Leonardo DiCaprio admitted his "regret" over turning down Mark Wahlberg's role in Boogie Nights in a new interview with Paul Thomas Anderson for Esquire
"It was a profound movie of my generation," he said, calling the film "a masterpiece"
DiCaprio's Basketball Diaries costar Wahlberg went on to land the part of Eddie Adams/Dirk Diggler, and DiCaprio said he "can't imagine anyone [else]" nowLeonardo DiCaprio "can't imagine anyone but" Mark Wahlberg in Boogie Nights, but he still regrets not starring in the classic film.
Wahlberg, 54, famously played Eddie Adams/Dirk Diggler in the 1997 Paul Thomas Anderson film, but the part was originally offered to DiCaprio, 50, who turned it down as he had already signed on to star in James Cameron's epic Titanic.
But in a new interview with Anderson for Esquire's Mavericks of Hollywood issue ahead of the release of their movie One Battle After Another, DiCaprio told the director, 55, "I'll say it even though you're here: My biggest regret is not doing Boogie Nights."
"It was a profound movie of my generation," he continued. "I can't imagine anyone but Mark in it. When I finally got to see that movie, I just thought it was a masterpiece. It's ironic that you're the person asking that question, but it's true."

Boogie Nights takes place in the 1970s and follows Wahlberg's Eddie, a teenage nightclub dishwasher, after he is discovered by filmmaker Jack Horner (Burt Reynolds) and becomes a wildly successful porn star named Dirk Diggler.
The movie also starred Julianne Moore, Heather Graham, Don Cheadle, John C. Reilly, William H. Macy and Philip Seymour Hoffman.
As for Wahlberg and DiCaprio, the two worked together both before and after Boogie Nights: in The Basketball Diaries (1995) and The Departed (2006).
Wahlberg opened up about the pair's rocky start before filming The Basketball Diaries in a 2018 interview with Extra, admitting they "both had a specific opinion about each other" initially.
'Once I finally got to the point where I was able to audition and read with [DiCaprio], then we just both kinda looked at each other, we were like, 'Wow!' We were literally out that night and we became fast friends," he added.
DiCaprio and Anderson finally get to team up with One Battle After Another, which stars the Oscar winner as Bob Ferguson, a former revolutionary figure who is being hunted by Sean Penn's police character, Steven Lockjaw.
Written and directed by Anderson, the action-thriller also stars Teyana Taylor, Wood Harris, Alana Haim, Regina Hall, Benicio del Toro and Chase Infiniti.

In his chat with Anderson for Esquire, DiCaprio addressed how One Battle After Another "has been on" the director's "desk for a long time," adding, "It was a personal story for you in a lot of ways and certainly pertinent to the world that we're living in right now."
"But ultimately, wanting to do this movie was pretty simple: I've been wanting to work with you — Paul — for something like 20 years now," DiCaprio continued, "and I loved this idea of the washed-up revolutionary trying to erase his past and disappear and try and live some sort of normal life raising his daughter.
One Battle After Another is in theaters Sept. 26.

Check out Bills QB Josh Allen in the newest Snickers commercials

Buffalo Bills quarterback and reigning NFL MVP Josh Allen continues to see his star grow off the field. This week, the candy bar brand Snickers released its newest ads in its long-running "you're not you when you're hungry" campaign. And they feature a familiar face. In the first commercial entitled "Bedtime", Allen, who was announced as a spokesman for the candy company in June, is seen while in full uniform and pads and sitting in a racecar bed, reading bedtime stories peppered with fantasy football references by a hungry father. A second commercial for Snickers ice cream, called 'Construction,' features Allen as a construction worker chatting with another worker on the construction site who's distracted thinking about the Bills' next game. An offering of a Snickers proves to be the remedy in both cases. Fans can watch both commercials via social media, on YouTube, streaming and digital, social media, and on broadcast TV channels through the end of the upcoming NFL season. In addition to the commercials, Allen is featured on limited-edition Snickers and Snickers ice cream packs. The Bills quarterback will also be sharing halftime hacks on the candy bar's website. Buffalo's star quarterback will share 'hunger-busting tips' starting on September 4. Snickers will be offering chances to win prizes along with the halftime hacks, including a trip to Super Bowl LX. 'I've always been a fan of Snickers, so putting my name – and my game – on these packs is a win,' said Allen this summer in a partnership promotional statement with Snickers. 'Whether you're taking the field or taking your fantasy line-up to victory, Snickers has your back when hunger strikes.' The MVP is featured on the wrappers of limited-edition Snickers and Snickers ice cream bars, and will be sharing "halftime hacks" and 'hunger-busting tips' starting on September 4th on the brand's website. Snickers will offer chances to win prizes, including a trip to Super Bowl LX. Which Bills fans hope the QB will star in as well. The Ending of And Just Like That Was… Just Right, Actually

