Portworx & Red Hat launch solution to simplify VM on Kubernetes

Portworx by Pure Storage and Red Hat have launched Portworx for KubeVirt, a software-defined storage solution designed to facilitate the deployment and management of virtual machine (VM) workloads on Kubernetes using the Red Hat OpenShift Virtualization Engine.
Portworx for KubeVirt is intended to offer enterprises a more cost-effective and simplified approach to modernising their application infrastructure by enabling the migration and operation of applications within Kubernetes environments at their own pace.
The combination of Portworx and the Red Hat OpenShift Virtualization Engine aims to optimise functionality for enterprises while reducing total cost of ownership. According to data from Portworx, customers using Red Hat OpenShift and the OpenShift Virtualization platform have achieved estimated cost savings of approximately 30% to 50% over the past year compared to their previous virtualization expenditure.
The new offering gives organisations the flexibility to continue running applications in VMs on Kubernetes, allowing them to refactor or develop new cloud-native applications when suitable for their current resources and business timelines. This reduces the need for abrupt migrations and gives businesses the ability to modernise incrementally.
Portworx for KubeVirt with Red Hat OpenShift Virtualization Engine allows customers to plan VM migrations to Kubernetes infrastructure across various deployment environments. Migration can take place on-premises, in the public cloud, at the edge, or in hybrid arrangements wherever Red Hat OpenShift is supported.
The Red Hat OpenShift Virtualization Engine is focused solely on VM workloads and is designed to offer the core virtualization capabilities of Red Hat OpenShift for simplified VM deployment, management, and scaling. Integrating Portworx aims to add enterprise data management features, simplifying VM workload migration and management on a unified platform.

Nutanix Named A Challenger In 2025 Gartner® Magic Quadrant™ For Container Management

Nutanix (NASDAQ: NTNX), a leader in hybrid multicloud computing, today announced it has been recognised as a Challenger in the 2025 Gartner Magic Quadrant for Container Management. This marks Nutanix's recognition for the first time in this Magic Quadrant following the launch of its Nutanix Kubernetes Platform (NKP) solution last year. Nutanix launched NKP following the integration of D2iQ, Inc.'s Kubernetes Platform, enabling Nutanix to quickly deliver a production-ready enterprise solution for managing cloud native applications across diverse environments. Dynatrace named Leader & Outperformer in 2025 GigaOm report on Kubernetes

Dynatrace has been recognised as both a Leader and an Outperformer in the 2025 GigaOm Radar Report for Kubernetes Observability. Report findings GigaOm evaluated 23 Kubernetes observability solutions, assessing factors including scalability, ease of use, compliance and governance, cost, ecosystem, and flexibility. The report placed Dynatrace closest to the centre of its Radar for Kubernetes Observability, signifying its capability to support customers' understanding of complex cloud environments, according to the rankings. The 2025 GigaOm Radar Report was authored by Dr Shane C. Archiquette, who commented on Dynatrace's performance in the industry review. In his analysis, Archiquette stated, "Dynatrace was classified as an Outperformer, given its fast-paced innovation in AI-driven observability and telemetry unification. The platform's continued fusion of security, observability, and automation positions it as a strategic solution for enterprises looking to consolidate tooling and scale their SRE operations with intelligence at the core." Kubernetes complexity The adoption of Kubernetes by enterprises has increased the complexity of cloud environments, introducing distinct challenges compared to conventional technology stacks. According to Dynatrace, its Davis AI engine is structured to use various AI methodologies, such as causal, predictive, and generative techniques, to automatically identify and contextualise root causes within Kubernetes environments. The firm claims these features are instrumental in reducing Mean Time to Recovery (MTTR) and align with organisational requirements for automation capable of managing multi-environment architectures. The GigaOm report outlined that Dynatrace's AI capabilities serve as a primary differentiator in the context of intelligent automation and monitoring. This enables organisations to potentially predict and prevent IT incidents before they can impact end users. In operational terms, Dynatrace suggests this aligns observability insights more closely with identified business outcomes. Leadership comments Alois Reitbauer, Chief Technology Strategist at Dynatrace, commented on the company's recognition and the evolving requirements for monitoring cloud-native technology in enterprise settings.
