‘NCIS: Hawai'i' Alum Jason Antoon Shares Clip Of Canceled Show's Vacant Studio Lot
A year after NCIS: Hawai'i ended its three-season run on CBS, the state's film and TV industry continues to suffer a decline in business. Jason Antoon, who played cyber intelligence specialist Ernie Malik on the police procedural spin-off, recently shared a video of the series' vacant and overgrown Hollywood Film Studio, where shows like Lost (2004-'10), Hawaii Five-0 (2010-'20) and Magnum P.I. (2018-'24) also filmed. More from Deadline 'NCIS Hawai'i' Cast Joins Together On The Beach To Celebrate Series 'Rescue HI-Surf' Canceled By Fox After One Season '9-1-1' Eyes Hawaii As Setting For Potential New Spinoff On ABC 'Hawaii Film Studios – Empty and full of weeds,' wrote Antoon, sharing the clip Friday on X. Hawaii is an expensive location that is harder to fit into continuously trimmed TV budgets, especially in linear TV. Cost was among the factors for CBS' decision to cancel NCIS: Hawai'i after three seasons, despite being the #12 most watched non-sports program on broadcast, averaging 7.8 million linear viewers and 10M multi-platform viewers (Live+35). After the cancelation last April, Antoon wrote on Instagram, 'This business is brutal and makes no sense. But we had soooo much fun. Love you all and mahalo.' Hawaii Film Studios – Empty and full of weeds. #NCISHawaii #MagnumPI #Hawaii50 #Lost 😢 — Jason Antoon (@jasonantoon) June 7, 2025 The actor's latest post comes after Fox's Rescue HI-Surf, which also filmed in the Aloha State, was canceled after one season last month. Although CEO Rob Wade said the reason for the decision 'certainly wasn't the locale or the budget,' filming in Hawaii made it one of the network's more expensive dramas, coming in at close to $4 million per episode. Meanwhile, Hawaii was passed over as the locale for the next 9-1-1 spin-off, which is instead filming in Nashville, starring Chris O'Donnell and premiering this fall on ABC. On Friday, Gov. Josh Green, M.D. released an intent-to-veto list, which includes HB796, a bill that would sunset tax credits after five years. 'This bill would have a significant long-term impact on income tax credits across a variety of industries, including film and television, research, and renewable energy,' said Gov. Green of the veto. 'These tax credits are critical to supporting economic development and diversification, particularly within growing and emerging sectors. Categorically sunsetting income tax credits will not only disincentivize future investors from doing business in Hawai'i, but will destabilize existing businesses that currently rely upon these tax credits. Bruce Willis 'Found Secret Ways Of Working Through Degenerative Illness,' Wife Reveals In Book
Bruce Willis found ways to continue to work and appear on screen through the beginning of his degenerative illness, his wife has revealed in her forthcoming book. Australian au website reports that Willis's plan to continue working as long as he was able will be detailed in Emma Heming Willis's upcoming book – one she calls 'not a memoir but under the category of self-help' – The Unexpected Journey, due for release in September. More from Deadline Bill Murray Recalls Poignant Moment With Old Friend Bruce Willis On 'Watch What Happens Live' Samuel L. Jackson Reveals Invaluable Advice He Received From Bruce Willis During 'Die Hard With A Vengeance' Shoot Haley Joel Osment Recalls Bruce Willis Would Call "Out Of The Blue" Years After 'Sixth Sense' The Die Hard star announced in February 2023 that he had been diagnosed with frontotemporal dementia. He had retreated from the spotlight a year earlier due to his deteriorating health. However, according to Heming Willis's book will reveal that her action hero husband had found ways to continue to work on films such as Assassin (2023) and the Detective Knight series (2022-23), having directors reduce his dialogue and employing a trusted friend to feed him lines through an earpiece. The website adds that the actor's deterioration wasn't immediately apparently either on set or on screen, because Willis had always had a slow speech pattern, after having a stutter as a child – something he once told interviewer Michael Parkinson he was able to put to good effect: 'It's how I got my sense of humour, because I realised, yeah I stutter, but I could make people laugh by doing stupid stuff.' Heming Willis shared on Instagram that she had written the book to help others facing her husband's condition, as well as their families. She said: 'I really wrote the book that I wish someone had handed me the day we got our diagnosis with no hope, no direction … not much. Today life looks different for me and our family because I was able to put support into place.' As well as his successful turns in the Die Hard franchise, Willis has enjoyed a string of hit films including Look Who's Talking, The Sixth Sense and Death Becomes Her. He had his breakthrough success in early 1980s TV series Moonlighting, co-starring with Cybil Shepherd as private detectives David Addison and Maddie Hayes. Your Horoscope for the Week of June 8
