Why Barcelona's captaincy announcement now makes more sense
This comes after the Blaugrana faced something of a fan backlash for their choice of new captain.
Confirmation was of course forthcoming on Thursday that the decision had been made to strip Marc-André ter Stegen of his armband at the Camp Nou.
And whilst as much was widely agreed upon as the correct move, Ter Stegen's replacement went down altogether more poorly.
Ronald Araújo will for the time being act as the dressing room leader in Hansi Flick's squad.
On the face of it, as much looked something of a strange decision, owing chiefly to the fact that Araújo is not currently considered first-choice in Barcelona's squad.
With the Uruguayan also fresh off something of an underwhelming campaign, fans were therefore quick to make their grievances known.
As alluded to above, though, developments in the time since have allowed for a clearer view of the situation to be provided.
Iñigo Martínez is of course now all set to depart Catalunya, bound for Saudi outfit Al-Nassr.
As much will open the door for Araújo to recapture starter status in boss Flick's backline, alongside Pau Cubarsí.
Held in high regard by the coaching staff in Barcelona, his status as new club captain, in turn, is beginning to look altogether more understandable.

Inter Milan Legend Certain: ‘Lautaro Martinez Is Capable Of Winning The Ballon D'Or'
Legendary former Inter Milan striker Alessandro Altobelli believes that Lautaro Martinez is 'capable of winning the Ballon d'Or.' Altobelli gave his thoughts in an interview in today's print edition of Milan-based newspaper Gazzetta dello Sport, via FCInter1908. Inter Milan captain Lautaro Martinez is among the nominees for the Ballon d'Or this year. This will in fact be the second year in a row in which the Argentine is on the thirty-player shortlist for the award. Martinez may not have had his most prolific season in Serie A last season. Nor did he managed to get his hands on any silverware at club or international level as in previous years. However, it was in the Champions League that Martinez really shone. The 27-year-old was undoubtedly one of Inter's key players in their run to the final of Europe's top club competition for the second time in three seasons. (Photo by) Legendary former Inter striker Alessandro Altobelli said that Martinez looks like the 'same old Toro' in recent friendlies. 'Always hungry for goals, and especially trophies.' 'He scored a great goal in Monte Carlo [against Monaco],' said Altobelli. 'And the new signings will also give him a hand.' 'I hope it's a great year. We're Inter, and we need to get back to winning ways.' The former striker declared that 'Another season without trophies would be out of the question.' And of Martinez's inclusion on the thirty-player Ballon d'Or shortlist, Altobelli said that 'he deserves it.' 'And he could even win it! Why not?' 'He needs to have a top season with Inter and Argentina,' the former Nerazzurri striker added. 'Maybe he'll even be champion again, like in Qatar.' 'Right now though there are three or four players in the world who are better than him.' Altobelli also said that Inter 'have to do everything they can to make sure he finishes his career with the Nerazzurri.'

UEFA Super Cup: PSG makes a decision for its supporters
PSG Next Wednesday, Achraf Hakimi and his teammates will kick off their 2025-2026 season. It will be against Tottenham in the UEFA Super Cup final. For this match, PSG has already made a decision. On the agenda for next Wednesday: a showdown in the UEFA Super Cup final against Tottenham for PSG. It's a battle for another piece of silverware and the perfect way to launch a season that once again promises to be thrilling. The final will be played in Udinese, Italy. For fans who may not have gone on holiday or made the trip to Italy, PSG has thought of everything. In fact, the match will be broadcast live inside the Parc des Princes, just like for the Champions League final. However, the club doesn't plan as massive a setup as for the clash against Inter Milan, "but a more modest arrangement with a giant screen on the Auteuil side," as reported by La Source Parisienne. To enjoy this event, fans need to book their ticket through the ticket office for the upcoming Night Session Stadium Tour on August 13. Tickets are priced at €30 for children, €20 for adults, including a "Stadium Tour route + guinguette area by the Auteuil pitch + giant Auteuil screen."
