Reds deal former All-Star RHP Alexis Diaz to Dodgers
The Los Angeles Dodgers acquired right-handed relief pitcher Alexis Diaz from the Cincinnati Reds on Thursday in exchange for minor league right-hander Mike Villani.
The Dodgers transferred right-hander Evan Phillips to the 60-day injured list to open a spot for Diaz on the 40-man roster.
Diaz, 28, was an All-Star selection in 2023 but lost his closer role in Cincinnati to Emilio Pagan earlier this season. He has appeared in just six games in 2025 and allowed eight runs over six innings for a 12.00 ERA.
Diaz was optioned to Triple-A on May 1 and had a 4.63 ERA, a 1-2 record and two saves in 14 appearances for Louisville.
Before his rough patch, Diaz amassed 75 saves and an 18-14 record over his first three major league seasons, all with Cincinnati. He owns a career 3.21 ERA.
Villani, 22, was a 13th-round draft pick by the Dodgers in 2024 and has yet to make his MLB debut. He started this season at the Rookie Ball level.

June 7 - Nolan Schanuel's RBI single in the fifth inning gave the Los Angeles Angels their first lead of the night, and three scoreless innings by the bullpen finished off a 5-4 victory over the Seattle Mariners on Friday in Anaheim, Calif. Travis d'Arnaud had two hits, including a two-run homer, and Chris Taylor singled, doubled and drove in a run to lead the Angels' offense, helping give starting pitcher Kyle Hendricks the 100th victory of his career. Hendricks (3-6) yielded four runs on eight hits in six innings. He struck out two and walked two. The Angels got one hitless inning apiece from Ryan Zeferjahn, Reid Detmers and Kenley Jansen (13th save). The trio combined to allow just one walk while striking out three. Seattle starter Bryce Miller (2-5) permitted five runs on six hits and a walk in five innings. He fanned two. The Mariners opened the scoring against Hendricks in the third inning on an RBI single by J.P. Crawford, but the Angels matched it in their half of the third on an RBI single by Zach Neto off Miller. The Mariners regained the lead in the top of the fourth after loading the bases with no outs. Rowdy Tellez drove in the first run of the inning with a sacrifice fly to deep right field, with Jorge Soler making the catch just in front of the short fence near the right field foul pole. The second run of the inning scored when Leody Taveres grounded out, bringing in Cal Raleigh from third to give the Mariners a 3-1 lead. The Angels matched it again in the bottom of the fourth on d'Arnaud's two-run homer, tying the game at 3-3. The Mariners again took the lead at 4-3 in the fifth, getting a two-out RBI triple from Julio Rodriguez. Angels center fielder Jo Adell lost his glove over the fence trying to make the catch. The Angels responded again in the bottom of the fifth, getting an RBI double from Taylor and an RBI single from Schanuel for a 5-4 edge. Sonny Gray, Cardinals blank Dodgers in series opener
June 7 - Sonny Gray and three relievers combined on a shutout as the St. Louis Cardinals beat the visiting Los Angeles Dodgers 5-0 Friday night. Gray (7-1) worked 6 1/3 innings, allowing eight hits while striking out five and walking none. JoJo Romero, Phil Maton and Steven Matz took it from there, and Los Angeles finished 1-for-13 with runners in scoring position. Pedro Pages hit a two-run homer and Willson Contreras added a solo shot for the Cardinals. Brendan Donovan hit a two-run single, and Nolan Arenado went 3-for-4 with a run. Dodgers starter Justin Wrobleski (1-2) permitted four runs on six hits and three walks in six innings. He struck out five. By taking the opener of a three-game series, St. Louis won for just the second time in five games. Los Angeles took its fourth defeat in six games. After rain delayed the start for 1 hour, 17 minutes, Mookie Betts hit a one-out double in the first inning. However, Gray struck out Freddie Freeman and retired Teoscar Hernandez on a groundout. June 7 - After rallying from a three-run deficit in the ninth inning, Oregon State upended Florida State 5-4 on AJ Singer's walk-off RBI single in the 10th inning in the opener of the Corvallis Super Regional on Friday night. With the bases loaded and no outs in the bottom of the 10th, Florida State got a forceout at the plate before Singer stepped up and delivered a single to center, scoring Gavin Turley to win the opener of the best-of-three series. Down to their last strike in the ninth, the Beavers got one run back on a wild pitch by reliever Joe Charles that scored Wilson Weber. Jacob Krieg followed with a game-tying two-run single to tie the game at 4. Runs were few and far between early as both starters shined. Seminoles (41-15) starter Joey Volini tossed 6 2/3 innings of one-run ball and struck out eight. Beavers (46-13-1) starter Dax Whitney allowed one earned run and struck out 10 over 4 2/3 innings. The Seminoles opened the scoring with a Hunter Carns RBI double in the second. Weber responded with an RBI double in the fourth. Munroe belted a ball to left-center field with runners on second and third for his second long ball of the day, bringing the Cardinals lead to 7-1.
