OPEN// Egypt rejects Israeli plans to displace Palestinians, warns of legal and regional consequences
It condemned all forms of displacement, including those carried out through policies of starvation, land confiscation, settlement expansion, or by making life unlivable for Palestinians in their own land.
In a statement issued on Sunday, the foreign ministry expressed Egypt's deep concern over recent reports suggesting that Israel has held consultations with certain countries regarding the potential resettlement of Palestinian refugees from Gaza. The ministry criticized these discussions as part of a broader, rejected Israeli strategy to depopulate Palestinian territories and undermine the Palestinian cause.
Egypt emphasized that it will not accept, support, or participate in any plans that involve the displacement of Palestinians, calling such proposals a historic injustice that lacks any moral or legal legitimacy.
The statement urged the international community—particularly peace-supporting nations—to reject complicity in such an "immoral and illegal crime" that would violate the principles of international humanitarian law, constitute a war crime, and amount to ethnic cleansing. It further noted such actions would blatantly breach the four Geneva Conventions.
Finally, Egypt warned of the grave historical and legal consequences that would befall any party involved in or facilitating such displacement. It also stressed the potential for far-reaching political repercussions across the region and beyond if such policies were to proceed. (MENA)

Egyptian Sources: Proposal Includes 60-Day Truce in Gaza
Ahmed Emam Egyptian sources have outlined the main points of a proposal aimed at halting the conflict in Gaza for 60 days, AlQahera News reported on Monday. According to the sources, the initiative calls for a temporary cessation of military operations, alongside the redeployment of Israeli forces to areas near the border. The move is intended to facilitate the entry of humanitarian aid in volumes that meet the needs of the population in Gaza. The proposal also includes an exchange of prisoners and captives. A number of Palestinian detainees would be released in return for half of the Israelis currently held in Gaza. In addition, the plan envisions the release of 10 Israeli hostages alive, as well as the transfer of 18 bodies — half the total of 36 Israelis reported dead. The sources added that negotiations on a broader agreement or permanent ceasefire would begin on the first day of the truce. Egypt has been playing a central role in mediation efforts, aiming to de-escalate the conflict and create conditions for a lasting settlement. read more Gold prices rise, 21 Karat at EGP 3685 NATO's Role in Israeli-Palestinian Conflict US Expresses 'Strong Opposition' to New Turkish Military Operation in Syria Shoukry Meets Director-General of FAO Lavrov: confrontation bet. nuclear powers must be avoided News Iran Summons French Ambassador over Foreign Minister Remarks News Aboul Gheit Condemns Israeli Escalation in West Bank News Greek PM: Athens Plays Key Role in Improving Energy Security in Region News One Person Injured in Explosion at Ukrainian Embassy in Madrid Videos & Features Story behind Trending Jessica Radcliffe Death Video News Israeli-Linked Hadassah Clinic in Moscow Treats Wounded Iranian IRGC Fighters Arts & Culture "Jurassic World Rebirth" Gets Streaming Date News China Launches Largest Ever Aircraft Carrier News Ayat Khaddoura's Final Video Captures Bombardment of Beit Lahia Business Egyptian Pound Undervalued by 30%, Says Goldman Sachs Videos & Features Tragedy Overshadows MC Alger Championship Celebration: One Fan Dead, 11 Injured After Stadium Fall Arts & Culture South Korean Actress Kang Seo-ha Dies at 31 after Cancer Battle Lifestyle Get to Know 2025 Eid Al Adha Prayer Times in Egypt News The Jessica Radcliffe Orca Attack? 100% Fake and AI-Generated

Israelis protest for hostage deal amid growing pressure on Netanyahu
Mass protests demanding an end to the war in Gaza and a hostage exchange deal took place in Tel Aviv on Sunday night, amid Israeli media reports that the option of a 'partial deal' with Hamas remains under consideration due to mounting public pressure on Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu. The protests followed demonstrations in several Israeli cities earlier in the day, where participants called for an agreement to secure the release of hostages. Protesters carried Israeli flags and photos of the captives, with some blocking main streets and highways. The Hostages and Missing Families Forum said that 'around 500,000 people gathered on Sunday evening in Hostages Square and the surrounding streets in Tel Aviv to demand a deal for the release of the hostages in Gaza.' According to the Times of Israel, hundreds of protesters also gathered outside the headquarters of Netanyahu's Likud party, where they lit fires and clashed with police. Police forces prevented demonstrators from reaching the entrance to the building, while videos on social media showed violent scuffles between police and protesters, who were chanting slogans calling for the government's downfall. 'Partial deal with conditions' Amid the escalating protests, Israel's Channel 12 quoted an official as saying that Netanyahu has shown a willingness to consider a partial agreement with Hamas, which would include a temporary ceasefire and a hostage exchange. The channel reported that an Israeli official involved in the negotiations recently told hostage families that 'Israel is currently only seeking a comprehensive deal, but there are many outstanding issues regarding ending the war. If Hamas agrees to a partial deal on acceptable terms here, don't be surprised if the red line suddenly changes.' Separately, Channel 13 quoted a senior member of the Israeli negotiating team as saying that Netanyahu is prepared to discuss a 'phased deal,' noting that Qatar and Egypt are making efforts to revive the process. The reports contrast with a statement from Netanyahu's office on Saturday which stressed that Israel is only seeking a 'comprehensive deal' in which all hostages would be released at once. However, Channel 12 noted that a prominent opponent of any partial agreement is Strategic Affairs Minister Ron Dermer, who insists on obtaining clear guarantees from U.S. President Donald Trump regarding the terms of an agreement. According to the report, the objective is to secure a formal declaration from Trump within a month that would define the terms for a comprehensive end to the war, including the release of all hostages. The report suggested that if this pressure pushes Hamas to accept the terms, a large-scale military operation to take control of Gaza City could be avoided.

OPEN// Sisi stresses need for immediate Gaza reconstruction after ceasefire
CAIRO, Aug 18 (MENA) – President Abdel Fattah El Sisi on Monday called for the immediate start of Gaza's reconstruction once a ceasefire is in place, and for preparations to host an international donor conference in Cairo, in coordination with the Palestinian Authority and the United Nations. The remarks came during talks in Cairo with Qatari Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Sheikh Mohammed bin Abdulrahman bin Jassim Al Thani, attended by top intelligence and security officials from both sides. According to presidential spokesman Mohamed El-Shennawy, the two sides stressed their countries' joint efforts—alongside the U.S.—to secure a ceasefire in Gaza, ensure unhindered humanitarian aid flow, and facilitate the release of hostages and detainees. They reiterated rejection of any reoccupation of Gaza or forced displacement of Palestinians. Both sides reaffirmed support for a two-state solution based on international resolutions, with Al Quds (East Jerusalem) as the capital of a future Palestinian state. The spokesperson said both sides agreed on the need to intensify joint efforts to find political and peaceful solutions to regional crises, stressing respect for the sovereignty and territorial integrity of affected states, and the importance of continued Egypt-Qatar coordination to advance mutual interests and regional stability.
