City of Sacramento grants money to help renovate Marysville–Del Paso Boulevard
(FOX40.COM)– The city of Sacramento has awarded $600,000 in support of the Marysville–Del Paso Boulevard commercial corridor renovation initiatives.
Through the Forward Together Pilot Grant Program, 16 non-profits, businesses and individuals are set to receive funds as well.
City of Sacramento to expand active transportation network
'This grant funding represents our commitment to bringing back North Sacramento,' said Councilmember Roger Dickinson, who represents the area. 'This community-led effort will build strength and sustainability through economic revitalization, enhanced community well-being, displacement prevention, increased community engagement, long-term infrastructure investment and local business support.'
Managed by the Neighborhood Development Action Team, the program supports the enhancement of multiple projects including housing and community experiences.
Key projects include small business assistance, efforts to celebrate Del Paso Heights and all ages community events.

Former Stewartville home park community operator agrees to pay $135,000 in settlement
Jun. 12—ST. PAUL — The former owner and operator of a manufactured home park community in Stewartville agreed to pay $135,000 after facing allegations that it submitted false claims to the Minnesota Housing Finance Agency. The state alleged that Sun Communities, Inc. violated three counts of the Minnesota False Claims Act, an act that works to combat fraud against the government. The civil complaint, filed in March 2024, alleged that Sun Communities attempted to evict several tenants for not paying their rent. However, in these instances, Sun Communities received the tenants' payments through RentHelpMN, a federally funded program created after COVID-19 that provides financial support to help Minnesota families pay rent. According to the complaint, Sun Communities "repeatedly affirmed" that it would not evict tenants for not paying rent after receiving their rent payments through the program. RentHelpMN required landlords like Sun Communities to comply with the "statutory and regulatory prohibition on evicting tenants." The state alleged that Sun Communities applied RentHelpMN to pay for "unlawful late fees, pet fees" and other unauthorized fees. Hennepin County District Judge Susan Burke ordered that $33,824.09 of the $135,000 be paid as restitution, which will be credited to the Minnesota Housing Finance Agency. "What Sun Communities did was unlawful," Attorney General Keith Ellison said in a release. "The pandemic created economic hardship, so the government stepped up and helped struggling families make rent payments. It is disappointing that any property owner would accept those payments and then still try to evict their tenants. Today, we are holding one of those property owners accountable. I am grateful to the whistleblower who helped bring this wrongdoing to light, and I encourage other Minnesotans who believe government funds are being misused to contact my office." Downtown Panama City fuel dock to close this weekend
BAY COUNTY, Fla. (WMBB) – Panama City officials have decided to close the fuel dock at the downtown marina. The fueling station was originally part of the ship's store that had been open for decades. It was all destroyed during Hurricane Michael. The city rebuilt the fuel dock and reopened it on July 4th last year. It was closed during the winter and reopened this March. However, city officials say it hasn't made enough money to just pay the operational costs. They say they'd like to reopen if they can find a partnership to fit the situation. 'We're under negotiations. We're trying to come to an agreement for a P3 partnership at the marina for the slips. I think the slips will obviously help. They'll help drive some, you know, some of the people that houses their boats there will be more likely to fill up. Right now, we're just kind of winging it on a hope, and people drive by and want fuel,' PC Parks, Culture & Recreation Director Keith Mefford said. The fuel dock will close on June 15th.
