Skypark Kepler is the first phase of Lido, strategically situated within the Johor Bahru Waterfront Zone - a premium incentive area under the Flagship A Johor-Singapore Special Economic Zone.
Starting from RM580,000, Skypark Kepler comprises 1,596 fully furnished designer units ranging from 463 sq ft to 807 sq ft across two elegant 54-storey towers, designed to appeal to young professionals, families and retirees alike.
Tropicana managing director for marketing, sales and business development Ixora Ang shared that partially furnished units in Tower A are priced at about RM1,300 per sq ft, while the fully furnished residences in Tower B, featuring premium fittings and furnishings from brands like Samsung and Kohler, are priced at about RM1,800 per sq ft.
"We conceptualised the Lido master plan years ago, envisioning it as Johor's future metropolis and our crown jewel in the Southern region. Lido will be a landmark township integrating seven key components, exceptional connectivity, and sustainable smart city living," she said.
"We hosted soft launches to gauge the market response to this first, branded residences, and have received positive feedback."
Tropicana executive director for marketing and sales Jenny Low said around 80 units at Skypark Kepler have been sold to date, with a gross development value of RM100 million - most purchases coming from foreign buyers.
Skypark Kepler's official launch was marked by the unveiling of its new show units and an upgraded property gallery at Danga Bay.
The freehold development stands out for its many unique features, including international zoning, proximity to the Johor Bahru-Singapore Rapid Transit System, unobstructed waterfront views, a 2.5km coastal boardwalk, a 32-acre green park, and a cultural centre.
In November 2024, Tropicana held the official groundbreaking ceremony with main contractor China State Construction Engineering Corporation and signed partnership agreements with Banyan Group, Samsung, and Kohler for the residences' premium finishes and appliances.
In May 2025, Tropicana appointed global architecture firm Skidmore, Owings and Merrill to lead the Lidomaster plan transformation.
According to Dr. Jeffrey Yee, Tropicana's managing director for the southern region, Skypark Kepler is slated for completion and handover by late 2029 or early 2030.

Urban renewal bill to be tabled in parliament this Thursday
PUTRAJAYA: The Urban Renewal Bill will be tabled for its first reading in the Dewan Rakyat this Thursday, marking a significant step in Malaysia's urban development plans. Housing and Local Government Minister Nga Kor Ming confirmed the second and third readings are scheduled for 27 August, setting a new direction for sustainable and inclusive urban growth. 'I think the time has come, because next year the country will celebrate 70 years of independence, we need a new act to revive old cities,' he said during a press conference after the KPKT Budget 2026 engagement session. The ministry conducted 101 engagement sessions with stakeholders, including developers, NGOs, and parliamentary committees, making it the most extensive consultation in its history. Nga emphasised that the bill is crucial for revitalising ageing towns and aligning with Malaysia's sustainable development goals under the MADANI Economy framework. Regarding funding, he stated that allocations would be channelled to local authorities to ensure effective implementation of urban renewal projects. Affordable housing reforms will also be prioritised in Budget 2026, with new technologies introduced to reduce costs while maintaining quality. 'The ceiling price of urban affordable houses is currently set at RM300,000, but our focus is on increasing household income to improve homeownership,' Nga added. The engagement session gathered 330 stakeholders to discuss housing, waste management, disaster preparedness, and local government services. – Bernama

Textile shops in KL found using unverified measuring tools
KUALA LUMPUR: Several textile shops in the federal capital were found using measuring tools that had not been verified by the Ministry of Domestic Trade and Cost of Living (KPDN), exposing consumers to the risk of fraud when purchasing fabric. KPDN Kuala Lumpur director Mohd Sabri Seman said the unverified rulers used at the premises did not meet the required standards, which could affect consumer rights and create opportunities for fraudulent practices. 'Rulers used for measuring fabric must comply with specifications, including having metal at both ends and a certification label from KPDN,' he told reporters after leading an enforcement operation at Jalan Tuanku Abdul Rahman here today. The operation, which began at noon, involved inspection at 35 premises. Seven compounds were issued for various offences under the Price Control and Anti-Profiteering Act 2011 and the Weights and Measures Act 1972, amounting to RM7,000 in total. Of these, three premises were found to be using unverified measuring tools, while four others failed to display price tags. Mohd Sabri said that 272 cases involving offences related to price marking and the use of unverified weighing and measuring instruments have been detected since the beginning of this year, with a compound value of almost RM100,000 issued. He advised consumers to remain vigilant and to report any suspected misuse of controlled goods, sale of counterfeit products, or non-compliance by traders with the law. 'We also hope traders will consistently comply with the laws enforced by the agency to ensure that business transactions are carried out fairly and transparently,' he added. – Bernama

Chong tells state govt to focus on 13MP's proposed RM100 mln KIA expansion, ditch new mega project
Photo shows the exterior of Kuching International Airport. — Photo by Chimon Upon KUCHING (Aug 19): The Sarawak government has been called on to focus on expanding the existing Kuching International Airport (KIA) instead of pushing forward with plans for a new airport. Stampin MP Chong Chieng Jen said federal Transport Minister Anthony Loke had in a written reply in parliament revealed a proposal to allocate an estimated RM100 million for KIA's expansion under the 13th Malaysia Plan (13MP). According to Chong, the proposed upgrading under the 13MP's first rolling plan would take KIA's capacity from the present five million passengers per annum (MPPA) to eight MPPA. 'With this proposed expansion plan, that will increase the capacity of KIA by another 60 per cent,' he said in a statement. He pointed out that Loke also stated the final approval of the expansion plan would depend on the availability of funds as well as the direction of the state government, which has undertaken a feasibility study for the proposed new KIA at Tanjung Embang. 'While the proposed allocation of RM100 million may not pose a big hurdle as such a sum is very small compared to annual budget of the federal government, it is the direction and intention of the state government which may be a main impediment to the expansion of the existing KIA,' the Padungan assemblyman said. 'I thus call upon the state government to take the more immediate and practical approach to focus on the expansion of the existing KIA (which costs RM100 million and can effectively serve Kuching for another 15 to 20 years) instead of pushing for the construction of a new KIA, which is estimated to cost another RM10,000 million (one hundred times more expensive) and stalling the plan to expand the current KIA.' According to Chong, the state government may want to proceed with building the new KIA and not request for the expansion of the existing airport. 'We know that Sarawak is rich. But there is still a limit to our wealth. We should not repeat the folly of the federal government under Tun (Dr) Mahathir (Mohamad) in the late 80s and 90s with its uninhibited spending on mega projects, thus turning Malaysia into a debt-ridden country and making us, the future generations of the 80s and 90s, to pay for their extravagance,' he added. In January, Premier Datuk Patinggi Abang Johari Tun Openg announced Sarawak's new state-of-the-art international airport will be in Tanjung Embang, Samarahan near the deep-sea port currently under development in the area. The Sarawak government has since appointed Netherlands Airport Consultants as lead consultant for a feasibility study on the new airport, which is scheduled to be completed by February next year.
