John Fogerty Is Releasing 'John's Versions' of Creedence Clearwater Revival Classics

Yahoo3 days ago

John Fogerty is set to release a new album filled with re-recorded versions of some of Creedence Clearwater Revival's most iconic songs. Titled Legacy: the Creedence Clearwater Revival years, the album is set to drop Aug. 22 from Concord.
Fogerty officially announced the new album live during his 80th birthday concert Wednesday night at the Beacon Theatre in New York. Legacy features 20 songs including famed tracks like 'Bad Moon Rising,' 'Fortunate Son,' 'Down on the Corner' and 'Proud Mary' among others.

All the song's are labeled '(John's Version),' a not-so-subtle nod to the famous '(Taylor's Version)' moniker Taylor Swift has adopted as she's been releasing re-recorded versions of her first six albums due to the controversy around the sale of her catalog. Fogerty already released the '(John's Version)' editions of 'Up Around the Bend,' 'Have You Ever Seen the Rain' and 'Porterville,' available on streaming platforms today.
Fogerty himself had been in one of the most infamous copyright struggles in the history of the music business for decades, as he long sought to win back ownership of his catalog from Saul Zaentz, who owned CCR's record label Fantasy Records. Finally in 2023, Fogerty cut a deal with Concord, Fantasy Records' current owner, buying a majority stake in CCR's publishing catalog. While artists like Swift have re-recorded music to subvert labels, as Fogerty says, these re-recordings are a celebration. Concord, which still owns the copyrights for the recordings, is releasing in tandem with Fogerty.
'For most of my life I did not own the songs I had written,' Fogerty said in a statement. 'Getting them back changes everything. Legacy is my way of celebrating that — of playing these songs on my terms, with the people I love.'
Fogerty was among the honorees at the 2025 American Music Honors back in April, performing with Bruce Springsteen for that evening. Fogerty produced the new album with his son, Shane Fogerty, while John's wife and manager, Julie Fogerty, executive produced. Shane and brother Tyler Fogerty both play on the album, along with Matt Chamberlain, Bob Malone, Bob Glaub and Rob Stone.
'I knew firsthand how much it meant for John to get his publishing back,' Julie Fogerty said in a statement. 'It has been so joyful and beautiful since this happened for him. This is a celebration of his life's work. It is the biggest party for the good guy/artist winning.'

Knicks Could Target 'Landmark' Player in Offseason After Falling Short of NBA Finals: Report

Knicks Could Target 'Landmark' Player in Offseason After Falling Short of NBA Finals: Report originally appeared on Athlon Sports. The New York Knicks have a crucial offseason ahead of them after they fell short of reaching the NBA Finals. Advertisement New York fell just two wins short of making the NBA Finals as they were eliminated in six games in the Eastern Conference Finals by the Indiana Pacers. While it was not the end to the season that the Knicks had hoped for, it was still a successful campaign as their offseason additions of Karl-Anthony Towns and Mikal Bridges helped them reach the Conference Finals for the first time since 2000. Sokolowski-Imagn Images Now the Knicks face a pivotal offseason, especially with them entering next season as one of the top teams in the East along with the Cleveland Cavaliers and Indiana Pacers due to Jayson Tatum's injury for the Boston Celtics. Advertisement Because of this, New York is in prime position to upgrade their roster and make a championship push next season and ESPN's Shams Charania is not ruling out them going after another star player. 'I'm told the Knicks have internal meetings this week to evaluate everything from the roster, different changes they could make around everything, but especially the roster… Whether it's a landmark player that you could bring in there or definitely depth on that bench,' Charania said. This is a major report by Charania and one that makes complete sense for New York, though they do lack tradeable assets, especially draft picks. Advertisement Of course, there are potentially multiple stars that could be on the move this offseason with Giannis Antetokounmpo and Kevin Durant headlining them, both of whom have been linked to the Knicks. Rebilas-Imagn Images For the Knicks to land another star next to Jalen Brunson, they may have to move on from Towns, Bridges or OG Anunoby to land them but a potential new big three in New York could end up propelling them to a championship next season. If they decide not to go after another star, expect the Knicks to upgrade their depth to have a better chance of winning a title next year. Major auto company shuttering 145 stores across US

