket Public: After much thought and reflection, I've decided to announce my retirement from International Cricket. This game we love has given and will continue to give so much – joy, purpose, unforgettable memories, and a chance to represent the people of the West Indies. Wearing that maroon, standing for the anthem, and giving everything I had each time I stepped on the field… it's hard to put into words what that truly means to me,' Pooran wrote. The hard-hitting southpaw made his West Indies debut in 2016 and became the team's most capped T20I batter (106) and the highest run-scorer for the side (2275). In only 97 innings, Pooran has smashed 149 T20I sixes, the best for the West Indies and fifth-highest overall. Having amassed over 4000 runs in international cricket, Pooran led the Windies outfit in 17 ODIs and 23 T20Is between 2021 and 2022. From a young boy with a dream to wear the Maroon, to a global star inspiring millions — WI thank you, Nicky P. 🙏🏽 — Windies Cricket (@windiescricket) June 9, 2025 'To have led the team as captain is a privilege I will always hold close to my heart. To the fans – thank you for your unwavering love. You lifted me in the tough moments and celebrated the good ones with unmatched passion. To my family, friends, and teammates, thank you for walking this journey with me. Your belief and support carried me through it all. Though this International chapter of my career closes, my love for West Indies Cricket will never fade. I wish the team and the region nothing but success and strength for the road ahead,' Pooran added. Pooran recently topped the six-hitting charts in the IPL season with 40 maximums, and remains one of the most feared ball-strikers in the franchise circuit. Pooran only follows his Caribbean compatriots Chris Gayle, Kieron Pollard and Andre Russell in the T20 sixes charts, with a staggering 639 sixes in 398 appearances.

The 25-year-old right-handed batter from Mumbai, who went unsold in the IPL 2025 mega auctions last year, hammered 75 runs from just 34 balls for North Mumbai Panthers in the T20 Mumbai match played against Triumphs Knights MNE on Sunday, June 8. Shaw opened the innings for North Mumbai Panthers at the Dr DY Patil Sports Academy in Navi Mumbai and smacked 12 fours and three sixes during his stay at the crease. He added 62 runs for the second wicket with Arjun Jaiswal (9 from 12 balls) and 30 runs for the third wicket with Harshal Jadhav (46 runs from 30 balls) before being sent back to the pavilion by Suryansh Shedge on the fifth ball of the 10th over. Shaw, who has played five Tests, six ODIs and one T20I for India since making his international debut against the West Indies in October 2018, overall has 137 runs to his name in five matches played so far in T20 Mumbai 2025. Shaw's team finished fourth in the league stage and will now face SoBo Mumbai Falcons in the second semifinal match of T20 Mumbai on June 10 at Wankhede Stadium in Mumbai. Tired of too many ads? go ad free now "We have the ingredients to be champions. But temperament, not just talent, decides the outcome. If we handle pressure well, we'll be right in the race. Our aim is clear—we're playing to lift the trophy," said Venkatesh Iyer, as he prepares to lead Indore Pink Panthers. With a refreshed squad and a focused strategy, the team is looking to make a strong impact in the tournament, scheduled to be held in Gwalior from June 12 to 24. Iyer, India all-rounder and KKR vice-captain in IPL 2025, takes over as captain from Rajat Patidar in what marks a new chapter for the team. "The basic plan is always to win," Iyer told TOI. "But I've played enough cricket to understand that in a tournament like this, success comes from taking one game at a time. My first priority is to ensure every player aligns their personal goals with the team's larger mission." Calling it a "special honour" to lead his hometown team, Iyer said, "For any cricketer, it's a dream to play in front of packed stadiums. MPL has become a platform that allows young cricketers from across the state to live that dream. " This season brings a near-complete overhaul of the Panthers' line-up, with only three players retained from the previous edition. IPL pacer Kulwant Khejroliya (Gujarat Titans) has joined the squad, adding firepower to the bowling unit. The franchise has also introduced emerging talents like all-rounder Siddhant Agarwal and wicketkeeper-batter Mehfooz Patel, both nurtured through the team's Player Development Program in collaboration with MPL. Tired of too many ads? go ad free now Talking about Madhya Pradesh's cricketing rise, Iyer credited the growing seriousness around domestic cricket. "Today, teams take us seriously. The mindset in Ranji and Mushtaq Ali tournaments is to win. A lot of that shift is thanks to Chandrakant Pandit sir's leadership and discipline. MP cricket is no longer underestimated."
