Iran's port explosion: Over 45 dead
Shafaq News/ The death toll from Shahid Rajaee Port explosion in Bandar Abbas, southern Iran, has risen to 46, an Iranian official announced on Monday.
The Director General of Hormozgan's Crisis Management Department, Mehrdad Hassanzadeh, noted that 1,072 injured people have been discharged from hospitals, while 138 others remain hospitalized. Nine critically injured patients were transferred to medical facilities outside Hormozgan Province for specialized treatment, according to IRNA.
Iranian officials have launched an investigation into the cause of Saturday's explosion, but no specific details have yet been released.
The Spokesperson for the Iranian Red Crescent, Mojtaba Khaledi, urged the public to avoid traveling to Hormozgan Province and Bandar Abbas, adding that Red Crescent support teams had begun search operations for missing persons and were updating the families of victims and the injured with the latest developments.
Meanwhile, Iran's Mehr News Agency reported that firefighting teams had managed to control more than 80% of the fires sparked by the explosion. The blast also caused a tremor felt by residents in nearby areas, with the sound of the explosion reaching up to 20 kilometers from the site.
The blast caused significant damage to one of the 23 piers at Shahid Rajaee Port, which spans 2,400 hectares and has an annual cargo capacity of 70 million tons, prompting several countries to express solidarity with Iran and offer assistance.

Laith added that depleted uranium can settle on farmland, contaminate surface water, and be absorbed by crops—particularly leafy greens like radish and celery—posing long-term health risks including cancer, birth defects, and infertility. Iraq's National Nuclear Regulatory Authority reiterated that no threat has been detected inside the country but confirmed that monitoring will continue as the regional situation evolves.

CCHF 2025: Iraq records 125 cases and 21 deaths
Shafaq News/ Iraq has reported a rise in cases and fatalities from Crimean-Congo hemorrhagic fever (CCHF) since the beginning of 2025, with 125 confirmed infections and 21 deaths across the country, according to the Ministry of Health and Shafaq News tracker. Ministry spokesperson Dr. Seif al-Badr stated that the infections have been geographically distributed across several provinces, with Dhi Qar leading the list at 36 cases and one fatality. Al-Badr reaffirmed the Ministry's readiness to diagnose and respond to suspected cases, noting that early detection and prompt medical care have led to the recovery of hundreds of patients in previous outbreaks. CCHF: Iraq's Samarra district records 2025 1st case
Shafaq News/ Samarra district in central Iraq has confirmed its first case of Crimean-Congo Hemorrhagic Fever (CCHF) for 2025, a source from the Saladin Health Directorate reported on Wednesday. The source told Shafaq News that the patient, 41-year-old Othman Thaj Madloul, tested positive after a June 10 sample was verified by the Central Public Health Laboratory in Baghdad using RT-PCR. Health teams quickly enforced isolation protocols, launched contact tracing, and initiated awareness campaigns in high-risk areas.
