Taking a dig at the PMK Thanjavur north district secretary, M.K.Stalin, who is also the Chairman of Aduthurai Municipality, for displaying a photograph of Mr Anbumani n the stage where the Thanjavur-Tiruvarur district general council meeting of the PMK and the Vanniyar Sangam was held, Dr.Ramadoss said he would have displayed the photograph 'due to his affection towards Dr.Anbumani.'
When asked to respond to BJP leader, H. Raja's statement that it would be a treat to watch if the father and son worked together, he said, it was his (Raja's) wish. Responding to a follow up question whether Mr Raja's wish would become a reality, he replied by singing the first few words of a Tamil movie song – 'poga poga theriyum' (it shall be known in future).

Madras High Court quashes Government Order cancelling allotment of Kalaignarin Kanavu Illam houses to Maraimalai Ilakkuvanar and Thilagavathy
The Madras High Court has quashed a Government Order (G.O.) issued on March 4, 2024, cancelling the allotment of houses at Shenoy Nagar and Anna Nagar in Chennai to noted Tamil writers Maraimalai Ilakkuvanar and G. Thilagavathy, also a retired IPS officer, under the Kalaignarin Kanavu Illam scheme. Justice N. Anand Venkatesh agreed with senior counsel Rev. Fr. Xavier Arulraj, representing both writers, that another G.O. issued on January 26, 2024, modifying the eligibility criteria for the beneficiaries of the scheme, could be given only prospective and not retrospective effect. The judge pointed out that the government had introduced the scheme on the 97th birth anniversary of former Chief Minister M. Karunanidhi in 2022. It was intended to honour Tamil scholars by allotting houses to those who had received literary awards such as the Jnanpith Award. Accordingly, a G.O. was issued on November 16, 2022, allotting houses to 10 beneficiaries for 2022-23. The two writ petitioners were among them, and they were allotted houses at Shenoy Nagar and Anna Nagar after their individual preference was ascertained. However, in January 2024, the government decided that the Tamil scholars who had already owned houses would be ineligible for allotment of houses under the scheme. The decision was given retrospective effect and the allotments made to the petitioners in 2022 were cancelled in March 2024. Disapproving of the decision, Justice Venkatesh said the 2022 G.O. had stated that the scheme was intended to honour the award received by the scholars and not the awardee per se. When such was the stance, he wondered what forced the government to make a complete reversal in 2024. Even if the government wanted to change its policy, it ought to have been given prospective and not retrospective effect, he concluded.

However, reports suggested she had earned crores through this alleged "business." The two women detained with her were later sent to a government rescue home. The actress was also reportedly involved in a separate case, accused of threatening a politician's son and extorting Rs 50 crore. Media reports claimed she had lived with him for a period. There were reports that Bhuvaneswari amassed crores of rupees through prostitution, with top leaders also implicated. The prostitution allegations had a significant impact on Bhuvaneswari's film career. Although she continued acting for a few years, she eventually left the industry and entered politics, dismissing the charges as part of a larger conspiracy. About three years after the controversy, Bhuvaneswari joined the All India Moovendar Munnani Kazhagam and currently serves as president of the party's women's wing. She has publicly stated that she was subjected to police harassment following her arrest for alleged indecent acts. Bhuvaneswari, now 50, is best known for her role in the Tamil film Boys. She also alleged that intervention by certain DMK leaders influenced the case against her, leading to its weakening. Though there were claims that she ran a brothel involving models from various states at her residence, she was eventually acquitted of all charges. The Punjab and Haryana High Court has dismissed the plea filed by actor-turned-politician Kangana Ranaut after a defamation case was filed against her over her recent remark on the farmers' protest. Kangana Ranaut had applied in court and asked for the complaint against her to be thrown out, but reportedly, the High Court has dismissed her plea. As per a report in The Times of India, the High Court stated, 'There are specific allegations against the petitioner, who is a celebrity, that false and defamatory imputations by her in the retweet have dented the respondent's reputation and lowered her in her own estimation, as also in the eyes of others. Therefore, filing of the complaint to vindicate her rights cannot be termed mala fide." To simplify, the High Court shared that the celebrity's retweet allegedly defamed the respondent, so her complaint is valid and not made with bad intent. A defamation case was filed against Kangana Ranaut by 73-year-old Mahinder Kau from Bathinda after the actress, in a now-deleted tweet, wrongly identified her as Bilkis Bano of Shaheen Bagh fame and claimed that such women protest for ₹100. In 2022, a local court summoned Kangana, and she moved to the Punjab & Haryana High Court. However, her plea was rejected, and she now has to face trial in Punjab.