Get ready for a wild ride! The planets are making moves and shaking things up in a good way. Moments will be fun and some will be rough. Try to make the most of it by stepping away from heated situations when they begin. The ultimate flex is to not engage in drama and to focus on yourself. Protect your energy! The week begins with Mercury and Jupiter forming a conjunction in Gemini on June 8, which gives us complete understanding and clarity. Mercury will enter Cancer later that same day, bringing emotion to the way we express ourselves. Jupiter swims into Cancer on June 9, adding luck and goodness to our vibe. Mercury in Cancer squares Saturn in Aries on the 9th, making us think before we speak. Venus in Taurus shares a fraud aspect with Pluto retrograde in Aquarius on June 9, creating intense power struggles in relationships. Mercury and Neptune in Aries meet up on June 9, allowing us to embrace our fantasies and daydreams. The Full Moon in Sagittarius on June 11 will enable us to transcend and evolve. Mercury and Venus harmonize on the 11th, urging us to speak from the heart and lead with our best intentions. The Sun in Gemini and the Nodes of Destiny share a frenetic connection on June 13, offering us new opportunities to choose from. Sometimes, it pays off to be reflective and contemplative, especially when it comes to discussing personal matters that are weighing on you with a close friend. Being strategic in how you chat about your emotions is beneficial because it encourages you to be empathetic and direct in conversation without conflict. Once you take a stance, it's hard to get out of the train of thought, even if your assessments aren't correct and inaccurate. Before digging your heels in the mud and allowing yourself to get stuck in a mindset, consider understanding the other person's side and POV from the get-go. The best things in life are free, but that sentiment won't pay for this season's It Bag. Saving your pennies for an item you're lusting after isn't going to stop you from desiring new swag next month, so figure out what stylistically stands the test of time. Decide before swiping your card and your wallet will thank you. 'Tis the time for your glow-up. This week brings a massive shift in how you see yourself and how others view you. Don't worry, little crab, the cosmos are heightening your popularity. It just may be hard for you to accept your fandom at first, but you will embrace it soon. If you've been yearning for down time so take a few days for some R&R after work. Treat yourself to a mani-pedi with a foot massage to unwind and chill at home. You'll be grateful that you chose to decompress instead of hitting the bars when you realize how revitalizing it is. Your social network is making strides, aligning you with people who can give you a boost in your career. Therefore, you need to beef up your LinkedIn account and presence to show them your skills and knowledge. They might be able to help you professionally in the future, so reach out! Although you may not do it intentionally, you're breadcrumbing your crush or S.O. The constant demands of your 9 to 5 are holding you back from being there for your boo. Don't let that stand between you both. Plan a special outing to make them feel the love you have in your heart. Obsessed with being at the top of your game? You don't have to climb the corporate ladder to prove your worth. When you are feeling down and blue about your current situation or frustrated, know that you are the CEO of being fabulous, which is all that really matters. The group chat is dwindling, and you're scrambling to get everyone back into gear for summer (which technically begins next week, but in your mind, it's already started). Nudge them delicately before laying on the guilt trip and theatrics. They'll respond if you present a plan for the next hangout. Even though you tend to hold onto grudges (no judgment!), there comes a time when you gotta release them. The week ahead asks you to unshackle yourself from such burdens to live and let live without continuously hardening your heart. Unchain yourself from the resentments holding you back from growing. Integrity is essential to you but not always vital for others. Some peeps may disappoint you this week when you witness their sketchy behavior in personal and professional settings. For you, it's a deal breaker, so you're moving onward and upward with those who are honest and loyal. Drop mic. People can be two-faced at times. While that sentiment is true, the caveat is that you are running your mouth and annoyed that others are doing it too. If your pals get caught with their hands in the cookie jar, deal with the problem and make amends for your part.
