Fourth | SEKHUKHUNE UNITED
Sekhukhune improve but miss a bigger prize
Sekhukhune secured a second consecutive fourth-place finish in the Premiership, achieving their highest points tally in the top flight (46).
A strong start under coach Lehlohonolo Seema raised expectations, but he was controversially sacked mid-season and replaced by Eric Tinkler. Tinkler built well on Seema's foundation, but fell short of a Top 3 finish. However, his quick rapport with the players and the team's attractive football offer hope for the future.
The good and the bad: Sekhukhune gave players like Keletso Makgalwa a fresh start. However, the club's handling of right-back Shaun Mogaila — who played while facing serious criminal charges — drew widespread criticism. The sacking of Seema was poorly managed and cost the team vital momentum.
Star player: Keletso Makgalwa | Young Turk (best U23 player): Vuyo Letlapa | Sign him now: Keletso Makgalwa
What's to come: If Tinkler is backed in the transfer market and retains key players, Sekhukhune could aim for a Top 3 finish next season.

Third | STELLENBOSCH FC
Stellenbosch keep the African dream alive
Stellies securing their return to the CAF Confederation Cup. This season marked their first appearance in the competition, where they impressively reached the semi-finals.
They equalled their best-ever Premiership finish and navigated a packed schedule, playing in seven countries — including the DRC, Mali, Angola, Morocco, Egypt and Tanzania. A 3-0 win and 0-0 draw extended their unbeaten Cape Derby run against Cape Town City to nine matches, dating back to December 2020.
The good and the bad: Stellenbosch began the season with six consecutive wins in all competitions — a club first and won 13 matches in the Premiership. Their worst result was a 5-0 thrashing by Renaissance Berkane in January.
Star player: Fawaaz Basadien | Young Turk: Ibraheem Jabaar | Sign him now: Masindi Nemtajela
What's to come: They have the financial backing to become a real powerhouse in SA football and will want tokeep fighting in Africa.
Second | ORLANDO PIRATES
So close, yet so far for the Sea Robbers
After dominating domestic cup competitions for the last two seasons, Pirates were finally expected to knock Sundowns off their perch in the Premiership. They endured a nervy end to the campaign, their inexperience in the title race ultimately exposed as they fell short of the crown.
They also had a near-miss on the continent, losing to eventual champions Pyramids in the CAF Champions League semi-finals after a near-perfect group-stage campaign.
The side ended the season with only one trophy — the MTN8 — while coach Jose Riveiro requested an early release to join Al Ahly.
The good and the bad: Riveiro's integration of youngsters into the senior squad was a clear highlight. However, near-misses in both the Premiership and Champions League dashed the club's aspirations, rendering the season a failure.
Star player: Relebohile Mofokeng | Young Turk: Mbekezeli Mbokazi | Sign him now: Mohau Nkota
What's to come: With Pirates yet to announce a new coach, the club's direction remains uncertain.

Rival too late to hijack Kaizer Chiefs signing of Orlando Pirates star!

Kaizer Chiefs have reportedly wrapped up an agreement to sign a player recently released by arch rivals Orlando Pirates. Chiefs are looking to complete a couple of their signings before heading off to the Netherlands next month for preseason. Earlier on Tuesday, this publication reported that Chiefs had reached an agreement to sign Thabiso Monyane from Pirates . The move looks to have progressed very quickly with the player offered to Amakhosi just last week Friday. On Monday evening the reports moved to say the negotiations between both parties were advanced. The deal to sign Monyane seems to have been done right on the nick of time. This is because, according to Soccer-Laduma , Sekhukhune United were also interested in signing the right-back ahead of Chiefs! 'At just 25 years old, the talented player is already attracting interest from several PSL clubs, with Sekhukhune United understood to be expressing firm interest, while Kaizer Chiefs have also been linked to the player in recent reports. Sekhukhune are said to be keen on acquiring his services ahead of the 2025/26 season. The club, known for its ambitious recruitment strategy and strong defensive foundation, could offer Monyane the platform to regain form and rediscover the consistency that once earmarked him as one of South Africa's brightest defensive prospects. Meanwhile, a potential move to Kaizer Chiefs, a club currently in the midst of a squad overhaul, would not only keep Monyane in the spotlight but also add an extra layer of drama to Soweto Derby narratives.' Wrote the publication. Chiefs fans who wanted to see Monyane cross the floor from Pirates don't have anything to worry about though. The 25-year-old clearly had the preference to become a glamour boy and wrapped up a deal before Sekhukhune could hijack it. Chiefs fans, are you happy that Monyane chose your club instead of Sekhukhune? Let us know by clicking on the comment tab. Or by emailing info@ or sending a WhatsApp to 060 011 021 1. Kaizer Chiefs questioned for signing 31-year-old