One of America's largest automotive service companies is closing 145 stores across the nation after sales recently dropped by $5.2 million, the company's top leader announced. Monro Inc., will shutter the stores after reporting a 4.9% decrease in sales in the 2025 fiscal year ending March 29, the company's president and CEO Peter Fitzsimmons announced during its latest earnings report. The move comes as company leaders identified key areas to boost sales and earnings, including closing the doors to more than 100 "underperforming stores," said Fitzsimmons, named CEO on March 31. Fitzsimmons, partner and managing director of AlixPartners, a global consulting firm, replaced the company's former president Michael Broderick. Other goals include "improving our customer experience and selling effectiveness, driving profitable customer acquisition and activation, and increasing merchandising productivity, including mitigating tariff risk," Fitzsimmons said, according to a May 28 news release. "While our improvement plan will take time to implement, I believe that we will drive enhanced profitability and increase operating income and total shareholder returns in fiscal 2026.' The Fairport, New York-based company reported sales decreased 6.4% to $1.195 billion from $1.277 billion during the previous 2024 fiscal year, according to the release. Net loss for fiscal 2025 was $5.2 million compared to net income of $37.6 million in the prior year period, the release continues. Should you buy that car? It makes sense to own one in these cities. Monro is closing 145 stores across the U.S. It was not immediately known which locations will close. A Monro spokesperson told USA TODAY the company was not releasing the full list of the stores slated for closure "at this time." Monro has more than 1,300 locations: more than 1,200 are owned by the company and 48 are franchised, according to information from Monro's website and the Rochester Democrat and Chronicle, part of the USA TODAY Network. Stores include its flagship brand, Monro Auto Service and Tire Centers as well as Mr. Tire Auto Service Centers. Other brands are: Tire Barn Warehouse Tire Warehouse Ken Towery's Tire & Auto Care Allen Tire Company Monro Commercial Solutions Car-X Tire and Auto Tire Choice Auto Service Centers Free Service Tire Company, Inc. Mountain View Tire & Auto Service Skip's Tire Lloyd's Tire Calabasas Car Care Bud's Tires The move also comes after the auto company announced in June 2023 it planned to sell its headquarters in Rochester, New York. Founder Chuck August started Monro after he opened a Midas Muffler shop in 1957, the Democrat and Chronicle reported in 1998. Over the next eight years, August added three more Midas shops, then broke off with the franchiser in a dispute over what services would be offered. In the end, August named his new stores Monroe, and he wanted to save the large 'M' on the signs. However, 'onroe' wouldn't fit where 'idas' had been, so he dropped the 'e.' Sunrise Spirits Will Bring Classic Mecha Toys To Western Fans

Sunrise Spirits is a new toy brand for classic mecha anime. Sunrise is responsible for most of the major mecha anime ever made, and Bandai Spirits is now looking to honor this legacy with a new toy brand. Heading up this new Sunrise Spirits initiative is Yoshinari Kimura, Assistant Manager on the Robot Product Planning Team at Bandai Spirits. Following the increased accessibility and popularity of Sunrise mecha anime outside of Japan, Kimura wanted to ensure that Western fans weren't left behind. 'Given that people can now easily discover and watch Sunrise titles through social media, the official YouTube channel, and an ever-increasing selection of streaming platforms, we felt it was important to build an accessible solution for fans to purchase Sunrise merchandise. Through this initiative, we wanted to create a 'three-dimensional portal' for fans, both new and old. Furthermore, we wanted to clarify where people were able to purchase our products and figure out what would be necessary for us to sell them on an ongoing basis. The Tamashii Nations store in New York is one of many outside Japan. 'After carefully analyzing the balance between supply and demand, we concluded that the best way forward was to sell products through our own stores and an official online shop. Finally, when thinking about how to present the lineup within our stores in an accessible manner, we settled on the project name: Sunrise Spirits. 'The purpose of Sunrise Spirits is to serve as an entry point for both new fans and those who already have fond memories of Sunrise titles, and to maintain our lineup as a permanent platform. Thanks to our fans' passionate support, we have already expanded our presence to eight stores in Japan and another eight official Tamashii Nations store locations overseas, including New York City.' FEATURED | Frase ByForbes™ Unscramble The Anagram To Reveal The Phrase Pinpoint By Linkedin Guess The Category Queens By Linkedin Crown Each Region Crossclimb By Linkedin Unlock A Trivia Ladder Considering the depth and breadth of Sunrise mecha anime, the Sunrise Spirits brand has its work cut out for it, but it's already well on its way to covering off some of the more major titles. 'We currently have seven products available for purchase, including five from 1980s-era series such as Dunbine, Dougram, and Xabungle (shown below), as well as Zegapain from the 2000s. In addition to developing this extensive lineup, we have also updated each product's key visuals to make them more appealing to a wider audience. The classic mecha Xabungle is also getting the Sunrise Spirits treatment. 'In addition, we also plan on adding Robot Spirits Villkiss from the 2010s anime Cross Ange to our lineup in 2025. There are numerous exciting animated series out there, so we plan to continue exploring product lineups that cater to different age groups while reviewing the status of existing items. 'We really want our overseas fans to enjoy the same purchasing experience and potential for discovery that are available to Japanese consumers. With characters becoming something of a global language these days, we feel it is important to offer both virtual and real-world entry points and touchpoints. 'In the years to come, we expect that continued internet and social media usage will result in decreased language barriers and a more border-free world. As manufacturers of physical goods, we believe it will be increasingly important for us to offer a platform where fans can purchase our products. Our goal is to create opportunities for consumers to experience, across numerous contexts, the reassurance of purchasing products on-demand directly from an official supplier. Additionally, with initiatives like the Sunrise Robot Laboratory, we can now explore new ways to present and share classic series. In 2025, Sunrise Spirits will feature products from both Walker Gallia and Xabungle. We look forward to people visiting our stores and checking out these exciting new releases for themselves. In the meantime, we hope fans will continue to enjoy and support our work.' Sunrise Spirits toy releases are currently available at the Tamashii Nations New York store as well as online via Amazon. Follow me on X, Facebook and YouTube. I also manage Mecha Damashii and am currently featured in the Giant Robots exhibition currently touring Japan.
