The football legend thanked pals for their support.
The much-loved star's family and friends rallied round the 58-year-old after he was discovered semi-conscious at home on Friday evening.
Pal Steve Foster, who found him, said Gazza would 'like to thank everyone for the support he's received so far from so many old friends who wish him well and want to see him back to his best'.
The star was said to be out of danger and stable last night after he was rushed to hospital and placed in intensive care.
He is recovering in hospital near his home, and is expected to remain there for several days for treatment.
Mr Foster, who is also Gazza's driver and personal assistant, had rushed the star there in his car after finding him in his bedroom.
He said: 'Paul is in hospital, which is the best possible place for him to be right now.'
Gazza 's reality star daughter Bianca, his two sisters and ex-footballer pals Peter Beardsley, Chris Waddle, Paul Merson and Vinnie Jones were said to be being kept informed of his condition.