The following article contains spoilers for And Just Like That season three episode 12. Carrie Bradshaw has finally found her third great love. No, it's not a sardonic English Thatcherite who lives downstairs. Nor is it an insecure countryphile chopping wood in Virginia. And it's definitely not a recovering fuckboy who's busy haunting the founder of Peloton from the depths of hell. As we discovered in the series finale of And Just Like That, Carrie's soulmate is none other than herself. And a pumpkin pie. Fellow Sex and the City fans will already know that this is the last we'll see of Carrie. On August 1, Sarah Jessica Parker and Michael Patrick King announced that the SATC universe would be ending with this season of AJLT, news that sparked an overwhelming medley of feelings not unlike the five stages of grief: denial (but Lisa's dad hasn't come back to life again!), anger (Anthony has completely forgotten about Stanford!), bargaining (Maybe Socrates is an acceptable dog's name), depression (I miss Duncan), and finally, acceptance (we didn't care about Charlotte's vertigo, anyway). Online sleuths aren't buying it, and even King himself has suggested that ending the show here wasn't strictly the plan. Regardless, it's time to say our goodbyes. And in a twist none of us were expecting, we can do so peacefully with the knowledge that Carrie has ended up in exactly the right place: dancing on her own in her OTT home in an even more OTT outfit—a fuchsia sequin cardigan paired with a tulle skirt that fans will instantly recognize as a nod to her famous white tutu. To be clear, this is not a sad state of affairs. Quite the opposite! As a character who has perennially been defined by her pursuit of men, Carrie concluding the series as a single woman feels like a bold and deeply refreshing choice. Of course, living happily without a romantic partner shouldn't be seen as a radical act, particularly not in 2025. And yet, as AJLT points out by way of the rather creepy doll placed opposite Carrie when she dares to go out for dinner on her own in the finale, single women are still treated like broken parts that need to be put back together again, especially if they have the audacity to age beyond 27.

Taylor Swift Appearance On 'New Heights' Hits Half A Billion Views

Taylor Swift captivated the Internet on Wednesday as she made an appearance on the 'New Heights' football podcast and generated over half a billion video views across social media platforms, easily one of the largest launches ever for a podcast episode. The full podcast episode on YouTube generated 13 million views (and counting) alone, surpassing the prior podcast episode record for 'New Heights.' Additionally, Swift's appearance produced 379 million video views on Instagram and 61.6 million views on X, while TikTok saw 34.5 million views. Threads had 1.1 million. The viewership figures, provided to me by media analytics firm Mondo Metrics, included official clips, the full show on YouTube and short-form edits posted on the 'New Heights' handles across different platforms. Mondo Metrics compiled the data from the podcast's first teaser promotion on early Tuesday to 5 p.m. ET on Thursday. Swift spoke with Kansas City Chiefs tight end and boyfriend, Travis Kelce, and his brother and former NFL offensive lineman, Jason Kelce, for two hours. The 35-year-old discussed her new album 'The Life of a Showgirl,' reclaiming control over her master recordings, the Eras Tour, her newfound love in football and more. 'It's a watershed moment,' said Nick Cicero, Founder of Mondo Metrics, which works with sports and entertainment entities like the Arizona Cardinals, the UFL and Men in Blazers. 'Swift could have chosen a late-night TV show or a magazine cover, but she chose an athlete-driven sports podcast. That tells you 'New Heights' has become more than a football show, it's a cultural stage. 'That should end the tired audio vs. video debate. The audience will go where the experience is best. In this case, the visual format amplified the entertainment value because Taylor is a visual artist.' Cicero told me that the biggest standout video platform for him was YouTube, which accumulated 20.4 million views as of Thursday afternoon. At one point, there were around 1.3 million concurrent viewers on YouTube during the two hour live stream. The 'New Heights' channel on YouTube also recently surpassed three million subscribers following the podcast episode. 'A significant portion of those viewers were watching on a big screen in their living room, the same way they'd watch a Diane Sawyer interview or a primetime special with a world leader,' noted Cicero, adding that Facebook Reels proved to be 'a surprise powerhouse' for the episode, totaling 51.4 million views. For many years, podcasters first wanted your ears, but now they want your eyes, too. Cicero shared that we've passed the novelty stage of video podcasting in the sports industry. Shows now reach mainstream distribution, compete with sports talk television and in some ways, are full-blown TV shows in 2025. For example, sports personality Pat McAfee has a reported $85 million licensing deal with ESPN to have his YouTube show aired across the network's platforms. 'Shows like 'New Heights,' 'Club Shay Shay' and 'The Pat McAfee Show' aren't just building audiences, they're building media channels that rival cable networks in influence,' Cicero said. On the Taylor Swift social video views, Cicero added, 'If you're a sports TV executive, these numbers should keep you up at night.'
