JAIS To Call Two New Witnesses In eHati Probe Tomorrow - Mohd Na'im
Minister in the Prime Minister's Department (Religious Affairs), Datuk Dr Mohd Na'im Mokhtar, said that the case is being investigated under Section 7 of the Syariah Criminal Offences (Selangor) Enactment 1995.
'So far, I can confirm that the investigation has begun, and we hope that the witnesses will be present tomorrow,' he said after officiating the pre-launch ceremony of the 65th International Quran Recitation and Memorisation Assembly (MTHQA), at the World Trade Centre Kuala Lumpur (WTCKL), today.
Mohd Na'im said that two women, who were the initial witnesses, had previously lodged a complaint with the JAIS Research Division.
'However, I was informed by the Enforcement Division that both complainants appeared somewhat hesitant to come forward and provide further information to JAIS. I hope this issue can be clarified, so that everyone understands the situation and the truth can be revealed,' he said.
'It is crucial for witnesses to come forward and assist the JAIS Enforcement Division in carrying out a professional investigation, to ensure that no party is unfairly treated,' he said.
He added that the JAIS Enforcement Division is also working closely with the Royal Malaysia Police (PDRM), which will investigate the case from the standpoint of potential civil law offences.
In this regard, he urged all parties with relevant information to step forward and fully cooperate with the authorities.
'I sincerely urge all parties involved, or with relevant information, to come forward and assist the JAIS Enforcement Division by providing truthful details, so that the matter can be resolved fairly and transparently,' he said.

She said this is also supported by the shared history of both countries and a strong belief in the value of regional cooperation. Advertisement 'The friendship between Australia and Malaysia is built on our shared history and the close relationships between our peoples,' she said in a 1-minute and 25-second video posted on her official Instagram account, @senatorpennywong. The video includes footage from her childhood in Kota Kinabalu, Sabah, as well as her appearance at the 58th Asean Foreign Ministers' Meeting (AMM) and related meetings held at the Kuala Lumpur Convention Centre last week. Wong added that this year marks the 70th anniversary of Australia-Malaysia diplomatic relations, and she expressed support for Malaysia's role as Asean Chair. 'We will continue working with our regional partners to support a shared vision for a more secure, stable and prosperous Indo-Pacific, in which Asean plays a central role,' she said. Wong, who was born in Malaysia and raised in Australia, said her life story reflects the reality of modern Australian society. 'My story, like that of many Australians, is a modern Australian story — almost half of all Australians were born overseas or have a parent who was born overseas,' she said. She emphasised that this multicultural background is one of Australia's key strengths in building strong international relationships, including with Southeast Asian nations. 'It helps us find common ground with people across the world, including in Southeast Asia,' she added. * Follow us on our official WhatsApp channel and Telegram for breaking news alerts and key updates! * Do you have access to the Daily Express e-paper and online exclusive news? Govt To Address Issues Raised By Malaysian Bar Within Framework Of Federal Constitution
KUALA LUMPUR, July 15 (Bernama) -- The MADANI government has taken note of the concerns raised by the Malaysian Bar through the 'Walk to Safeguard Judicial Independence' and is committed to addressing the issue responsibly and transparently within the framework of the Federal Constitution. Minister in the Prime Minister's Department (Law and Institutional Reform) Datuk Seri Azalina Othman Said said as an effort to increase transparency in the appointment procedure of Superior Court Judges, the government announced the implementation of a Comparative Study of the Judicial Appointment System by the Legal Affairs Division of Prime Minister's Department last week. She said the study aims to provide better clarity on the role of the Judicial Appointments Commission (JAC) and also to address the issues raised by the Malaysian Bar. 'The government is always open to the views of all parties, including the Malaysian Bar, who will also be invited to join in this study, to ensure a more transparent, integrity-based and trusted judicial appointment system for the people. 'In addition, issues raised by the Malaysian Bar should be considered within the framework of the Federal Constitution, the Judicial Appointments Commission Act 2009 [Act 695] and other laws in force,' she said in a statement today. Therefore, she said, all quarters should continue to respect the role of the constitution, which is the core of the country's judicial independence. Azalina said the Federal Constitution has established a clear mechanism to deal with judicial misconduct. Article 125(3) and (4) of the Federal Constitution empower the Yang di-Pertuan Agong to establish a special tribunal to investigate allegations of misconduct, and judges under investigation may be suspended on the advice of the Prime Minister after consultation with the Chief Justice, she said. In addition, she said, Article 125(3A) provides the Chief Justice with the power to refer any breach of ethics to the Judicial Ethics Committee established under the Judges' Ethics Committee Act 2010 [Act 703].

New Council, TVET Institution To Empower Orang Asli Economy- DPM Zahid
GENERAL From Ahmad Erwan Othman ROTORUA (New Zealand), July 15 (Bernama) -- Malaysia plans to set up an Orang Asli Business Council and a dedicated Technical and Vocational Education and Training (TVET) institution to boost the economic standing of the indigenous community, Deputy Prime Minister Datuk Seri Dr Ahmad Zahid Hamidi said today. Ahmad Zahid, who is also the Rural and Regional Development Minister, said the initiatives are part of five key proposals inspired by the success of New Zealand's Māori community in empowering their indigenous population. 'I will hold a special meeting with the Department of Orang Asli Development (JAKOA) to discuss the formation of the Orang Asli Business Council. 'We are also considering establishing a TVET institution focused on multiple skill areas to nurture technopreneurs from within the Orang Asli community,' he told a press conference after a roundtable session with Māori business leaders here. Ahmad Zahid, currently on a five-day working visit to New Zealand, spent the second day of his trip in Rotorua — a cultural and geothermal tourism hub about three hours from Auckland. He said the government also plans to create a dedicated microfinancing division under Amanah Ikhtiar Malaysia (AIM) to help Orang Asli women generate supplementary income. 'For Orang Asli mothers especially, we want to empower them to improve their family's financial standing. This is one of the lessons we've drawn from our visit here,' he said. Ahmad Zahid added that increasing access to higher education for Orang Asli youth remains a key focus.
