Reese Witherspoon Revives the Peplum Trend in Louis Vuitton Skirt Suit at ‘You're Cordially Invited' Screening
Reese Witherspoon brought back a major 2010s trend at a New York screening of her new film 'You're Cordially Invited' on Tuesday.
The actress wore a black Louis Vuitton skirt suit consisting of a zip-up collarless jacket and miniskirt with peplum details. The flared silhouette has been revived in the 2020s, with stars like Nicole Kidman and Emma Stone modeling peplum gowns at the Academy Awards in 2022 and 2024, respectively.

Witherspoon was dressed by her longtime stylist, Petra Flannery, who also counts Amy Adams and Zoe Saldaña as clients.
Hairdresser Lona Vigi styled Witherspoon's blond tresses in waves, while makeup artist Kelsey Deenihan Fisher gave her rose gold eye shadow and a rosy terracotta lip.
On the red carpet, Witherspoon posed with her costar, Will Ferrell, who layered a brown suede jacket over a navy sweater and olive green trousers.
The 'Legally Blonde' star also modeled a skirt suit at the U.K. premiere of 'You're Cordially Invited' on Thursday, wearing a cropped blazer and slit pencil skirt by Dolce & Gabbana.
Witherspoon evoked her character from the 2001 film in October while speaking at Hello Sunshine's Shine Away event in Los Angeles, modeling a Carolina Herrera dress in Elle Woods' signature hue: pink.
The actress selected a flared midi silhouette from the label's resort 2025 collection, which features button embellishments and a thin belt. She added on small gold hoops, completing her look with metallic cap-toe slingbacks.
Witherspoon is searching for the next Elle Woods, as a prequel series to 'Legally Blonde' is currently in pre-production. An open casting call was announced by the actress on Instagram last spring.
'Before she became the most famous Gemini vegetarian to graduate from Harvard Law, she was just a regular '90s high school girl,' she wrote of the show's premise. 'And all of you are going to get to know her, next year on @primevideo I'm so excited!'
'Elle' will be produced by Witherspoon's own production company, Hello Sunshine, which she founded in 2016.

It turns out that all Kelly Ripa needed to do to fit into her Oscars dress was eat like Mark Consuelos for three days. On Monday's episode of " Live with Kelly and Mark," Ripa spoke about how she struggled to fit into her gown for the Academy Awards "So right before the Academy Awards, I was having trouble getting my dress zipped up the side. It was a side-zip dress, and I kept getting zipped into the dress," Ripa said. "I don't know if any women have experienced having your side skin sipped into your dress. It is a punishing thing." To help Ripa get red carpet-ready, Consuelos suggested she follow his high-protein diet. "It's the only time I've listened to Mark about my diet because I typically don't like to do what you're doing," Ripa said. "I just find, you're like, way too disciplined. I can't live that way." But she didn't mind giving it a shot if it's just "for 72 hours," Ripa said, adding that some of the foods she ate included steak, yoghurt, and vegetables. "I didn't love it, because I'm not big on animal protein. I don't love it, but I ate exactly how you told me to eat, and that dress zipped right up, no side skin," Ripa said. "And I looked super fit. Super, super fit. So thank you for that." Consuelos added that increasing protein should go hand-in-hand with meeting daily fiber needs. "It's crucial for maintaining a healthy gut microbiome and may lower the rates of chronic disease such as diabetes," Consuelos said. Protein helps build lean muscle mass, boosts immunity, and is good for weight loss. The latest Dietary Guidelines for Americans, published by the United States Department of Agriculture, recommend 14 grams of dietary fiber for every 1,000 calories consumed. This amounts to 22 to 28 grams daily for adult women and 28 to 34 grams daily for adult men, depending on their age range. Dietitians previously told Business Insider that salmon, shrimp, and black beans are high-protein foods that can be beneficial to include in a weight-loss diet. Eating a lot of protein isn't usually harmful, but it can mean you're not getting enough of other important nutrients. "Most athletes that I talk to are eating too much protein because they think eating more protein means building more muscle," sports dietitian Nancy Clark told BI. "It's actually the carbs that fuel muscle. All the protein they're eating displaces the carbs that are needed to fuel the muscles."

The commotion was in honor of the annual Chanel and Tribeca 'Through Her Lens' luncheon, celebrating the Tribeca Chanel Women's Filmmaker Program, now in its 10th year. Miley Cyrus, who has been in town promoting her new album 'Something Beautiful,' was especially excited about the Tribeca film 'My Mom Jayne,' directed by Mariska Hargitay, about her late mother, Jayne Mansfield. 'The Gilded Age,' which will screen for an event during Tribeca, returns with its third season later in June. 'We've dispensed with all of the exposition and now it's just quick storytelling. There is a lot of action this year. And of course I have a whole new closet that I get to wear,' Coon said. 'Honestly, my sneaky favorite things are the robes that I get to wear in my bedroom. Not only are they comfortable but they're always gorgeous — though the train makes acting with me very challenging, if you walk behind me.'