A new left-back is expected to be announced by Kaizer Chiefs. It is none other than Paseka Mako of Orlando Pirates fame. The Buccaneers bid farewell to the 31-year-old Mako before news emerged that he is moments away from signing for Betway Premiership giants and bitter rivals Kaizer Chiefs. Former Orlando Pirates full-back Innocent Makoya has thrown heavy questions towards Kaizer Chiefs for the decision. Teko sends honest transfer message to Orlando Pirates boss 'Looking at the contribution rate that Paseka has done in the past and the presence, looking at the direction Pirates is going, his contribution is very low,' Chikoya told KickOff. 'If your contribution is 50% low, age is not on your side, the chances of you being offloaded are high,' the former Buccaneer said. 'Jimmy Tau left Pirates for Kaizer Chiefs when he was at his best. Arthur Zwane did the same when he was at his best. Hence, they did well. But besides those two, who else left Pirates, especially with age not on their side and did well at Chiefs? 'If I sign a 31-year-old he should be a player that is getting game time as I'm looking for experience. If, at his age, Paseka has been consistently playing week in and week out, he could have been a great signing for Kaizer Chiefs. Former Orlando Pirates defender Paseka Mako at the DHL Stadium in a Betway Premiership match against Cape Town City FC. Image: Sowetan Kaizer Chiefs to sign and announce Polievka? 'But if you have not been playing and you go to a bigger team that is trying to overtake Mamelodi Sundowns and Orlando Pirates…it's a tough one for Paseka. Remember, Chiefs and Pirates right now, all they want is to dethrone Sundowns. 'But you can't dethrone Sundowns if you are signing 31-year-olds while Sundowns are busy bringing in the likes of 24-year-old Jayden Adams. The players Sundowns are bringing in still have like seven years of professional football ahead of them. 'You look at Pirates, the players they are signing are players that are competing to be in the national team. 'I don't know if Paseka is a good signing for a club like Kaizer Chiefs; right now, Paseka should be going to a team that he will play for until he retires. If Pirates is releasing him, then how come he good for Chiefs? Right now, a lot is expected from Chiefs. They are under a lot of pressure to overtake Sundowns and Pirates,' Chikoya concluded. Rivals overtake Kaizer Chiefs in race for Mamelodi Sundowns star

Kaizer Chiefs are still searching the market to add some top attacking talents to their side for next season. Chiefs have struggled for goals in the past three seasons and missed out on the top eight again last season. There have been quite a few attackers linked with Chiefs going into the next season. This as a sign of what they're trying to fix in the final third. Amakhosi have seen the likes of Fiston Mayele, Etiosa Ighodaro, Robert Polievka mentioned as strikers. In the wingers department Oswin Appollis, Elias Mokwana, Mihlali Mayambela and Keletso Makgalwa have been touted. Another player who was also linked with Chiefs not too long ago was Mamelodi Sundowns star Thapelo Maseko. The player has not had the best of times since joining Masandawana, getting very limited game time so far. His situation took an even worse turn after being left out by the side for their FIFA Club World Cup exploits. The rumours of Maseko joining Chiefs have gone quiet recently and its now his former side SuperSport United being mentioned. According to Soccer-Laduma , talks of a return Matsatsantsa are at an advanced stage! 'SuperSport United wanted him initially on loan in January before they got Lebohang Maboe but things didn't work out that time. Now they are working on a permanent deal for Maseko and apparently it's believed that it's imminent,' said a source to the same publication. A well placed source also told the same publication that Maseko was no longer in the Sundowns plans. 'You see those players who went to the USA for the FIFA Club World Cup are the core of Sundowns. Their contracts and future is safe. Thapelo Maseko was left behind so that he could finalise his move back to SuperSport United and now it's believed that the deal is imminent,' said the source. Chiefs fans would you still like your club to try sign Maseko? Let us know by clicking on the comment tab. Or by emailing info@ or sending a WhatsApp to 060 011 021 1.
